Potter Gone - Contract Not renewed! Official!

If WT was a racehorse the stewards would now be putting up the screens and loading the .303 -surely we as busted as a club can possibly be without going under. Meanwhile the useless, incompetent clowns running our club are sitting up high on the mountain, happily watching the carnage unfold in the valley below. No point having a coach who the players supposedly don't want to play for (Potter) I guess. Who are the players gonna be pointing the finger at and shifting the blame to next season if they play as gutless and pathetic as this year?

Perhaps the WT official statement should of read: Dear WT fans….we are excited to announce that Mick Potter has been sacked, he never had the support of anyone in power at this club to begin with. We hope to announce a new coach by the end of October, by which time every decent player on the market will be signed to other clubs, so to tell you the real truth the new coach will be stuck with an identical squad to this season. We hope our playing group like their new coach or else we will be looking for another new coach for 2016\. We hope our extremely loyal (re: gullible) fans will continue to blindly support this farce of a club emotionally and more importantly financially (I need to be paid!). Enjoy your Xmas turkey suckers. Yours unsincerely Grant Mayer.

This is a wonderful post, and true in so many ways-unfortunately :brick:

Blind Freddy knew weeks ago Potter was gone, the club had to start a fresh after the events of the past two months and Potter was always going to be the fall guy.

In the short term their will be a lot of negative press directed at the club in the way they treated Potter, but that will soon be forgotten and replaced with positive press about the new coach and the new set up at the Tigers and that is what the board want, they want to divorce them self away from 2014 as quick as possible, and that would have not been possible with Potter at the helm because people would always be going back to what went on in 2014.

For the club to pull this off without taking a hit will depend very much in who they decide to fill the two big jobs. One would think they have to spend the dollars and get the best people, but the big question, do they have the dollars to spend????

I think they need a coach with a high profile and that really narrows the field to Griffin or Brown, all the others are assistant coaches at present, although now it is official I am sure names will pop up from left field.

Interesting times ahead and will keep these boards buzzing during what is usually a boring time

What are people's opinions on Griffin as a coach?
With the side he has at his disposal in Brisbane his results should be better, how much of that is due to his coaching ability though I don't know.

Bennett always had a stronger roster than Griffin has , when he coached the Broncos and didn't Always make the Semis.
When Griffin took over the team was not exaclly united and settled , but he a least has them running in the same direction

Griffin took over the Broncos at a time when they were unsettled and were going nowhere. No where near as good a line up as Bennett had to work with.

Were just a crap club , run by crap people , with crap money , with crap facilities , with crap home grounds , with a crap membership department ,…it's a crapathon !!!

Robbie would be hoping Nathan Brown doesn't get the job, he would probably call him over to the sideline and give him a head-slap ala Barrett and Lance Thompson. That would be a sight to see!

We won't make the 8 next year, or the year after that. I don't think we'll make the 8 ever again tbh because I think we'll get punted before we do.

here we go again. Let's exaggerate the hell out of everything

Look I really like Potter as a bloke. He has held himself so well considering all the BS he has had along the way.

Was he the best guy for the job though? I don't know. I really don't believe we saw the best out of him purely due to the injuries he's had to deal with for the last two seasons, let alone the off-field nonsense. When we could get a top squad on the park we looked the goods.

Did he deserve another contract? Yeah I reckon he did.

The reason purely being because I believe there are so many other people who deserve to go before him. Yeah, I realise were discussing the head coach, but maybe if he had some competent professionals surrounding him he would've been more successful.

Kidwell - our defence coach, where was our defence this year?

Payten - there for a giggle with his old mates?

Mayer - started strongly in the role but has proved he is just a tactical manipulator who plays on twitter and hides when the going gets tough.

Our strength & conditioning/rehab team - enough said. Sack the lot, Skando with his little Tafe certificate. Screw this jobs for the boys rubbish.

Our board - a weatherman, an Olympic swimmer, and some other knobs with too much pride of former clubs to look to the future.

Even our membership team sucks.

I just hope that with Mick gone there is many more to follow, he didn't deserve this crap. But my hat goes off to you mate, you handled it like a true professional, pity you just weren't surround by any others.

In essence it's hard to soar like and Eagle when working with Turkeys!

Especially when the Eagle has'nt shown that he flies very well.

Farah and Woods played state of origin this year and for the last six weeks or so of the competition proper they played like reserve graders. I have lost all respect for those two but especially for Robbie who was my favourite player not that long ago.

Can someone explain to me why so many people want Anthony Griffin?

He's the best available maybe? No one is saying he's a supercoach, but he's just about the best candidate whose out of a job. Its not like we have the money or the profile to poach Bellamy or Hasler. We're a poor club, we can only attract whose in within our means, and Griffin may be the best.

I like this quote

It justifies that Mick is not being renewed due to any of his failures, but previous board decisions made his contract renewal impossible. I hope he gets a gig somewhere else where management will support him.

Justice could well be served if the team he ends up coaching comes
along and knocks us out of the finals next year, or the year after.

I like Mick, but who the hell is going to appoint him now? Best shot he has is landing a role as an assistant somewhere and throw his name into the hat a couple yrs down the line when a vacancy comes up. No way is any team going to appoint him as head coach off the back of these 2 yrs.

Woods made an effort IMO , he just seemed burnt out at the end .
I too have lost ALL respect for Farah … Wish he'd team up with the only coach he rates ... RICKY STUPID !!

When does Robbie select the new coach?

_Posted using RoarFEED V.4_

Give it a break!!!!!
A new start with a new board and a new coach is what was needed.
Are we going to have put up with the same old garbage on here all over again for the next few seasons . There's just the odd chance that the board will select the new coach on the recommendation of Mayer, that's what really scares me. Then we really will have something to whinge about

AAh Robbie welcome back. The only time you comment on our forum is in your defence.Whilst getting tiresome your "lone wolf" antics are one your family members but not many else would be very proud of.

As I said before . just because you have this nice cuddly Bromance going on with Mayer , doesn't mean that anyone that disagrees with you is a friend/ relation of Farah . Despite the fact that you have made yourself a spokesman for the "World" , quite a few on here DO disagree with you on a quite a few things. Then again as most of the things you say are not backed up with any facts. I shouldn't be surprised if you want to go on with your usual crap of assuming you know everything So to again spoil your day , I am still not a relation of Farah , just a member of this forum that sees more value for Wests Tigers in one of our best players than I do in a know all like yourself , who knows no more than most to the other posters on here, My love to Grant.
