Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

JT's ego in this has been so overblown. Yes it was his decision, but he's the coach, its what he's paid to do. If anyone can quote him in the media since this thing blew up that proves he has an ego, i'll happily retract what i have said.

I am sure after 3 days he now knows who runs the club … Just hope he is not late for Farahs pickup at the airport, I am sure he will have plenty of bags to carry.

I hate these comments. Where is the proof that Robbie runs the club ? Robbie was signed to a longer contract than what he should have been. Its not Robbie's fault although I'm sure he and his manager pushed for it.

Robbie isn't going to get paid elsewhere what we are paying him simply because we are paying overs. I'm worried who else we are paying overs too.

It's a perception people have that Farah has kicked out every Coach we have had , hence why people think he runs the Club.
I agree he was signed for 2 years to long and our lesson should have been learned from when we signed Lawrence on his current 5 year deal .

Certainly Farah is well and truly past his best but like you say Steve hardly his fault for having the best Agent in the game Ayoub and getting that deal for his Client….love him or hate him but i've been told from a former player that he used to be Managed by Ayoub and his Opinion of Ayoub is very high in terms of getting the best deal for his Client .
Some will question how he's handled certain things......but at the end of the Day his Sole focus is on his Client and getting the best deal for his Players and that is what his paid to do .

It says more about our Club on how we have handled certain situations in the past couple of years with a number of Contracts never honoured .

I think Pascoe realizes how important it is in demonstrating that Contracts will be honoured from this point forward , so players that might be chased by our Club in the next couple of years can feel that Contracts will be honoured if not players won't bother unless we pay them massive overs.

Great post FT. Agree 100%!

Watching it now and it reminds me of how WT throughout 2005 had a young, happy team all willing to work together in the same direction. If only the club can come close to a semblance of that in 2016\. There is always hope.

Again and look what we got from winning that premiership

A false believe that attacking football is all the rage and as long as you can outscore the opposition everything will be alright

Even when Sheens tried to coach this side to grind they wouldn't , even when we bought a side to win off their defence they ignored it

And then we paid the price

I honestly just can't believe how wrong we have got all this ,despite every warning from every person with some league common sense

Actually, if you can out score the opposition, I've never seen the time where it wasn't alright

Yes but as we saw again and again in 10 years since it doesn't work eventually you have a bad in attack and then you have to defend the limited points you scored

Plus we finally won a premiership because of our defence , not our attack

It also doesn't work when you think you are better than you are, and it was absolutely the problem in that final against the Warriors.

Instead of respecting the hard work that had been done by the team, and when the stakes were at their highest, Farah wanted to put his exclamation mark on it instead of taking a boring safe option that likely seals the deal.

And in any case, thinking that you can always win by attack is taking the easy, even lazy option.

There are just times when you can't beat working hard and doing the dirty work, just that this 'attacking culture' that has led us down this garden path doesn't want to believe it.

I think that this talk like we never defended is a load of palava. Just because your attack is good it doesn't mean you have no defence.

I also think Farah's biggest problem has always been taking the wrong option at critical times. He has probably done that as well because he doesn't trust some of the players around him.

Consistently we are beaten in the ruck time and again.
Been that way pretty much for sixteen years

There was never going to be legal action.

Probably wasn't, but thanks for confirming that for me.

Probably wasn't? You and Bobo were convinced a few weeks back that it was a formality. Better late than never in realizing it though,

GNR, you must have a great memory. I can't remember what i posted a day before, let alone what someone else posted a few weeks ago…. Wish i had your memory.

Backed himself to score a try in that game and did so effectively - six points. Just thought I would put some balance back into the discussion for those who choose to forget contributions he has also made.

Benji advises Farah to leave Tigers

Former premiership-winning teammate Benji Marshall has told embattled captain Robbie Farah it's probably best he moves on from the Wests Tigers.
>
Despite new Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe this week saying the club intends honouring the final year of Farah's $900,000-a-season contract, Marshall believes the 13-year stalwart is better off walking away.
>
**Marshall was forced out of the Tigers in 2013** but, after an unsuccessful short in Super Rugby with the Blues last year, the New Zealand international has thrived again in the NRL this season at St George Illawarra.
>
Marshall believes Tigers coach Jason Taylor's ultimatum to Farah that he'd play reserve grade next year if he remained at the joint venture outfit has left the star hooker with little option.
>
"From my experience, I don't think you realise how good change can be sometimes," Marshall told NRL 360 on FoxSports.
>
"Obviously there's drama between himself and the coach. It's never going to be the same. There's no way they could work together again.
>
"So my advice to him was: 'I think you're probably due for a change for yourself, not only that but for the Wests Tigers as well."
>
Cronulla hooker Michael Ennis, who has proven a revelation for the Sharks this season following his move from Canterbury at the end of last year, also urged Farah to make a change.
>
Ennis says under Taylor, Farah can no longer be the "attacking weapon out of dummy-half that he'd been" for the Tigers.
>
"I would suggest that if Robbie Farah can go somewhere else, he'll still always be a Wests Tigers legend but he will enjoy the back-end of his career and get to play the style of football that made him who he is rather than dig his heels in," Ennis said.
>
Marshall, 30, and Ennis, 31, finished equal fourth in the Dally M count this season and both agree 31-year-old Farah would benefit from a similar late-career move rather than trying to remain a one-club man.
>
"When his career his done in three or four years," Ennis said.
>
"Wherever it may be, if he does make that move, he'll look back and go: 'Those memories from the Tigers, I'm always still a part of it, but geez I enjoyed the back-end of my career, being able to play the footy that I did.'"
>
Marshall admitted the 238-game Tigers great's biggest problem may be finding a new club at this late stage, but suspected South Sydney and Newcastle may be options.

IIRC Benji wasn't forced to leave, he left on his own to chase his rugby dream.

Benji and Robbie's situations are very different. We should have handled Robbie the same way Benji was handled. Offer him a contract based on how well he is playing for us now. It will be less than what Robbie expects and then he will leave.
