Potter at pains to play Brooks

'science' plays a big role in determining whether a young man is ready nowadays.

1/ what weights is he Lifting, Not just when fresh but under fatigue
2/ how much growing he has left
3/ stamina, fitness
4/ injury history
5/ bloods?

These things vary greatly in 18 years olds.

I'd be guessing the strength & conditioning and physio guys have a big say, whereas in part times, the coach maybe asked the kids parents and the junior coach if they were happy to go with it…

Going on our injury record this year I would not trust any of our physio, strength and conditioning guys and I hope Potter is of the same opinion.

I still believe there is more to the Miller thing that's being made out. While he hasnt played brilliantly, he hasnt gone out and made a mess of things either, considering experience and tenure. Potter is already desperate for options, and to throw a kid in with hardly any NYC experience and absolute no FG experience over Miller tells me there's more stuff going down at the club with Miller than we are all lead to believe. especially as it will be for only a few rounds (until Anasta returns).

What exactly Miller has done beyond his normal duties I don't know, but there is certainly must be something.

There has always been stories about his attitude, dont know if they are true, but this could be playing a role.

pure conjecture on my behalf.

I agree that there appears to be something odd going on in the team or between Farah/Miller. :crazy Miller does seem to be the best person for the job this week, so why isn't he a run in for that position, at least he has some experience in FG, the thought of throwing Brookes in the deep end does not seem to be a good idea :bulb: I say give Miller another go 😕 and if there are problems within the team that should be sorted out quickly

I'm another one who is not aware if there is in fact some tension between Miller- Farah or Miller with anyone in the FG Team/Coach but its clearly obvious Potter is trying to find any and every reason not to play Miller otherwise he wouldnt even have thought of Brookes.

Sheens didnt like any of his boys having attitude, he was really quick to clip their wings. And the way he did that was limit the time a player spent on the field in FG. We all cried to have Fifita on for longer but Sheens only used him in little spells. If Miller has/had attitude issues Sheens would have never considered him- Thats my take.

Clearly there is a lot more to the story we arent aware of.
And as many have said, regardless of who plays 7 he will get hammered.

I think you may be onto something there Goose. I remember watching him a lot in NYC, and it was as if he played/carried himself like a spoilt brat, almost as if his S#$T didn't stink. Don't get me wrong, that can work in your favour if you have the talent to back it - after all arrogance can stem brilliance. I also think we have enough spoilt brats in FG which could be the problem as well.

Watched Miller a lot in his 2 years in NYC and agree on the 'spoiled brat' attitude. What made me realise how much he thought his " S#$T didn't stink" was at a Membership Day at Concord pre season this year when I watched the way he 'pranced' around with Moltzen. Think with Miller the problem is whilst he thinks he can 'talk the 'talk' he can't 'walk the walk' and Potter to his credit game him a chance but realises unless Miller can stop thinking he should be in NRL and earns the right ..he will never get there under Potter

One of Potters philosophies is one must earn the right….Miller mustn't have done this.

Maybe Miller has already signed for Hull FC for the remainder of the season and they are waiting for his Visa to arrive before announcing it and flying over?

And they've reached an agreement with Wests not to play him in the meantime?

Maybe?

I'm getting tired of this player of the future crap. I remember hearing that so much about jake mullaney and then good bye. Never played 1 first grade game for us.
Everyone suggesting miller obviously didn't see his game on the weekend. He struggled. So why would he go any better in firsts. Yes he may have trained all off season but he is not a first grade HB.
From what I've seen of brooks I think he will be fine. I think potter needs to take risks and I think he is leaning towards brooks.

He didnt handle state cup too well by all reports….club would be mad to put a kid in first grade without too many old heads to protect him when we get smashed on Fri.....but it wouldnt surprise me if they do

So you tell me what Sirros done to 'earn the right' to be there that Miller hasnt done….

Whens Miller talked the talk?
I dont think Ive heard him interviewd

whats the worst could happen if he does get a run. he gets targeted and we lose. whoever plays 7 this weekend will get targeted. Also a very good chance we'll lose. So roll the dice Pottzy. Could be the rookie of the year decision or it could be a lesson he's not ready yet. Half a dozen in one hand 6 in the other. Or this case it's a 7.

Or his body isnt up to it and he ends up broken like everyone else at concord

When did brooks not handle state cup well? wouldnt mind having a read of the match report cause i thought he did well in nsw cup trial matches…

I can't wait to see Brooks, but I think it may be too soon.

1\. Teddy
2\. Koro
3\. Reddy
4\. Simona
5\. Utai
6\. Sirro
7\. Miller

I'd be okay with that.

Thats the best i can think of unless there is someone with more skill set than Simona.
At least Miller = Goal Kicking + last chance to prove his critics wrong.(that is if he does get the gig  )

I really think that Farah has too much say in this team. We really need a strong minded coach.

True words right here.

_Posted using RoarFEED 2013_

No disrespect but I disagree. Farah is the captain and should get a say. When the players are on the field where is Mick Potter? He is sitting in the box and they go to Farah for any help, the captain is like a second coach. he is the only person that should have a say though.

How does anyone on here claim to know how much say Farah has in the team? All this nonsense about Miller being held back by Farah is BS.

I'd love to plant a bug to get the truth about everything but i guess speculations keep the world going around,.
Life would be pretty boring without gossip and speculation.

I remember Farah facing the media once before putting claims to bed that him and Benj had some rift.

I genuinely believe there is more to Miller's dropping than just 'bad' form.

Despite what most people on here think, Miller wasn't bad enough to be dropped and should have been persevered with. He had one bad game, and that was when we were hopeless against the Knights in round 1\. Other games he was decent enough to hold his position if it was solely based on his performance.

I don't buy into rumours easily, but there is obviously more to this.

Will be very interesting to see if he gets a chance this week.
