Referendum 2023

Absolutely.
And your solution to rich toffs from Mosman getting lawyered out of trouble, is to give poor white eshays from Penriff harsher sentences than their Aboriginal equivalents, based on their skin pigmentation.

No. I don't want it to be like that at all. This is the zero-sum argument again though. I don't buy it.

It's also not based on skin-pigmentation.

That was your original argument - that we could solve Aboriginal incarceration rates by being more lenient towards them (and if the white eshay from Penrith or Campbelltown or Dubbo is not afforded the same leniency, then yes it absolutely is based on skin pigmentation).

What about the old people when cash becomes void. They can't bank at Macquarie any more. Can we spare a thought for our parents.

So why they be making a referendum about it? You see. Its more than that.

I get why the voice is being voted for. It still comes back to the two points I've mentioned and I haven't hear a single comment on those issues to change my mind.

The whole issue though is massive. There is the extremely hard topic of positive discrimination to discuss and I think this is the no 1 reason people are voting no or maybe better put the no 1 reason that people on the Internet are arguing why they are voting no. I have no problems with positive discrimination but I'm retired. I don't see that I'm discriminated against. When I was working I might have felt differently but I wonder if that is just me being a sook.

It's not skin pigmentation. That is a ridiculous comment. Do all Islanders get the same voice treatment ? What about immigrants from Sudan and India ?

That isn't actually my argument as well. It was a simple point about how the Indigenous people may end up incarcerated and it doesn't need to happen.

I would expect the voice to raise a bunch of issues like the one I raised that are detailed and actionable. I would expect then to implement changes to improve the closing of the gap outcomes. We can test this and see if it worked.

They can't want to retain their traditional way of life and at the same time complain about a gap in life expectancy, educational attainment/whatever. Can't have your cake and eat it too. It's impossible to close the gap when their averages get dragged down by poor outcomes for those in remote communities where first world outcomes can't be delivered.

You can do more than just throw your hands in the air though. We can change the way we assess the data. We could do different comparisons. I know this isn't closing the gap per se but maybe people want to live in regional communities and like the environment. We could see if it was working for them.

Something similar to this is actually being bought in by the Labour government. They are bringing in a balanced scorecard to judge how Australia is performing. We would be behind a lot of counties in implementing this approach.

I saw recently an Indigenous community who were using this awesome way to generate water and I think food (fish) from the environment. Maybe technology can help.

Maybe robots can do better They will not care about pigmentation. They be getting close - till they feel and understand emotions and love.

One blokes old tweets, who cares. Doesn't
make what I said wrong - it's a pipe dream.
Yes.
That bloke only signed the Uluṟu Statement and participated in the working group that designed the Voice.
But you know better don’t you? Where does this arrogance come from?
How do you feel about leading No campaigner
Warren Mundine saying he would consider vying
for a spot on the Voice should the referendum
succeed?
That sounds like a good compromise.
The more genuine participants, the better.
He also mentioned that defeat in the looming referendum would make treaties between governments and First Nations more likely, and called for a change to the date of Australia Day, a position that the official no case, in a pamphlet distributed to voters, warned against as a potential “radical” consequence of a yes vote.
He is allowed to have his opinion.
Unlike you guys and your hive mind, the rest of us think for ourselves.
He said this the other day while 10's of thousands of Australians turned out in
droves across the country for the yes rally. No voters are hiding in plain sight, it's hilarious
You talk about all this like you are supporting a sporting team.
You couldn’t care less about Aboriginal communities.
You are just desperate to be on the winning side.
It is ugly and pathetic.

Thomas Mayo
Lydia Thorpe
Megan Davis and Marcia Langton

These are a few of the activists driving the agenda that will not help the people that need it most.

This is a Money grab.

We are all Australian, last time I checked
My concern is at least 3 of them will campaign to be on the voice committee.
They do not have the best intentions for the country.
Good luck to any Governments that will have to work with them.

My blood pressure goes up everytime I see you've
quoted me in my notifications. Have a lie down pal

And yet you are prepared to throw around derogatory terms like 'cooker' and 'cooker behaviour' - whatever that is. And I've read many of your posts quoting figures as 'facts' without you acknowledging your sources.
Then he ignores when someone counters him with actual facts and sources and calls them "intellectually dishonest". I'd think he is trolling if I didnt know better.

I'd love to see a universal basic wage across the world. Can you imagine it ? Just say 10 grand to each person. Imagine the poor people in Libya or Africa and what that would do their quality of life.

I love the comment about emotions and love. Love is great. People get too riled up about stuff me included.

I think anger and hate and all those bad emotions screw you up.
