Paseka Released

We would have to be signing someone pretty bloody good for this to make any sense. Either one of Manly's very best juniors (a backrower perhaps) or a current NRL player not getting a shot at another club.

It's like anytime clubs come and ask us about our juniors:
"Hey this kid goes pretty good, can we have him for free?"
WT: "Sure, no problem".
"Really? That's awesome, you're a legend mate! I'll send you a fruit basket to say thanks!"
WT:" That's very generous of you. Pleasure doing business"

I agree with you BB, surely there has to be something in it for our club. Our recruitment officer is a former Eagle so I will be watching to see the quality of player he attracts. As its stands, we have lost Paseka and Papenhuyzen from our U20s. For a development club, this is astounding and the lack of information to supporters leads to undue speculation.

why would you resign paseka for 2 years just to release him after 4 rounds in the first year of his new contract? especially if we get nothing in return
still hoping this is not true because it's extremely disappointing if it is
our club frustrates the hell out of me

Fox news has him signing with Manly, a very disturbing pattern arising here, anyone with a bit of ability has no confidence in staying with the tigers, they can only see progression with other clubs.

If true, I can only think it's that the club didn't think he was living up to his big money deal and want the cash for other re-signings.

Oh no we lost a guy with zero first grade experience who was struggling in a state cup side being flogged by everyone. Please don't be true!

He's got size, which we need. I can only think how much better we'd be going if we still had Taupau - just for some size and aggression.

Not that I would have paid what Manly offered him, but still.

Long story short - Canberra and other big teams will keep pumping us until we get some size.

But this is half the problem. There is no information, no interaction with members or fans. We're left to deal in rumour and conjecture.

We aren't "left" to deal in rumour and conjecture, that's normally where we start! Forums are 75% opinion and conjecture, with a dab of researched public news and official statements.

I'm a member, they send me emails every single week about the team and players. They also send me every official team press release as soon as it come out. What more should I be expecting? A direct line to Pascoe? Sign a confidentiality statement and be sent insider info? I pay to attend a set number of games and to sweeten the deal the club gives a little special treatment, that's it.

Why do you expect the club to come out and respond to every rumour? And immediately too, this thread is only 3 days old. The club makes their statements when they believe it is appropriate, they can't be engaging with every piece of rumour that gets generated on the internet.

Taniela Paseka's profile isn't in the player profiles on the Tigers site anymore. I think that says it all unfortunately.

If this is true I'm done

But you only just got here…

I'm done till I get over it lol…but I'm getting frustrated... Supporting your team is ment to be fun and it is just sometimes I wonder

It's how you stick together in the bad times that defines the good times NRLCT.

For a while a few years back I was getting close to walking but I just keep saying that we will get there eventually. Even the teams run like rubbish have purple patches and make a fist of it. If we eventually taste success again it will be so much sweeter.

I hate losing footy but let's also remember that hard times in rugby league mean you don't win enough. In the scheme of things it's a pretty low key "bad time".

And if not winning enough really causes someone actual ongoing mental/emotional problems, they probably need to have a long think about that.

More on it from FS.
I would assume they're guessing, but they are suggesting he's gone to Manly to play NRL right away.

Yeah of course. It's a bummer watching your team get throttled most weeks but it's certainly not as bad as battling cancer or wondering where the next meal is coming from. But following a battling side makes the victories all the more valuable. Most Balmain and Wests fans will attest to that.

Some just get jack of the circus though. Or they get sick of lack of success they go follow another team.

Who cares a guy that is big running around with boys ..I have seen this guy play on many occasions my initial reaction LAZY!

If he's been released then yes they should make that public. I don't expect the club to respond to every rumour - I do expect them to inform me when a player leaves. In this case it is being reported in reputable press as happening so yes it's reasonable for the club to use its social media platforms to respond. If we can be told everytime Chris Lawrence reads a book to a school kid they can take 30 seconds to respond to this.

Your sarcasm notwithstanding, I don't believe it's unreasonable for members and fans to be kept appraised of such things. If you're happy being treated like a mushroom fine - you can learn about player movements when you see the team lists in Big League.
