So the pearce rumour is doing the rounds.

I could live with that. Imagine if we somehow managed to snag Jennings too.

The same old wet panty brigade will shoot me down for this like normal but what I'm hearing from a someone within the roosters is that there is a lot of talk about Pearce coming to tigers and a swap deal for none other than Benji Marshall.

No idea if it's fair dinkum but it's being mentioned quite a bit over there.
 
Swap deals count on the player actually wanting to go to the club in question. I just can't see Benji going to the Roosters.
 
I don't put too much stock in these fortune cookie rumours other than to discuss them hypothetically on the internet where they belong. That being said Pearce and Anasta are a proven halves combination that would work straight out of the box. You could do a lot worse for a football team.
 
I'd be stunned if he came here. Not because of what he said in the past about being reluctant to follow his father's footsteps but purely because i don't see how we could possibly afford him. If this club was looking to bring in a halfback it would be someone along the lines of Chad Townsend or Aiden Sezer. A player of that calibre. However i don't see us even doing that as we do have Miller and later down the track Moses, Brooks. I think it's better for us to work within our own stocks.

i did read that the money wasnt an issue for him in his next contract.
as crazy a time it is at tiger town right now, we have been pretty stable with our playing roster.
it was only a matter of time before junior found the right technique to win mitchell over, i wouldn't be surprised if this rumour had some merit.
 
Do we even consider the salary cap at our club?

Even if it went up to $6 million, we couldn't afford a roster with Pearce, Marshall, Jennings, Farah, Blair. All 5 players are earning AT LEAST $400,000\. That's $2.4 million in 5 players. Madness.

Some of those blokes would be on 3rd party deals but I take your point. Still it would solve a few issues as unlikely as it is to happen.

Ah the off-season or as the Aboriginals call in, The Dream Time…

Quade Cooper wants to play NRL with SBW, Maybe they will release Pearce to us, that would be nice. I still think they have the money to put a deal together.
