All wingers at all clubs are told to support their centre if they go in,the FB/cover is supposed to look after overlaps

Support their Centre? Nofa rushed in so far he was inside doueihi on the last try.

We know for years that Nofoaluma's positional game is awful, any team that attacks our right side exposes this weakness, we changed quite a few players there and he remains the weak point every time. His hard carries, and attacking game is very good, but sadly, worth nothing because of his defense.

If an assistant coach actually did their research they would of seen the Warriors all year have a high completion rate minimal risk approach and spread the ball with fast, flat long cut out balls.

If you play compressed defense they will wipe you off the park.

Regardless of our defensive structure the usual mistakes every game where made. BJ made terrible decisions as always & had no urgency, Talau was found out as a winger yet again and Nofa failed when it mattered the most which surprise no one.

Warriors did their homework we didn’t.

100000000% this.

Even me, as a fan, knew this was coming. The moment Walsh was picked, it was coming.

Yet absolutely zero adjustments. Defies...belief...

They're poorly coached in my opinion, and this is reflective of Madge refusing to hire good support staff.

Something Harry Grant said on the Matty Johns show last week stuck with me. They were baiting him to bag the Tigers and the difference between us and Melbourne. He said Madge is more of an individual coach, he works with the players one on one, but Craig sees the big picture.

Couldn't think of a better way to sum it up, it's 17 individuals out there each week. They don't defend for each other or even trust each other to make a tackle.

I think we are all asking the same question Tiger Heart. Beyond belief.

Its been noted in several threads we have a distinct lack of football brains on the paddock.

Good
Forwards are now doing their job, Brooks is performing better, Doueihi and Laurie are doing well. Our spine is beginning to settle, or atleast is was until Maguire moved Doueihi. Our hookers are developing but neither looks to be an 80 minute player meaning the interchange will have to carry one of them or we need to recruit a utility player for interchange that can also play hooker as well as backrow. I do think we are getting there but we ahve to overcome the bad noted below, Hartigan's recruitment efforts of youth are will slowly wash through the grades.

Bad
Mbye continues to be unreliable in performance and contribution wherever he is played- every so often good, mostly MIA, the backline lacks speed and footy nous, they continually fall prey to basic mistakes that should not be in a NRL standard player, having to carry 2nd hooker on bench doesnt allow a replacement back in the interchange. The loss of Momo for Laurie was foreseeable after the pot luck signing of Roberts for the season happened. If we didnt sign Roberts and kept Momo in the centers I think we'd be better, maybe another player could / should have been traded but by te time this talk was happeninig Momo already wanted out because we signed Roberts..

Coach
His assistants dont seem to be setting the world on fire defensively or offensively- we cant score much even with players off for the other side, defensively the other side having a man down didnt hinder their attack on bit, Maguire's selections and use of the bench is weird, players too often seem unmotivated / not there, he seems to be having trouble quickly modifying tactics and plays to match the opposition every week, does seem to keep selecting favourites despite poor performance, he is not a drawcard for recruitment despite being NZRL head coach.

We certainly need to target recruitment for the backline refreshing especially wingers and looks like both starting centres of BJ and Roberts are both not worth keeping too. We have Hastings and Gildart coming for next season so that will hopefully be part of the solution.

Our edges made our wingers look worse than they played, surely we don’t expect our wingers to mark 2 players at the same time. This comes down to poor preparation for the game as we should have probably expected it and rts and Walsh are just really good.

chance

I'm starting a my little pony collection.

I was at the game (my bad). Here's my brief summary.
Too many simple stupid errors that led to tries from that set. Like we have done since 2011 we make an error then walk around kicking stones instead of muscling up and making amends. Zero toughness or resilience.
Defence on both edges is the worst in the league. Talu was terrible last night, almost comical. Nofa has no idea pisitionally.
Nikorama, Walsh and RTS were all class for the Warriors. They looked great with ball in hand. They were dangerous because they are skilled. We don't have skill. Brooks had the ball a lot and while he tried hard he lacks skill and still does not have the ability to nail a game because he doesn't read it all that well.
Mbye does my head in. Threw a good pass for Garner to score but mostly looks lazy and uninterested.
Forwards did well, they held their own.
As I said before, our main problem is that We are an unskilled footy team and are sitting rightly so on the ladder.

I nearly threw my remote at the screen when Nofa did that.
Beggars belief a first grade winger with 150 NRL games under his belt still still does that.

I learnt not to shoot up on my own goal line like that in under 13s...

He surely isn’t told to run between players to force a harbour bridge pass then walk back to the try line he is supposed to be defending.

I think they're poorly coached. But Bellamy could coach Nofo and it wouldn't make a difference. He's incapable of learning and he's made the same mistakes his entire career. He's a liability.

To say it’s all their fault is ridiculous and clueless, they get told to do that. It’s been part of our defensive shape ever since madge came in regardless of who’s there

This seems to be a particularly bad season for us, I doubt we can come back from this while everything remains as it is , I don't know what has to change, but we may be starting to become the laughing stock and I can understand that as we are just so bad it pains me to say that, you are right about Douiehi he seems to be the only bright spark at this club:disappointed_relieved:
