But this is half the problem. There is no information, no interaction with members or fans. We're left to deal in rumour and conjecture.

We aren't "left" to deal in rumour and conjecture, that's normally where we start! Forums are 75% opinion and conjecture, with a dab of researched public news and official statements.

I'm a member, they send me emails every single week about the team and players. They also send me every official team press release as soon as it come out. What more should I be expecting? A direct line to Pascoe? Sign a confidentiality statement and be sent insider info? I pay to attend a set number of games and to sweeten the deal the club gives a little special treatment, that's it.

Why do you expect the club to come out and respond to every rumour? And immediately too, this thread is only 3 days old. The club makes their statements when they believe it is appropriate, they can't be engaging with every piece of rumour that gets generated on the internet.

If he's been released then yes they should make that public. I don't expect the club to respond to every rumour - I do expect them to inform me when a player leaves. In this case it is being reported in reputable press as happening so yes it's reasonable for the club to use its social media platforms to respond. If we can be told everytime Chris Lawrence reads a book to a school kid they can take 30 seconds to respond to this.

Your sarcasm notwithstanding, I don't believe it's unreasonable for members and fans to be kept appraised of such things. If you're happy being treated like a mushroom fine - you can learn about player movements when you see the team lists in Big League.

Do clubs really do that? Have you previously been officially informed about every player movement? Do the Dogs do this with their lower graders?

Don't get me wrong I assume if he's gone they'll say something when the timing is right. Maybe they are holding back because there's enough media circus with the coach and "Big 4".

Ultimately what does it matter if you hear a rumour and the club takes their time to confirm it? Paseka's not playing first grade any time soon, are you an avid NYC fan? I'm not mocking you, I wasn't even being sarcastic in my previous post.

Apparently Paps has gone to Melbourne but I don't believe Tigers have released a statement about that either.

Quickly becoming one of my favourite posters, Jirskyr (any help on the pronunciation by the way?). Fact is the bloke plays NYC, may have a couple of reserve grade notches on his belt but that's it. Same way nothing has been said about Papenhuyzen. The bloke has a bunch of potential, but we have absolutely no idea about the workings of his potential (there's that word again) deal with Manly. We on this forum are about as close to the 1% as you can get. Most are members, some supposedly are close to 'sources', and all are lifelong Tigers fans who spend their free time speculating and spit-balling about their team. We can't expect special treatment just because we hang out online behind confusing usernames, the club does their part in letting members know if and when stuff happens, so let's all just sit on our hands and see what eventuates.

The club is getting a PR battering week after week, would be good for them to own this story early in the piece to stem the tide of negative stories (that have already started).
I imagine we'll get eventually something in time - WT released a statement on Rod Griffin leaving (http://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2017/02/08/wests_tigers_release.html), so I imagine they'll do the same for Paseka.
I do hope a journo asks the club why the release has been granted though - either at Webster's presser tomorrow, or for Cleary's unveiling (presumably early next week).

We would have to be signing someone pretty bloody good for this to make any sense. Either one of Manly's very best juniors (a backrower perhaps) or a current NRL player not getting a shot at another club.

It's like anytime clubs come and ask us about our juniors:
"Hey this kid goes pretty good, can we have him for free?"
WT: "Sure, no problem".
"Really? That's awesome, you're a legend mate! I'll send you a fruit basket to say thanks!"
WT:" That's very generous of you. Pleasure doing business"

I agree with you BB, surely there has to be something in it for our club. Our recruitment officer is a former Eagle so I will be watching to see the quality of player he attracts. As its stands, we have lost Paseka and Papenhuyzen from our U20s. For a development club, this is astounding and the lack of information to supporters leads to undue speculation.

The loss of paseka and papenhuyzen will be compounded if we also fail to sign woods and teddy

It's not a real word so you can pronounce it however you like. I don't know if I've even said it out loud before.

I made it up at the beginning of the internet, yes way back then, to try and have something unique that would always be me, unlikely to be anyone else.

We do not know with what has happened behind the scenes. He may have just requested a release and the powers to be have said yes. I think we have to get the balance right between trying to develop kids and buying the real deal. At present we are not going to flash with a team top heavy with promising juniors

off to Manly apparently we have agreed to release him…..Why did we let this monster go??...he is just what we need....surely its not due to salary cap issues!!!

They're saying on the Fox Sports site he could be playing for Manly by round 7.
**QUESTION** 'Is it ok if I break my contract to play for Manly, even though our first grade forward pack is full of midgets?
**ANSWER** 'No problems, son, off you go…'
This guy was in our top 25 - look at who we still have and ask yourself what idiot is running this club.

The issue for me is the never ending stream of players going in one direction. If Paseka was the first i wouldn't be so annoyed but when does it stop?

The second thing is we now seem to have created a culture where you can sign a contract and as soon as you dont make the NRL squad in week 1 you can walk. No wonder we have no depth!

You could ask why he was not picked in the NRL squad if he is as good as they say, who picks the team?

There has got to be a reason for this. Maybe, the coaching staff don't rate him. Maybe, they have agreed to a player swap. Maybe, he has a poor attitude at training. Maybe, the club was over the second tier salary cap. Maybe, he wasn't worth the money he was on.

Point is, I don't think a GM, three coaches, a CEO and an entire board just released a potential star from their contract for no reason.

Well he's what 18 and just starting. The point is more they signed him until next year to develop him but now they let him go. Why not retain him and see what happens? I don't see the upside in releasing him.

Was he (Papanhuyzen) released or just not re-signed? He's a top 25 player supposedly. If it's good enough to spruik his re-signing not so long ago why is he at another club with no announcement? Let's be honest - he's not a bog standard U/20 jobber. He's a 200cm giant the club have talked up. As members and fans who pay the money to keep the club running I don't think it's unreasonable to get answers. No I don't expect them to respond to every rumour on Ali's crap rumours but this is on Fox Sports. The club has been asked about it on Twitter and Facebook. It's not asking the world for a denial or a confirmation. As it is he's in a team one week and not named the next. If he's not injured the club should say why he's not in any side.

It doesn't matter if he was going to play NRL this year ir not. He's a giant and obviously a future prospect. He was a player many supporters regarded ad an important piece of our future.

This is terrible news if true, there has got to be a bloody good reason or somebody should be getting fired (as well as Taylor). Why on earth weren't we playing him in first grade?

Didn't we just re-sign him at the end of last year? If so who made that decision & why the sudden change of heart inside 6 months. This club is seriously a recruitment and retention shambles.
I hope we are not subsidising a cent of his contract.

I hope so too. I hope we don't flick Felise and Tatola just yet because I have faith these boys will be regular FG players in a year or two.

If Felise or Tatola leave, we won't have enough front rowers left to play NSW cup.
