Reddy to Souths

With Richards coming and the talented youth we have retained he was only there for added depth and even then his contract was too high to retain him for that role

Agreed - but in how in hell to South's fit anyone else under their salary cap?

No loss. Offers nothing other than being cheap. Slow, turnstile, cant defend kicks, can't break the line.

Maybe souths have signed him as a new training technique - human tackling bags!

Slow i'll give you and not a line breaker. But he's an excellent defender and great under the high ball
That's pretty unfair criticism

In an ideal world would i have him in the team? No but for the money he would be on he has done a solid job for us when called on.

Wish him all the best.

Matt King retiring helps a lot

Fact is, he's just not NRL quality and we have many players younger and better than him.

No point wasting cap space on a bloke who will sit in NSW Cup for 20 odd weeks of the year.

You can't build a squad without solid journeymen like Reddy. Seems like people think we can have 3 or 4 marquee players and fill the rest with players fresh out of NYC. Doesn't work as simply as that.

Reddy had a terrible first year with us, and we know he was carrying chronic injuries, but this year he stood up and was consistent and played well.

Put him in Souths back line and he will flourish. He won't cost a packet, and will fill a needed gap for them, I'd lay money on it if I could.

Not only King retiring but Asotasi off to the Super League, Everingham to Japanese Rugby & Hunt to Parramatta would have eased salary cap pressure for next year.

Well we signed Richards and Leulua and with the young 3 (Koro, Nofo and Simona) coming through plus Lawrence still here and Molten being around, the opportunities were limited. A smart move for him I feel.

Another past his use by date who won't crack it for first grade at souths … Lol isn't a regular at the lowly rated tigers . Is way too slow and doesn't have he work rat to play in the forwRds

This came as a huge relief. While he did do well for us when we were in the middle of our injury crisis i just really don't see anything in him. he'll be at souths playing the same role as kind of a back-up utility.

they can afford it because they've had to let go of a lot of players (asotasi, king etc.)to keep the burgess brothers together

id like to see farlow, akauola and fine given a chance at second row also

I think Reddy will do well at Souths. I saw Bryson Goodwin recover from two average years for the Bulldogs to have a great season this year for the Bunnies, and become a regular fixture in the side.

Everingham went from Magpies straight into the Souths starting side and set records for try scoring very early on.

People who say Reddy will struggle are kidding themselves.

Thanks for your efforts at wests-tigers Joel.
never know , you may be able to achieve your full potential at souths

I will miss Joel Reddy. He. Is one of those players that play with heart and put in 100 percent every week. A great example for younger players. Al the best Joel.

Totally agree. Reddy and even Utai are copping a lot of crap on this forum, yet it was these two old, slow guys taht kept us afloat in the bad times. The biggest asset for both, is they played with heart and passion, they wanted to be out ther playing, unlike some. Yes, it is proobably the right decision, but like mitch brown, maybe he can step up at another club? Good luck Joel, thanks for the effort.

Good luck to him… always had a soft spot for a good team man, slots in where ever needed, gives it his all whenever asked. He would have been solid depth for us, if only for ethic in training sessions....

Agree with many, he was never a natural, but made up for it in determination, sad to see him go.

Dylan Farrell also going to Dragons - plenty of cap space for Reddy, who I wish we'd hung onto, but cest la vie.

We signed Richards to replace Reddy. There's your Journeyman.

He's surplus to our needs and he's not good enough.

Simple.

Point still remains, you recruit and retain at all levels and Reddy is NRL standard.

This is the kind of loss I can deal with.
Not annoyed if we kept him,not upset we are losing him.

He was solid and safe without being spectacular.

His try against the Raiders this year and his blinder against the riff at the riff in 2012 stand out as highlights.
