Looks like we are doing a Panthers. Getting rid of all our best players and starting again. I understand why they are doing this but it really pisses me off.

What the hell is the plan for next year? Who is going to captain our club and who is going to play 9? We are constantly shedding our best players and signing nobody.

Our previous management have completely ruined this club.

If we get rid of some of these over paid players, we might be able to sign some top line players.

And how much of his salary will we be paying for the next two years when he plays for another club and most likely against us! We have no say as members but we can choose whether to be a member or not!

Yeah, sad, but its probaly best for Robbie to move on,he will always be a Tiger's legend.
I know there has been a vibe that he has had too much to say the last 3 or 4 years, too big for his boots was mentioned along with "you can't have the players running the club",whatever the truth its a very sad day for all Tigers fans and lets hope it turns out best for the club as well.

It wouldn't surprise me if the decision to move on was mutual. As many have noted, he hasn't appeared to be all that committed of late. In any case he's a businessman. I'm sure he's seen this kind of thing before. I reckon he'll do alright from any deals done.

This is a perfect example of why the salary cap needs to exclude players from the cap who have come through their junior ranks and allow them to be one club players. Irrespective that it's Robbie Farah, I think that the NRL should try and save the "One Club Player" breed because the way they're going, that breed will be non existent for our kids and their kids to see.

Best for all parties. Robbie does not have the thrust to push himself anymore. You could see that all season. He will always be a Tigers Legend but this is best for all and sundry. We have a good young replacement coming through and will build on what has been a shocking year. I say patience and we will get progress. But then again I bleed Black and Gold.

I read some people comment on how this will make other players nervous about a club legend being forced out. The reality is that 1 player demanding so much money and cripple the opportunity of others is what makes other players nervous and creates tension when the question arises to whether they are worth that much now! Yes he has severed the club well and deserves all the respect for his years of service. But he is 31 and he has nothing more to give. If he does love the club then he will step aside and let it grow in his wake. This is a business after all. We have seen so called loyalty to contracts in the past. A player can turn his back on a club and then we hate them for it but get over it. A club has to make a very tough decision for its future but I won't hate it for that! Things never stay the same for too long in the modern game. Change is inevitable. Enjoy those players while they last at your club.

Goodbye, thank you so very much Robbie and good luck.

Good first post and welcome to the forum.

No Balmain board members and no farah. He was the last piece of the old establishment that they want gone.

In any other era, Robbie would have been a true great of the game but he has always been behind Cam Smith. A bit like Stuart Magill and Warnie.

I think he deserves our respect and appreciation for what he has achieved and how he has carried the club over some very lean years.

I would not be surprised if this wasn't a Phil Moss move given how he cleaned out Penrith. I know Penrith went deep into the semi-finals last year but realistically has it been a success?

I see Micky Gordon, Jennings, Luke Lewis etc all playing well. I wonder where the panthers would be with this guys in their roster?

You only get rid of players if you have someone better coming through and I don't think that is the case internally at the Tigers.

Pretty sure it was as much to do with player influence as dollars at Penrith, and see similarities with Robbie. Also feel that come mid next season Cherrington will be the better option due to age if nothing else.

Agree with Gunners. Take out the emotion. He's on the wrong side of thirty, we're not getting value for money and he's looking to be more focused on Origin.

He's served the club well. Carried us on a rooted back from 06-09, but he's not looking interested and the club is suffering also. Let him finish up with a sweetheart deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to England and buys a season ticket to Anfield.

You can't take the emotion out of decisions like this. Sports teams are run on emotion - they rely on the emotion that fans put in, on people becoming completely emotionally immersed into a club. That's essentially how they make their money. This is indicative of a puerile culture that has come into the club since the new board took over - you don't treat your club legends like this: END OF STORY.

I can't help but feel devastated about this.

This club is a deadset disgrace. Seriously, if you were a player why would you come here after you see this happen to a club legend who has given his all get permission to walk because your administration have ruined the salary cap?

If I was Tedesco for example, I'd be thinking…sure, they want me here while I'm the new top gun just like Robbie was, but in 10 years time they're going to do the same to me when I started getting a bit slower and can't fend off 5 guys with each kick return and show no loyalty and fend me off when they run into money trouble.

Sure, I get it, it's professional sport. Robbie hasn't earnt his $900,000 for the past 2 seasons, but he is a club legend and legends don't die. He'll be back and probably kill it with a club who has their stuff together with a decent pack behind him. He's carried this side for over a decade, I don't blame the guy for a couple of off seasons. He's still the best hooker in NSW.

Look around at the top teams rosters. The Roosters, Broncos, Storm, Souths, Bulldogs, Cowboys all seem to be able to fit big names in their cap, another reason why Harry should buy this club. Every other decent club has a way to make them fit. But no, we're stuck with Farah, Woods and Taupau as our current rep players and we're now letting potentially our best player walk away to fix our cap. It's a joke.

The club should honour the deal in the first place. Make your bed, then lie in it.

Lawrence will be next, finally moved to the back row where he should've been for a long time and showing us he still has something great to offer and has the trademarks to be our Luke Lewis and we'll shuffle him off too.

Taupau will probably leg it, don't blame the guy.

Then what. Who wants to come to this club? Who if even off contract with the same value as Farah? Resigning nuffies like Lovett isn't the answer.

I'm sorry for venting my frustration, but for a club I've followed since I was a kid, this just doesn't make sense, I think it's a shocking move and I'm just so disappointed in the WT. I'm literally gutted.
