Really proud of the KOE boys yesterday. Showed a lot of effort against an always well gelled and trained Jets. Doesn't help when they can bring Hamlin uele and Rudolf on for the last 15-20 mins.
I feel Lobb, Feledy and Saukuru played well.
Lobb obviously struggled kicking but he had some great moments and I feel we will definitely see him back in first grade. I will say he is definitely not a first grader though and will bounce around KOE teams for his career.
Saukuru looked big and strong. Definitely didn't struggle to defend due to size. I feel there is something there but then again he will play out this season in reserve grade.
Very happy with Feledy in attack. Him and Lobb definitely the favoured side of the field. Strong and gritty but not that smart. Kind of a shame he hasn't played out like the club wished but some good effort and a lesson or two from Chris Lawrence wouldn't hurt.
The forwards did well and held their own. Quite a few lapses letting a couple tries up the middle.
Jordan Miller surprisingly played big minutes and didn't disappoint. Great runs bringing in at least 3 defenders sometimes 4. Thought they definitely relied on him as a crutch and i think that is bound to happen when Johanssen and Porter are the starting props. Really happy with his big minutes and I didn't see anything too shocking in defence from him.
Bud Sullivan was horrendous. In a side that is begging for a leader he was M.I.A. Had some shocking handling errors and didn't stand up when the team needed him most.
Latu Fainu looked alright in his return. Did his job and not much else. In one of the stranger things i have seen he left the ground at halftime in full kit due to restricted minutes to load manage. Came back with 10 to go. Brent Naden did his job and nothing else. Found he was playing hero ball looking for the outstanding plays to win it but it just didn't happen. When they needed a pass he ran it on multiple occasion. Definitely in England next year.
Tallyn was definitely an interesting one. Very poor service from dummy half but was great in defence. I have heard from the S and C staff he does lift well above average for his size. Lets hope Robbie teaches him a few things.
Very happy with the brave and valiant performane. Newtown are never an easy team to come up against and I believe this is the strongest team magpies have put on the park this year. With Sullivan at seven he really needs to stand up as a leader. Otherwise onto next week aganst the chooks at Wenty.
