At least with Toddy we'd have a happy club ....unlike the disaster that's unfolding before us.

Happy what makes you think that with Payten at the Helm…?

He coached a number of them already when they won the youth competition …. Didn't hear any complaints back then.

The way i see it..

The whole forum and overwhelming majority of supporters at games have been criticising Jason Taylor and his coaching (or lack there of) all season.

I was at the Tigers game at Leichardt against the Titans where all the fans were turning to JT and the coaching box and giving it to him for his faliures.

So when our club legend and captain stands up for what the majority of us are saying and trys to give his opinion why are we so against him when it reflects what we are all saying ?

We can't express our views to JT directly, Robbie can and should !

JT has been feeding us spin all season and as soon as a player stands up for what the majority believe he attempts to have him sacked.

That doesn't sit well with me at all..

A lot of assumptions there Tony.

The only indisputable fact is that no-one hear knows the full facts.

Benji Marshall says the Wests Tigers' decision to axe Robbie Farah is due to his abrasive personality and not the club's precarious salary cap position.

Farah has been given permission to negotiate with other NRL clubs by coach Jason Taylor despite having two years left to run on his deal.

Taylor last week said Farah had been let go in an effort to shore up the club's long term future.

Farah is on a deal worth a reported $950,000 and Taylor said holding onto the New South Wales number nine would stifle their recruitment and they needed to make room in the salary cap.

However former Tigers playmaker Marshall says he believes the stoush comes down to a personality clash between Farah and Taylor.

"He's a very bad loser and a very emotional person when it comes to defeat," Marshall said on NRL 360 on Fox Sports.

"After games I think he lets it get the better of him sometimes … They talk about salary cap being the reason why but in my opinion it's got nothing to do with it.

"It's more about the personal battle between him and JT."

Marshall - who played alongside Farah in the joint ventures' 2005 premiership team before parting ways with the club in 2013 - said Farah was "not everybody's cup of tea" and sometimes difficult to get along with because of his outspoken nature.

Marshall defended Farah however, saying he was only forthright because he loved the club and had given his all for it.

Farah's history of coach clashes
Farah fell out with former Tigers coaches Tim Sheens and Mick Potter before their departures.

Marshall also revealed both he and Farah took pay cuts at the Tigers' request in 2012 after the club realised it was set to breach the salary cap.

Marshall sliced $80,000 off his salary while Farah agreed to a $200,000 reduction.

They did it on the provision that those amounts would be added onto their salaries in their final years at the club.

Marshall said Farah deserved to be treated better and expected him to dig his heels in and fight for his spot next season.

"We both (took pay cuts). In 2012 the club came to us and said they were going to be X amount over the cap," Marshall said.

"In 2012 I think I took an $80,000 pay cut and Robbie took a $200,000 pay cut for two years in a row.

"When I agreed to a five-year deal after that year, that was going to be back-ended and added onto my contract. The same thing happened with Robbie.

"Everyone looks at (Farah's) price tag and sees $950,000 and says `well he's not worth 950'. Well it's really 750 and the 200 he took off three or four years ago to keep the club afloat.

"That's how much the club means to the bloke and that's how much it meant to me. We were willing to give up our money to keep the club under the cap."

I find it hilarious that recent reports claim JT wants to sack Robbie because of the way he deals with losses. He hates losing and is filthy after a loss.

Apparently that isn't acceptable at a club such as the Wests Tigers.

JT probably wants to replace him with someone who can fit in with the new, current philosophy of the club - Wins don't matter as long as we continue to learn. Losses are more then acceptable and players shouldn't be upset and angry at continually losing football matches.

What a joke..

Well that rules out ever getting Bellamy, Hasler, Toovey, and Maguire as coaches.

As I understand it, it's not about how much he hates losing, but the manner in which he deals with losses and the impact on his teammates.

There needs to be a constructive response to losses.

To say he hates losing is fine, but my kid hates getting her nappy changed - doesn't mean her tantrums are the right response to the situation.

Johnathon Thurston, is the same when his team losses. Don't see Green trying to get rid of him because of it… 😕

Geezer… merging threads is so sloppy....just lock others and keep one going... At least we can then find things

What are you looking for..?

Never mind… It's OK.

Payten.... Unbelievable.... Done less in NRL than Taylor had. I hear Bryce has some time on his hands too... Maybe Liam and Taniela could also lend a hand.

It seems some here are conditioned to average and mediocre

Robbie's mate… Should work a treat.....

.... for Robbie

The truth always comes out in these matters Farah is a difficult cat to deal with and Taylor has no man management skills. We are in dire straits as a club and I suspect the NRL are intentionally trying to kill the club.

Thurston plays well every week. Not once every three years.

Relocation may be the answer. Farah doesn't want to leave sydney.

Benji Marshall on NRL 360 tonight:

In 2012 both he and Robbie took $80,000 and $200,000 pay cuts respectively to keep the squad under the salary cap with the $400,000 outstanding to be paid to Robbie in 2016-17 in this current contract.

So in reality Robbie isn't on $900,000 a year but $700,000 a year for the next 2 years with the outstanding balance being what he is owed for past services (When he was killing it in the Sheen's days).

Benji's thoughts on Robbie as a person:

- Extremely passionate about everything he does - The Tigers
- As a result he isn't everybody's cup of tea
- Handles losses extremely hard
- Was the only person to put other players in line when they stuffed up whilst Benji was at the club up until 2013
- If he doesn't think something is being done in the best interests of the Tigers he doesn't take a backseat and lets his opinion be known

He also thinks that this whole situation is JT wanting to show who's boss by removing the only person with the balls to stand up him when he thinks things are being done wrong.

To be honest I'm a big fan of Robbie but considering what Benji has just shared on NRL360 it's no surprise JT wants to remove Robbie from the club. The only thing that makes it hard to cop is how much he has given to this club including the aforementioned pay cuts he took.

Such a difficult situation for the club and at the end of the day there will be no winner.

This is no surprise. Robbie bleeds WT and has always put the club first. It seems he's getting "Punished" for speaking his mind and not liking failure. Go figure.

Farah isnt perfect Tony, he needed to be pulled into line.

From what ive been told though he has changed his ways a little this year.Benji wouldnt be aware of this.

Unfortunately being the big personality at the club he is the young players seek him out when they have issues. This whole thing started because the young players kept going to Farah with their concerns on the coaching. Farah re-assured them for most of the season until recently he approached Taylor with the teams concerns.

Taylor wants Farah gone for no other reason than to eliminate the young players going to him. He doesnt like the way they look up to him as it kind of diminishes his role and influence on the playing squad.

This is just what ive been told, no more no less. Make of it what you will, see if sounds like truth.

Interesting, so no coach is going to have an easy time of it then with Robbie there by the sounds. How many other coaches would put up with that?

The top coaches in Hasler / Bennett etc wouldn't need to put up with a rebelling Farah cause they know what they're doing .
Taylor doesn't .

Exactly JT just isn't management material, big bad scary Farah we sound like some teenage girls at a pijama party.. Oo I don't like that robbie, he's not my friend he upsets me.. so dramatic, so weak, so fragile.. Man up a little. Look Des, all class, all style and all cahunas.. For Christ sakes he has the lunatic graham in his team.. But mum we have robbie.. So so scary I need a hug

:roll

Been having a think about this….

This is just a whole sorry saga. Unless there is some miracle back down and compromise we are now at the point where one of them needs to hit the road - Taylor or Farah. The compromise I would propose is Farah steps down as captain in 2016, and stops down from Origin in 2017, thus giving the club a fresh leader and more value for money.

My gut feeling is that Taylor is a dud and has little respect within the dressing room and on the outside.
I understand people saying that we need to stop backing players and get behind the coach but i just go with my gut instincts on this one. I supported Potter in last years saga and wanted the board to back him, because I believed in his character. I don't believe in Taylor's character.

Wow just Wow….Todd Payten...the Club wants to move forward...

Irrespective if you are in the Taylor camp the Farah camp ....if the board suddenly backflip on their decision it will be a bigger mistake than making it in the first place....How people can really believe we are better off letting player power control the direction the Club takes is beyond me.... we are truly doomed...

What half decent Coach in their right mind would come within cooee of the place...Oh another boys club man...awesome...

C'mon Geo , for all Farah's faults wouldn't you rather have him their with the full team behind him than have a scarecrow standing in the middle of a training paddock calling his mum saying " no ones listening to me mum "

someone mentioned we have to pick the lesser of the two evils but with the new 'breach notice' crap unravelling- WT might be able to get rid of both robbie and JT. win win!
