Pascoe statement on times at hand - message from CEO

Aside from some of the statement being poorly worded, the club needed to come out and make some type of statement. Plenty of people on here have been howling down some of the media reports because as Pascoe states, they only report half the story, and that's not reporting at all, it becomes spin doctoring to suit an agenda, rather than being transparent.

I dont think he said anything we had not already figured out. But it is nice to see some official comment from the club about all the crap being floated in the media.

Next week it will be some other club in crisis schmuck headline, and Wests can get on with the rest of this season, and building whatever future we can

I honestly doubt it Slothfield will run with this for a long time. For some reason he seems to hate us with a passion

Probably helps distract from his own chronic conflicts of interest. That man should thank his lucky stars he still has a job at all after last year's business with Eddie Hayson - he must have compromising photos of someone at News Corp because it certainly isn't the quality of his journalism that keeps him employed. Maybe he sobered up for the internal inquiry.

I really like Pascoe. I like Cleary. I even like Marina Go. However, the one remaining admin problem we have is a perception issue. And as much as it sucks perception is a huge problem in a business that is as public as pro sport. Pascoe and Go are both fairly modern casual style businesspeople and the traditionalist media don't get them. I think we would do well to hire a spokesperson or media official. Or replace Go with a more traditional footy head. To keep the wolves away.

Pretty good statement to the members.

Majority of people are finally seeing through the dribble some journos have been throwing at the club. Bulldog and Hooper have been copping it hard from all clubs supporters on twitter recently.

Alot of people being seen for what they really are

good statement, addresses most concerns, i like justin
but as he said "you only hear half the story".

im sure the deadlines were placed so that the focus can shift back on to this year.

Wests Tigers now head into the market with more than 200 players off contract for next season, 100% of our cap set to be playing here, and **a war chest that would be the envy of our competitors is exciting for this organisation.**

Justin Pascoe
Wests Tigers CEO

why would you say that? flaunt your money? dont like this one. it just allows other managers to milk us for money. hope we dont start over paying coz of this.

Why replace Go just because that pisspot at the Telecrap has a vendetta against her, and he has the medium to push his point of view.

A bit of a knee jerk, but we're always calling for the club to provide clarity. It's a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't type of situation. Personally, I'm glad Pascoe is up front. Probably the most honest and open CEO the club has had.

I disagree, I think the club has been very restrained on public comments regarding these contracts. Almost nothing in fact until the deadline that Cleary revealed.

I think the timing is right, to give a public comment on everything that's happened in the last months, because speculation is wild and if you do nothing, if there is no response from the club, the journos will keep working their imaginary angles. Of course they will anyway, but you take the steam out of some stories if you present the facts!

What I wonder, moving forward, is exactly how communicative Pascoe will be with members and fans. He's not so keen to offer comments but he does appear to respond to emails/letters written to the club.

I wonder if he would consider doing what previous management has done before, allow forum members to write up a list of burning questions that the club can choose to respond to. It gives them the ability to decline stuff they don't want to talk about, and to offer public comment without being harrassed and shouted down by idiot journos.

I would prefer not, but for the sake of the club I would.

That will only lead to more crappie headlines just imagine Rothfield " Tigers in crisis as they sack chairperson" she is tough enough to handle the pressure.
No more bad headlines at the moment please.

Its just more froth and bubbles from the Wests Tigers… If Pascoe was a smart operator, he would know the most important thing right now is to get us 'out' of the media until we have something positive to sell.

Getting into a fight with James Hooper is stupid and makes us look more un-professional. Unlike most on here, I think its time to head to the bunker and sort our crap out!

We have a mole at the club feeding information to media that's why we are always in the news, mostly negative.

Don't forget not long ago management put some misinformation out there to see who the leak was. I haven't heard what came out of that.

Good to see an official statement from the CEO. Marina Go is a shrewd businesswomen but it's not her role to be the face of the organisation - that's Pascoes job.

I am a lot more confident with Cleary on board and in particular the way he negotiated his contract convinces me this has finally resolved the woods/tedesco issue. We are now in a position to finally be a professional club. Let's just hope it happens.

I dont have a problem with the statement i think much of it needed to be addressed, i possibly would have preferred it to be done post todays game but i see why it was done now also.

There's only so much mud slinging you can take as a club before you have to return serve and provide your perspective, getting into a slagging match with a muppet like Hooper isnt the way. Do it on your own terms and say what needs to be said, Im on the fence a bit with Pascoe but this i think was the right move may there be manymore right moves to come.

People complain when the club say nothing and people complain when they say something. Pascoe can't win, anyway I say he is doing a great job and I liked his report on what has happened and was is going to happen

Rothfield would support us if we did that. That's the entire point.

No he would only then go looking for something else to complain about us

Rothfield rubbish the club long before Go and the independent board was installed by the NRL.

Rubbish. Buzz has been slamming our club since Sheens' day. His hatred of our club has nothing to do with Go, although it intensified as soon as she became Chair, given she was a woman and from outside the boys's club.

Maybe he got refused a 9th bottle of plonk in the club one night?
