Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

I am all about winning games.

Thats why ultimately I am happy Farah is staying. i think with him as our 9 we have a better chance of winning. Even if that is simply a better chance of missing the spoon. I also think it does give morale a boost in a young squad. We need some experience and some quality.

Now the heat is on Taylor and Farah to make it work. Taylor was right in a way, there is now ay Farah was worth 900 K the job he was doing last year. Farah needs to take responsibility for his own from which was poor. However Taylor needs to use the skills Robbie still has which made him at times the best number 9 in the game.

Now he might be a yard or two slower but please if anyone can convince me the best job for him is to simply catch and pass and tackle ill give it away. Taylor needs to find a way to get the 900K value. Thats what a good coach would do. Im sure Robbie is up for it but will Taylor budge?

Make up ya mind Eddie

You say that you want Taylor to find a way of getting 900 k value from Farah and he was by trying to get Farah to go

Something still has to give , this won't work

Is there still one offer left on the table perhaps ?????????

Eddie is right, we are a better team with Farah in the side. Especially if he is permitted to play his natural game - to kick and run occasionally, as he identifies the best option. Last season he played like he had one hand tied behind his back, while people criticized him for not getting involved enough.

The thing Robbie has lost in all this conflict, is the captaincy. We probably would have seen a gradual passing of the leadership to Woodsy over time, maybe even one of those dreaded 'leadership groups' used by some teams. I wonder who will captain when Woods takes a rest?

And I wish people would stop saying Robbie is on 900k, it's more like 750, when you take out the money owed to him by the club. Hallelujah, Robbie's back!

Taylor thought he'd get his way, Farah thought he'd get his.

They've both gone the power play and it's only served to shine the spotlight on them both far more intensely. If Farah has an off year and JT doesn't get results, it would well be curtains for them both.

IMO, both of them going would be the best result.

Don't agree with you this time CB. Taylor has put his career on the line and do what is in the best interest of the clubs future. He has shown determination and we need that right now. He deserves to stay.

JT went for the big play. Succeed and his position is assured. Fail and his NRL coaching career is finished. A high stakes strategy which has put the club's brand to the sword. We're waiting for the next instalment but either way the relationship between Farah and Taylor is untenable. One will go and its become clearer now who that is as the new CEO much to his credit has taken control.

What forced Pascoe's hand was this thread reaching 300 pages with the threat of 1,000 pages - too much for him to bear. His missus was sick of him staying up all night keeping tab on what's going on here. She wanted some action.

Unfortunately it doesn't show up at 750 on the cap though Cobbs, it's 900K.

What I am saying is clear.

The way he was used last year was to simply catch and pass.

Taylor needs to use Farah's qualities better.

The club looks like they decided paying him 700K plus to play against us was not a great plan and i would agree.

while I agree with you Eddie, Farahs game was simplified, catch and pass as you mention, he didnt even perform that at a high level… his service was terribly slow.

If he is back now, I dont really care what is asked of him... though no matter the role he is asked to do, he has to do it at a high standard. The extra time the quicker service of Cherrington gave Brooks and Moses made them look alot better, and at the very least we should expect the same from Robbie.

To be regarded in the top hookers in the game, and not just a tackling machine, he has to perform the hooking job well.

Farah was bog ordinary since Origin last year - Prior to that was the best I had seen him play in 3 years!! Unfortunately, It didn't last very long.

I have a feeling now he knows his spot, His Club status and pride is surely on the line, We will see a bit more from Farah and a bit less blaming the coach for apparently "tying his hands up"

- Funny how short peoples memories are - The way Taylor has been blamed for Robbie's poor form (Which has been from 2011), You'd thing Farah was the 2014 Dally M winner….

Obviously Farah's hands were tied.

If u cant see that then….

I dont think anyone is debating Farahs hands were tied, that he was asked to scale back his influence on the games.

Just that you would think he would be able to do his lesser duties well… His service was for the most part poor. When he chose to kick into gear, say the Warriors game, he put in at a different level. That is disappointing.

Lets hope we will see a better Robbie because of all these dramas. He, like all players isnt payed to have an opinion, nor when to choose how much effort to put in. All players are payed to perform.

They asked Benny the wrong questions.

Forget about what happens if Taylor drops Farah and Tigers don't win; ask the reverse: what happens if they win without Farah, or lose with him? Then what does JT do.

I guarantee that if we have a losing start with Robbie playing firsts next year, there will be a long line of Farah apologists saying that he is "being hamstrung" or "should be allowed to play his natural game".

I'll tell you who was allowed to play their natural game: Lockyer, Johns, Tallis. Webcke, Ellis. These guys were excellent every week, so over-coaching would be like telling Federer which shots he should select.

Every other player I've seen, needs to be reigned in to some extent; it's a team game. Even Thurston cannot just play however he chooses, because he's always had the issue of not quite having a stable or directing half option alongside him, flicking back and forth between half and 5/8th. First season that he has a halves partner who is consistently dangerous and at his peak, they win the comp.

I agree with this. He hasn't been in top form for a while. He has lost some pace and his service was never the best part of his game.

Still I think he is still a quality player. He can set-up a try or a bust as good as any dummy half in the game. Lets hope he gets back to top form over the next 2 years.

i would like to see Farah and Taylor on the same page to kick the season off.
winning could fix a lot of the crap.
losing however…. i mean is everyone ready for another 300 pages ?

i forgot the disclaimer.
"no animals were hurt or even party eaten in this story"

Love it guys. There's been so much Agro on here since this thread started. It's good to have a bit of humour. It's been lacking in this thread for a while now.

hahhaha
through all this back and forth, sometimes it feels like people are so strung up on proving they are right they forget to take a moment out and have a laugh.
