Richards a liability

If nothing else I hope our Poly boys can teach him the Maori sidestep, he's spent far too long at the Keith Galloway School of Tackle Breaks. Use your size big man!

Richards might be a bit slow on the turn and chase and a bit slow if he's found out in the defensive line , but his kicking game makes up for it IMO .

He's a lot less of a liability than some other players I could mention .

I still think that Hodgo was a better goal kicker than Patty .

Another season about to start…...and the knockers and whiners are off and running.
Seems nothing but total success will be the only thing satisfies most of the supposed supporters on here.
Let's forget about encouragement and focusing on the positives, and basically supporting our side through hard times.
With friends like this lot........etc etc

I can see your point but in my opinion Koro was significantly a better option than Richards and that was obvious when we played the Storm.

Maybe you can carry an old slow winger with a great kicking game if you have a firing backline. We haven't had that. Maybe this year will be different and we can afford to carry Richards. If I was the coach I wouldn't be risking my career on Richards though.

Now Koroibete was a liability on the end of our backline. He may have been made to look better in a defensively sound team like Storm but in our club he was the epitome of a liability.

Spot on LaT

…and whats the point of having a speedy agile winger if our backline isnt firing?

Contradicting yourself there Steve imo

Richards is not the problem. Look at the backline more closely and you will see whether the problem continues to exist.

I see the "I'm a better supporter than you" garbage has started even earlier this year, FFS.

Give it a rest.

therein lies the problem. sound defence was the liabilty not Koroibete.
Cause & effect. Koroibete was the effect - not the cause. Koroibete in fact was learning from people who were not sound in defence. I think he did a good job under those circumstances.

Richards is not a liability. Anyone who thinks differently has a very short memory. No way are we giving up a 90% kicker just because he is a bit slow.

Guys he is a winger ffs. If he can catch and put the ball down he will be fine. All he needs is a solid centre next to him and we won't have any trouble

I don't see the contradiction. A speedy winger helps the backline fire. A slow winger can be carried if the rest of the backline is firing.

Pat has years of experience, is a wonderful mentor to the young boys coming through, he's oneof the best kickers around and a very good solid winger. He's not the fastest and he is getting on in age, but boy oh boy he can win us those close games just with his kicking skills. So to say he is a liability ???? You have to be kidding! I feel we have a better chance of winning when Pat's in the team. Team him up with a decent centre and watch him shine even more.

His kicking is a main factor as why he is in the starting 11 and his experience is a boost

Good post. Richards virtually ensures that we get 6 points per try instead of 4\. Can kick a field goal better than anyone in the comp. He may have slowed a little, but he is experienced, strong, good under the high ball and barring injury will be a big asset this year.

This is a shameful thread, Pat Richards is a weapon,

We are all to fickle in our Support of this team and the club.

I hate Hot and Cold.

Wake up

Richards will be worth between 4 to 8 points a game at least and i'm sure at some stage this year people will jump up and down praising the bloke on how he kicked the goal from the sideline to win us the game .

I'm sure of that .

I am sure Manly don't ask these questions of Jamie Lyon (albeit he is a centre but not a winger). His qualities mirror Richard's and he also lacks pace….
