Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Taken from Article by Steven Zemek 24/9/2015

Pascoe's comments are at odds with the stance of coach Jason Taylor who when asked in August if there was any chance that Farah could remain, said it was best if he moved on.
Farah was told he was free to negotiate with rival clubs and that he if he wished to remain, he would spend the 2016 season in reserve grade.
"My feelings are that we need a fresh start and Robbie needs a fresh start," Taylor said at the time.
"We'd love nothing more than to see Robbie play for an opposition club next year and play really, really well."
The decision to ask Farah to leave has been a public relations disaster for the Tigers.

If MR Pascoe can bring everyone together and unite the club then he has done a good job. He is going the right way about it so far.

Jeff Toovey in , Taylor out
Robbie plays for us in 2016 sharing with Mania then moves on to another club in Sydney or UK
Toovey has a fair record and after the way he was treated , he would be looking to get some results from a team like ours who are struggling
Is he a better coach than Taylor , I think so , does his players look like they play for him , I think so
Problem solved

"We'd love nothing more than to see Robbie play for an opposition club next year and play really, really well."

Am I the only one that cringes when I read that quote from JT ?

I am sure after 3 days he now knows who runs the club … Just hope he is not late for Farahs pickup at the airport, I am sure he will have plenty of bags to carry.

Not sure where people are getting the idea that Taylor's position is untenable based off of what Pascoe said. He basically just reiterated the clubs position that Farah is free to leave if he finds another club.

Exactly. He is stepping in to force a deal…...cause that is what CEO's do.

Nup

The WT's walked up to that line in the sand a month ago and just took a step backwards yesterday

Remind me who runs this club again , the players and some rogue fans threatening not to renew memberships ??

I don't see it that way happy. I think the Robbie supporters are clutching at straws.

For a start, CEOs don't overrule or dictate to Boards. CEOs implement Board decisions (decisions into which the CEO usually has some input).

The CEOs statement changes absolutely nothing. He is simply reiterating the current position. The media has chosen to put a different interpretation on it; an interpretation that is completely unjustified.

We always knew that the WT would honour Robbie's contract. We always knew that the WT can't force Robbie out. If Robbie chooses to stay, then he will be with the WT next year. We have known that since the beginning.

So Pascoe's statement changes nothing.

If Robbie stays and he plays first grade, then I think JT's position would become untenable, and I wouldn't be surprised if, under those circumstances, he resigned. Then we would be back to the bad old days you refer to.

The most non intelligent quote ever made by anyone trying to move on a player.
Unfortunately some just don't have much upstairs.

Its the way it has been handled that is poor. We need to move Robbie on but we could have played him until the end of his contract and we may have to anyway.

The same article has been posted in this thread. If you read Pascoe's comments, they are not at odds with the stance of JT at all.

I hate these comments. Where is the proof that Robbie runs the club ? Robbie was signed to a longer contract than what he should have been. Its not Robbie's fault although I'm sure he and his manager pushed for it.

Robbie isn't going to get paid elsewhere what we are paying him simply because we are paying overs. I'm worried who else we are paying overs too.

You don't have to like that quote, but there are other words you could have used.

Geoff Toovey inherited one of the best teams in the comp, he didn't make the finals this season. I don't think he is as great as people think he is but anything is better than Taylor and Kimmorley.

That article right there proves every single thing that is wrong with how the media have taken this.

The ONLY direct quote that people can pin on JT is " My feelings are that we need a fresh start & Robbie needs a fresh start- we'd love nothing more than to see Robbie play for an opposition club next year & play really, really well"

However- the article pins "he would spend the 2016 season in reserve grade" & that his stance & Pascoe's are at odds- when clearly Pascoe really only restates the clubs stance on it all.

The only people/person that is making 'reserve grade' comments, or 'disrepectful', 'shame' & 'embarrass' type claims are Robbie & Ayoub.

I agree. Everyone talks about JT's man management skills, but Toovey's aren't much better by all reports. Had both the board and players offside. He's becoming the new Steve Folkes on the forum.

And here is the relevant article from the SMH. Interestingly, do we have a direct quote from Taylor or Reddy denying this was said?

And what, exactly, does that article prove? Not only do we not have a quote 'denying' anything was said by Taylor & Reddy (Really? They have to go to the media to deny something to make it true??), they actually have no quote from Taylor or Reddy AT ALL.

They have a few comments from Farah, and of course the obligitory Ayoub interjection.

That is it.

Hardly a defining piece of evidence damning Taylor & Reddy.

If there was a quote, somewhere out there in cyberspace, from JT, Reddy or the ballboy for all I care, where someone said "We think Robbie is over priced & not playing any good, we hate him & he hates the playing group & is constantly trying to get coaches fired"- if there was anything even REMOTELY close to that, then yeah- we could say Taylor etc were unprofessional. But there isn't one of those quotes out there.

Because the Wests Tigers & it's coaching staff have not gone out & made inane comments about it.

They made a statement saying Farah is free to negotiate elsewhere, and when asked why, Taylor said because he thinks both the team & Robbie need a fresh start.

Oh the scandal! What a bad man manager!!

Can we get this ^^^^^^^^^ or something similar pinned to the top of every page from now on to remind all on here of the known facts.

If in fact Ayoub has documented what was said in the meetings Taylor and Reddy are not going to deny anything, or it quite possibly become even more embarrassing. So interpret and speculate about that as you will . It seems that we can all speculate and interpret anything to support our view on this saga depending on which side of the fence we sit on. Farah will be back next week and all will be sorted - until then continue with the speculating but it is very clear that most have made up our minds about what we believe in regard to Farah/Taylor situation and no amount of discussion is going to change that.
