He got Reece Walsh to the warriors, turned the panthers around. That’s a massive scoop for the bulldogs

Yeah even if it the perception that Gould is or isn't successful ......Gould's name alone will help them ...helps with them getting back to becoming the Family Club as they claim

Maybe. It seems odd they’d do this after buying up everyone on the market. I doubt TPJ or Dale F give a flying fig about Gus or Tim Sheens.

They do if it helps attract better players ......that helps them become a more attractive club

The question is, do they? Long-term we’re probably better placed with some like Tahu on our books than Gus or Timbo. The Dogs signed a lot of players before Gould came on board.

Have they got teh right players though ......

When Gould was at Penrith he saw what the problem was at in 2018 for 2019 ...they basically only needed a hooker ....and then grabbed best one on the market .....

He obviously ruffled some feathers at Penrith though, in the end they decided to take on Ivan and get rid of Gus.

Gus is like that ...he ruffles everyone's feather's ...most people like that do .....

Agree. He will ruffle feathers to achieve success, something we have lacked because the people in higher powers are more worried about protecting their jobs. . The junior development at the panthers is all him. He will do that at the bulldogs and sell the dream to promising juniors and their families. I hope sheens can do that here.

What worries me about Sheens , when he tried to put his foot down at the WT's ......it got eaten off by the senior players

The main agitators are gone. To me the last remaining senior players who could cause drama are Nofa, brooks and mbye. If these guys are still agitating behind the scenes then I’m happy for all of them to be moved on.

Farah ......

Farah the greatest dummy spitter ever to wear a Weststigers jumper ! Ask Potter if Farah is a agitator????

Bee sting head big deal , straight to MacArthur region again who cares good luck to him.
It is very obvious where the Tigers future path ways are coming from and most of it will not be from the South West some yes but not all ..

Bad news for us I reckon. He has been lobbying hard to get any NRL team more involved in the South West Sydney. He will really try to get the Bulldogs paws up in the Campbelltown/Narellan area with the new set ups there.

My thoughts exactly. Its a great pick up for the Dogs and could be a significant blow to Wests Tigers. Gould was approached before Magic round and there is no way he takes on the role without doing his homework. When asked in recent times about WT he has always said we should base ourselves at Campbelltown and take advantage of the growth and potential there. Make no mistake, the Dogs will target that area and they will target it hard. We will have nobody to blame but ourselves. You snooze you lose.

they will move to take over Liverpool area not campbletown perfect for if this new stadium comes about
**if campbletown was the great messiah some say regarding growth then Magpies would never have had to merge**
WT needs both junior bases balmain and Csmpbletown to survive

That would have far more to do with poor strategy than anything else.

WT need both areas to develop if they lose campbletown or Balmain areas we are stuffed.
Liverpool is practically dogs territory now that will be Gould's target

I don't disagree we need both areas, but if you think for a minute that Gould will see the Campbelltown border and steer clear then you have rocks in your head. I mean even Souths who are nowhere near the place see a chink in WT armour there.

Liverpool is Gus's target not campbletown if they capture Liverpool they make that new stadium if built there fortress
southsplay one trial game who cares the membership data probably backs up plenty of souths members like all other teams members are based in campbletown area it is not a fan base exclusive to Wests Tigers never was even when it was Magpies

We’ll see. I’m not sure Gus is the great mastermind he’s made out to be.

You seen Penrith lately?

Correlation does not imply causality…

Ask anyone at Penrith and see what they say. This forum is amazing - Cleary can't take credit for it and Gould can't either apparently

Forum being the key word. It’s not an indoctrination factory. You believe what you want to believe and let others do likewise.

Jim Jones, Theo Kubrica and Tom Anderson drive Penrith Junior pathways and development have done for over a decade.. never heard of them..not surprising ..Bee-sting heads to big..

Which is why people like Hartigan and even Tahu are vital for our long term prospects. Very few if any teams win premierships by buying a roster of established NRL players. You become strong by having good long term recruitment programmes.

Mathew Betsey's appointment in the pathways is a critical appointment as well.

Early Identification plays a big part... Hartigan and Woodward on the right track..

Early Identification and then developing that talent and I think that is the process we are strengthening at the moments with the appointments we have made into our pathways programs.

WT brans is definitely dying. Let's see what Sheens does.

That's baloney. The Wests Tigers brand is very strong - membership numbers are high, self-reported supporters are high, merch sales are good, TV viewership is good, crowds are OK.

All for a side that doesn't make the finals.

I think a bloke like Gould (especially now he is older) has a limited life span at any organisation. He is full of his own importance and wouldn’t pull any punches.
This is not necessarily a bad thing because along with this arrogance he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. No doubt Penrith are now benefiting from Gould’s influence.
I think sheens will be good for us but similarly, I think Gould will be good for the bulldogs

Makes me think of Brian Smith or Warren Ryan - very smart rugby league minds but only have a shelf life of a few seasons.

The only good thing is when it happens this time we will be in a better position to manage and maintain it unlike in 2010/11 when we off the field we were a mess.

Feel like he's buying into what Madges trying to build.

Appears to be one of a few that actually tries each week... maybe his ability let's him down but it's not his heart.

I think we all know who really are the sooks... as displayed on field (and on twitter)
