Good to see that most here seem to see through the charlatan that Morrison is. A truly shallow human being of little substance, marketing his way through with announcements of announcements at our expense.

Hate the use of sport and our flag by him, just about more than anything else.

We have a Prime Minister and his representative in Gaejtens obfuscating again, basically lying to us and particularly the Australian women amongst us, whilst putting forward and hiding behind both an AFP investigation and a defamation suit to shield them from scrutiny.

Hiding behind an AFP investigation?

If it is true (was stated in parliament) that the AFP told them that the parliamentary inquiry could jeopardise the police investigation, what choice did they have other than to suspend the paliamentary investigation?

The implication is that the parliamentary investigation should proceed and potentially cost a Lib politician their job, but the alleged rapist gets off?

This is my problem with this whole case, it seems to be so specifically politically driven. IMO the number one thing is the bloke that did this gets what he deserves.

It only remains so political because the close second thing is this lying disgraceful Prime Minister and the office he directs is yet to be fully exposed because of cover up upon cover up.

We are already paying to cover up their lies and a defamation case is now in play to assist them and it must stop.

That may all be 100% correct, but if the AFP instructs them that the parliamentary inquiry will jeopardise the criminal investigation, what choice would they have other than to suspend the parliamentary inquiry?

If they had said that, then possibly, but they didn't and it was Gaejtens decision.

It was stated in a senate hearing by Gaetjens.

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/afp-boss-concerned-about-inquiry-into-who-knew-about-brittany-higgins-case-20210322-p57cts.html

*“I support his decision to put on hold the process of finalising his inquiry,” Mr Kershaw said in the statement. “When the AFP has clarity about whether there is no intersection between Mr Gaetjens’ administrative inquiry and the criminal investigation I will contact Mr Gaetjens so he can move to completion of his inquiry.”*

edit: Senates hearing not parliament

As it was stated by the AFP in the adjoining hearings the he was not asked to stop the inquiry.

*“I was strongly advised, I think would probably be the expression, to make sure there was no intersection with the criminal investigation and as a result, I have decided to pause the inquiry,” Mr Gaetjens said.*

*"Later, Mr Kershaw issued a statement confirming Mr Gaetjens’ characterisation of his advice and saying he supported the department head’s decision not to comment on the process or content of his inquiry."*

Semantics, Im not sure what options you think that they have? Push on a political investigation and jeopardise a criminal one?

Yeah, after political pressure a statement was released that assisted the government.

the AFP are lying to protect the Government?

Occams razor.

Does that seem more likely than there are actual concerns that the parliamentary inquiry could jeopardise the criminal investigation?

More importantly, in the meantime, I hope that the insert suitable profanity here will be forced by Lambie and others to call for a Royal Commission into veterans deaths.

Well we didn’t get our Veterans Royal Commission and the PM for mine again showed that he is not a fit person to lead the country.

The party remains a men's club ruled by religious zealots and a few farther right members, this statement regarding Eric Abetz who should have long been removed from the party, illustrates just how far out of touch these powerful men are.

Scamo has just tripled the order for new carpet.I dont think we have ever had a more dishonest federal government than this one.We have had dishonest politicians in the past from both sides of politics but this bloke is a total fraud

That he is. Prior to his tenure it was hard to imagine that we would ever have a worse PM than Abbott, but Morrison is waaay more than just next level worse. Hard to comprehend that a guy that said women should come forward and they will be believed subsequently rejects those that do.

There are witnesses to corroborate her statement, having talked of Abetz's words to others on the night and even the Tasmanian premier has also been aware for weeks after having been told, yet all our PM needs is a denial from a counterpart to get the broom out to brush more misogyny and/or abuse under the already bulging rug or floor covering you alluded to.

He will cut others loose shortly as he is bleeding out politically, now gushing more and more each day as many of the previously blinded now increasingly see straight through him.

ScaMo bit the hand the fed him with that rubbish News sex scandal claim.

The kingmaker will not be pleased, and not only do I think now is a spill likely, but moreso inevitable.

If I was pulling the strings and had to do stimulus, I would be investing massively in productive infrastructure (not endless new freeways). In particular I would be building energy storage projects. Within 2-3 years you could have 100 + 'big batteries' across the country - built in economically struggling regions if need be. These are much cheaper and years quicker than something like Snowy 2.0, and also easier to upgrade and improve as technology evolves. Gets people in work, improves grid reliability, brings down energy prices for the whole economy, good for the environment.

Wow!!! very impressive reading from you @TillLindemann.
It's decent honest dudes like you we need running the country as an **Independent** Pollie.

Thank you kind sir. I think I'd be a terrible politician though. I'm good at pontificating from the sidelines, I'd be a plodder of a pollie though! But I agree we need more independents.

One of the worst things that happened in this country was when all the good work Don Chipp did was destroyed by that woman who decided to go "all the way with John Howard".I refuse to even name her as she sold out all the principles that Chipp had brought to the political arena and made Australia accountable
Needless to say the party no longer exists and the philosophy of "keeping the bastards honest" no longer exists.Exhibit A Scammo
