Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

I'm with TT.
Initially, I would have liked to see some form of compromise so that Farah could play in the starting 17 next year. While that may still be an option (due to the negotiating powers of big business) I no longer hold that view.
Yes, perhaps this situation could have been handled better, but the fact remains Farah has been identified as surplus to WT requirements, full stop. Time to move on. Paul Vautin gave Farah that advice on live TV and good on him. Farah needed to hear that.
The inferential evidence around Farah from IE Sheens/Potter, combined with the petulance of this effort tells me that he could be a destabilising influence if he remains anywhere around the main playing group. From my perspective, I would rather see our young talent have the opportunity to develop, win or lose, without his influence.
I agree with posts above that say fans have the right to publicly display their affection for Farah. What baffles me is the small mindedness behind the ongoing idolatry. “No Robbie, no members”. Excuse me?
Even in their own banners they are effectively undermining the rest of Wests Tigers team. They have bought into the 'We Wuv Wobbie' spin to the point that they are equating him with Wests Tigers. In essence they are saying Robbie Farah is Wests Tigers, none of the other players matter. No Robbie, we walk, we don't care about the rest of the team. How petty is that? Isn't that part of why he is being moved on?
He's overshadowing the rest of an exciting young playing squad.
So, for all those well meaning Farah supporters you do not represent me at all! You are welcome to walk!
I support Wests Tigers.
Wests Tigers is more than just Robbie Farah.

There is no selection process in becoming a fan of a club, and each fans connection to a club is different. Their is a reason that fans are supporting Farah - he has earned that support through years of service. Until the outcome is resolved one way or another (as fans we are still in the dark as to what is happening) every Wests Tigers fan has the right to express their thoughts, support or frustration with this situation. And while some might see it as futile, the fact is opinion is divided on the sacking of Farah and probably always will be.

I'm with the protesters … Good on you for showing your spirit and your point of view. It won't achieve anything but I admire your spirit and will to speak up. If nothing else to show the club how poorly this has been handled and it does hurt, divide and affect the people who love and support the club. Sure there might only have been 20 or so there today... But I believe there are many times that number who feel the same way including me.
Good on you people .... Well done.

You're right Knuckles. There were thousands showing their support for Robbie at the Warriors game. And there's so many more. He has massive support. When he leaves he will be dearly missed by many. Like it or not.

If people really cared that much, then there would have been more than 30 at NRL HQ yesterday.

You could say that the support at the Warriors game was support out of convenience.

Small crowds, what do you expect? It was held on a working day. I call it bad planning. A lot of people didn't even know it was going to be on.

I was at the Warriors game. I saw and felt the support for Robbie. It was massive. Very vocal, emotional and heartfelt. Dozens of banners everywhere. I disagree about the convenience bit. People came to show support.

Yeah fair enough TM, I don't doubt that people went to support him, but they were going to watch a footy game as well, plenty of those people are members who were likely going to the game anyway. If the protest were held on a weekend they may have got a few hundred people or so, but it's hardly reflective of the entire supporter base.

I still think that if things change for the better, it won't be long before we're all saying "Robbie Who?"

Exactly right Knuckles.
There seems to be a line of thought here at times, that we have a some sort of monopoly on opinions about the club, or at least a belief that we know more than the supporters that are not part of the forum. The numbers here are only a part of the total number of supporters that the club has.
They are all entitled to their opinions, and that opinion is of no lesser value than any on here. The biggest display of supporter opinion was the Warriors game where I believe they well and truly showed the club how they felt . There was no question of where the vast majority stood on the issue
Maybe it was easier to show their disgust at the game , as they were going anyway, but that didn't make most of that crowd , voice their opinion very forcefully to the club.
Probably the supporters who organised the protest on Tuesday , made a mistake by not doing something on a weekend when more would probably go, but they had the right to do it whenever, and wherever they wanted to.
As for those who are still baking Farah for saying that he will stay and play reserve grade if he has to, he has a contract to play here for two more years, and if the club wants to play him in reserve grade, then that's up to them. No one forced the club to sign such a long contract.
It might surprise some of the Anti Farah brigade ,( especially here) that no matter what we think, we will have no influence at all as to what happens next year.
I hope Farah does stay, as we don't have anyone one that can replace him adequately. And if the club are stupid enough to play him in reserve grade . Well that just points out even more plainly how badly we are still being run., both at Board and Coaching level.

CB we all want this relationship between Robbie and the Club to end amicably and soon. I hope (not holding my breath though) we the supporters, get some straight and honest answers from the club, of why it's come to this.
Glad this season is over and we can hopefully look forward to a new beginning in 2016! :sign:

That I can agree with.

So everybody on here bagging these people think that because their opinion is different it is worth more?
If they are up in arms about it enough to protest good luck to them.
If you don't agree, fair enough - no need to insult them.
You've more than likely been sitting near them at some stage and cheering on the team in unison.
Oh, sorry - maybe they were in the cheap seats.

Spot on we live in a democratic society and people have a right to an opinion. Yes might not be the same as yours but no need to insult them.
Again don't agree what they did/doing to Robbie.

For all of those standing behind freedom of speech, need I remind you the barrage of abuse the fanatics have copped on here for exercising their right of freedom of speech over the yrs. whether through organising rallies or waving flags at games. Fairs fair guys. Ftr, I have no issue with a rally, but I do question these people. Not because I disagree with them, but because of the shoddily way it's been organised, through to their ridiculous catchphrases ("Robbie Farah in Jason Taylor bin" really?). And lastly because they think they are making a difference. I don't think it's a case of they know it's a lost cause. They honestly believe that rallies of 30 people will get the clubs attention and scare them into back flipping. And I'd feel the same even if I supported Farah.

FTR I don't recall bagging them at all (I'm sure others have though,) I said that if people were really serious about giving the club the what for over Farah getting turfed they would have got a larger turnout.

They want to go and protest, that's their prerogative, I don't support their position but I support their passion and conviction. Conversely, I don't see why voicing a belief that 30 people turning up to NRL HQ is a futile action is howled down either. If it were 30,000 people, the club might listen.

One thing I do know, I will be interested to see the results on field next year and how those people who are threatening to not renew next year respond. A lot of opinions will be subject to change based on our successes on the pitch.

I wonder how many would not be choosing Robbie over the club, had a Hasler, Bellamy or Bennett made the decision instead of Taylor.

Take out the second sentence/paragraph and I am with you. I support the players as they come and go, some more than others, but my loyalty lays with the club

Yes some straight and honest answers from Farah would also be good as to why the club wants to cut him away and the reasons why he knows the real reasons.

I want to start a rumour, Farah to star in a Broadway musical "The Wizard of OZ" with Sheensie playing the Tin Man, Potter playing the Cowardly Lion and JT playing the Scarecrow.
