The family of iconic Kangaroos player Tommy Raudonikis have accepted an offer from the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) for a memorial service to be held in his honour.

The Memorial Service will be held between 11am and noon on Monday (April 19) at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys AM said the Memorial Service would be a fitting way to honour a legend of the game.

“Tommy was one of a kind. He was the people’s champion who reached the pinnacle of our game, it’s fitting the rugby league community will come together on Monday to pay tribute to one of the most popular players in the game’s history,’’ he said.

“We have worked with Tommy’s family to ensure a Memorial that fittingly celebrates a legend of our game.”

Members of the public are welcome to attend the Memorial. Entry will be via the Members Entrance, Gate A on Driver Avenue. Tickets are not required.

Members of the public are requested to arrive by 10.30am.

Im thinking of heading in for this on Monday, anyone else going?
Just wondering if Magpie type gear would be OK, or a more formal
usual gear for a memorial service?

Tommy would want people to wear their Maggies gear IMO. Formality wasn't his forte, he seemed to love it when people just were themselves without any pomp.

Tracky dacks a magpies jersey and a beanie if it’s cold

My dear old Uncle Kev wore a West’s Magpies sloppy Joe to my brothers wedding god rest his sole.

Add Wayne Pearce, Fittler. Wests Ashfield board was well represented. Lots of old boys.

There was a guy in a Raiders outfit with the full helmet and horns, go figure.

Videos from Roy Masters, Steve Mortimer, Ian Schubert , John Quayle and more.

Quayle’s story about him and others with Tommy doing the Kokoda Trail was touching. Basically they would set off, Tommy would fall a fair way behind the group and catch up at camp. On the last day they head off and Tommy falls behind as usual. As they get close to the finish the group stops and waits for Tommy knowing he wouldn’t give up. Tommy catches up sees them and tells them to keep going don’t wait for him. The group waited, and fell behind Tommy letting him lead the group to the finish. That’s the respect they all had for Tommy.

Ah OK. I thought he may have been mentioned as well, led me to believe he may not have attended.

I'm not sure how to respond. I admire and respect you for the quality of your comments on here but then you seem to tell me that you watch Nine News?

That's not sitting well with me.

As The Boss so eloquently wrote; "Lord, have mercy on a man who doubts what he's sure of"

Only because we knew they were there, we thought we would watch it in the off chance.
