Potter bringing common sense to WT (selection and gameplan)

He picked a 6 to replace a 6\. He picked a 1 to replace a 1\. He put faith in youth and in specialist positions.He picked players hungry to perform. He didn't shuffle a forward to five-eight, or a centre to fullback. Hence minimal disruptions to a team playing well and a great TEAM performance tonight.

Playing 4 forwards on the bench and rolling through the middle. Each week we will be very competitive with this game plan. Robbie Farah is destroying teams off the back of this. He is the dominat player in the competition. Notice he is rarely slipping into 7 or 6 this year during sets of six. 4 forwards off the ebcnh we wanted it for years!! Where are those wingers or 75k utilitys??

Under Sheens with 5 or 6 regulars out we were always basket case. Blokes would be shuffled out of positions, game plans would get fancier. Tonight without 5 or 6 regulars we looked like a well drilled football side. I have not seen that in years from the Tiges.

Its just so refreshing. Farah will be out next week more then likely. If im ont he money Potter will pick a genuine Number 9 and it is next man up so to speak.

Common sense at WT!! Wow, i never thought i would see the way after years at banging my head against a brick wall with Sheens.

We are looking good. Not sure Rowe is the right guy for fullback but respect Potter for giving him a go.

Im not getting too carried away. I recall winning 7 in a row in 2012 and also remember what happened at the end of that season.

What i'm saying is he is building something more sustainable. A gameplan that is sustainable. A selection policy that breeds confidence and accountability.

We are playing 60-70 minutes good football in most games. We rarely ever did that under Sheens. Under Sheens we would be dreadful for 50 minutes and score a flukey late try and steal a win. I reckon we did that 10-12 times even in our good years.

I just like how their is more consistency in our performance during the 80 minutes and i put that down to coaching. Early days, but gee this side is only going to get better in the next couple of years.

Dont disagree. I have been his biggest critic but am pleasantly eating loads of humble pie this year. I hope to be eating plenty more.

If a prop goes down injured god forbid, he will ellivate a prop who is next in line to move up to the squad. Sheens used to move backrowers up front and replace thm with backs (who could ever forget Utai and Ryan playing in the pack?).

If a half goes down injured, then the next in line (Austin) is ellivated. With Sheens if we lost a half we would end up with a backrower or a centre playing 5/8…he even took Farah out of the pack to play half!

There is a succession plan. Injuries are taken in stride as contingencies seem to be in place and the guys out of the top squad know it. If they keep playing consistently well, they will play in the top grade.

For some reason hookers seem to need a few years in the NRL before they can perform well for an entire 80\. Farah, Smith, Luke and Ballin are the only ones that come to mind that play 80\. There may be more though.

Enjoying how a lot of people are getting a chance to show their abilities.

I thought he played the full eighty against the Dragons last year and went rather well, so it should not be a problem. He also trained the full off season as the top squad's prominent nine as Farah was hardly there until a few weeks before the season commenced.

If he cant go the 80 Fulton could fill in for 15-20 minutes

No as i said in the other thread id leave the bench, Fulton is the one under pressure.

I Would pick Luani at 9 and Austin at 6, and tell Braith he is 18th man. I would also look to keep the bench intact, we have the best bench in the comp. Minimal disruptions. Ok we would be real light on in experience however I like putting faith in youth, confidence is high.

I reckon Potter will pick Anasta because we are lacking experience in the backs for this match. However I just worry about where we are going to score points if Farah and Austin are both out. Where are our areas to attack, and cause Parra problems?
