This is reminiscent of Parramatta's recruit policy last year, instead of embracing youth, bringing back bloke's in their 30's who were past their best some time ago.

I'd be spewing if I were BMM/Moors/Groat, and probably consider whether I was getting the respect and loyalty I deserved. All relatively young, 2 barely out of their teens, all showing promise at some stage throughout their so-far brief FG careers, stabbed in the back by the recruitment department by investing in a 32 year old Journeyman.

Umm all three are in or around first grade at the moment. Ray Cashmere is a stop gap solution for the remainder of 2012…

yeah he played well

Did we just buy him for the one game while Groat is out concussed?

Will he force someone out of the team? Moors couldn't crack it despite good form.

When Groat, Heighno and then Ellis are back, will $mere be back to State Cup?

Rhino might be in trouble

Wow I just went through this thread from start to finish . How it contrasts from start to end seems there might be some people with egg on the face today .

Yep I'll admit that I wasn't overly excited by his signing but he went pretty good yesterday. Let's me honest though, it was a solid front rowers performance rather than mind blowing. I agree it was exactly what we needed for the game - someone to run straight and hard but let's not pretend he's Artie Beetson… He had 12 runs for 85m. Acceptable stats but not game changing.

But didn't BMM and Moors play? And Groat was medically unfit? Ray Cashmere was signed as cover if we lost another prop. We lost another prop so he played. I think the criticism is unwarranted here…

i called for mason instead of cashmere , egg on my face , he played pretty well for a guy in the team 1 week , good luck to him , and the tigers

Let's hear your suggestions then, champ? It was either him or Mason… Who was off contract that you would have signed?

In any case, his signing appears to have been justified in the short term: he ran hard, crossed the chalk and was solid in defence.

i think you will find he made 101m,2 off loads,25 tackles and no missed tackles, throw in a try and way cheaper than Willie, and it is egg on faces all round, nice job Cash man, hope you hold your place in the team all year.

If we are looking for an experienced prop how about Ray Cashmere?

Currently playing for Illawarra in State Cup

32 years old
112 kgs
140 NRL games

Previously been at Wests Tigers.

Would not costs much money

He is the same age as Willie Mason without the baggage (I am not putting him in the same class as Mason who has played for Australia, won a Grand Final and Clive Churchill Medal)

George Rose is another name thrown around but to me he alwasy looks out of shape and a lazy player.

we chased him for the experience up front and to run hard tackle hard and tighten the ruck… he did all that yesterday and was not signed to be a game breaker...if he plays like that every week... well you have to say well done sheens!!
