Quick to put the boot in. This team was poor when Taylor turned up, full of players he inherited.

I for one, accept the salary cap situation as it is portrayed. If for no other reason than history- every team Tim Sheens has left has been left in turmoil until there was a clean out of his old playing staff. Poorly dispersed money, players with poor work ethics… Canberra, Cowboys & Tigers- all left in poor shape.

Not saying Sheens didn't do wonders while he was here, but his systems only seem to work... for him... for a while. Warren Ryan was the same- once he left clubs, they needed a revamp.

This team needs one, the same way Sheens put the broom through when he came in.

Who knows what kind of coach JT is? His previous record suggests he's better than you lot give him credit for.

Remember that time the Tigers cast off a bunch of high priced veteran players that didn't play up to their contract numbers & replaced them with misfits from other clubs & a bunch of juniors from the lower grades?

That kind of worked out ok…

Oh sure, I remember. And that's as far as the similarities go. In 04 we also had a coach who was a master tactician and had great communication and people management skills. Things Taylor doesn't have!

You beat me to it  , massive difference one actually knew what he was doing

I think he wad talking about Fifita Ryan gibbs etc. I was being sarcastic.

I was referring to what's in Red and so was he .

If he was such a good Coach ? why wasn't he ever picked up by any other NRL Club after his last year at the Bunnies in "09" ? He's been 5 years with no Coaching gig in the NRL , until we got him .
I don't think we broke the Bank to get him , i'll take a guess and say he was a cheap option for us .

Nothing from what has occurred this year suggest to me that he has what it takes , i'll be more than happy to be proven otherwise .

He was the Roosters Toyota Cup coach 2011 & 2012 before becoming assistant coach at the Roosters 2013 & 2014\. Not like he was out of a job long. Only so many 1st grade gigs going about. That Roosters Toyota Cup teams both made the Semi's. His initial gig at Parra- 16 games for 10 wins, and he took Souths to the Playoffs in his 1st year there.

Wait- we should go get the Walker boys to replace him. Their record is far superior…

 , i knew he was in Toyota Cup at the Roosters cause he has to get what he can , don't he has any Qualifications in the outside World. He obviously wasn't wanted by anyone for 1st Grade .

When Wayne Bennett moved to the Broncos…..the Knights Job was available
When Steve Price got sacked from the Dragons.....the Dragons job was available
When Ricky Stuart went to the Raiders .......the Parra job was available
When Mathew Elliot got sacked from the Warriors.......Warriors job was available ( McFadden got it last year )

There is a few gigs there he could of got if he was so highly rated as a 1st Grade Coach . He was nothing but the cheapest Option for us IMO.

Honestly he shouldn't be judged on his past but how he is going with us. I hope next season he starts to improve the ball is in his court to come up with a good game plan with this squad what we really need is a good man manager i'm not sure Taylor is that but we will find out. Hope he surprises me and proves me wrong.

And I'll just ask- what happened with coaching 'favourites' like Sheens, Kevin Walters, Nathan Brown, Stephen Kearney, Daniel Anderson, Matt Parrish… was anyone else linked with the Tigers in the last 4 years? Many were clamouring for these superstars- outside of Brown getting the Knights gig for next year & Sheens coaching in the UK, we are talking about a bunch of unemployed guys or assistant coaches- pretty much what JT has been for 4 years. Like Maguire was before going to Souths. like Robinson was before being the Roosters coach. Like McGregor was before the Saints job. Where is the shame in being an assistant coach??

Just because Taylor didn't get one of the available gigs doesn't make him a worse coach than some of the guys hired.

How many did he apply for?

How many gigs went to coaches within the current team ranks? How many went with 'name' coaches?
\
\
Or here's one for you- how many of the coaches selected above him for those teams went on to make the playoffs since being hired?

He's gotten 2 NRL sides to the finals. 1 of which hadn't made the finals in nearly 20 yrs, the other had a resurgence after Brian Smith left them languishing at the bottom of the table. Is he Wayne Bennett? Not by a mile, but he's not Arthur Kitinus either. I'm not defending him for this yr, but he has the runs on the board at NRL and NYC level to show he's competent enough. If he takes the leash off this team there's no reason why they can't improve next yr.

Did he apply for any of those positions? I don't remember his name being linked to any of them.

Both Farah and Taylor should be shown the door ..

Taylor for his incompetence ..
Farah for his insobordination..

Chadman I think you make valid points which is hard to argue against.
All I'm saying is i have my doubts as to whether he was ever asked by any Clubs to put in his application for any of the NRL vacancy Coaching jobs.
Anyway we will know in time.

Him and 50 other coaches. Its not a very strong argument to say he's incompetent because clubs didn't seek him out. People still to this day say Folkes should be our coach, but i'm sure he wouldn't have been approached for any of those jobs either. I'm sure coaching is just any other profession. There's a right time and not a right time to go for different jobs. Maybe the time to apply for this job was the right time after 6 yrs to get back in the saddle.

Why the hell do we have to know who he applied for or who approached him in the past?

Talk about a waste of time and pointless excercise

The problem that I have with Taylor is that he was terrible this year and I think we underachieved. He needs to change that around.

I honestly don't even think our squad is that bad. Richards was the weak link in the backline along with depth and hopefully we will fix those areas next year.

I think our forwards may need some help next year as Galloway is gone but basically I think our team is okay. JT has enough to work with if he tries and plays positive footy.

When it comes to who applied for what I don't care. I just expect the coach to pick the right team, put a decent game plan together and to act with some class. The rest is up to the players.

Everyone talks up the talent of these kids, so if they're allowed to play their natural games, what's the problem?
