There are two relevant points for mine.

Is Robbie the best hooker in the club? Obviously yes,so why get rid of him?

Is Taylor making use of his skills? Obviously no.So instead of changing his tactics he gets rid of our best player/captain/legend so he can keep his same tactic.

ITS MADNESS!!!!

I have a problem understanding some people’s views of JT’s motives in all this.

It is clear that JT’s future at the club is pretty precarious. A poor season next year and he is probably gone. In fact this is probably his last chance of a head coach position.

Accordingly, you would think that his long term career interests coincide with the interests of the WT and the supporters. We all want success and his long term future depends on it. Without it, his career will crash and burn.

JT seems to believe that his long term interests as a coach are best served by moving Robbie on.

I don’t know if he is right or not. But I do think that he believes that this is our best chance of success.

What I don’t get is why people think he is so obviously wrong.

If the team is clearly better off with Robbie next year; if this so obvious to everyone, then you must be right ghost, JT must be mad. For what other explanation is there for a coach to be so willing to sabotage his own career?

Other explanations put forward are that JT is acting out of spite, ego or envy. I find these explanations unconvincing also.

If JT doesn’t get this right, he will never coach in the NRL again. The stakes are high and it’s hard to believe he would ignore his own long term interests for such petty reasons.

Yep, oh so obvious FD, yet some cannot see the forest for the trees.

i wonder if Taylor thought about his future prospects when he was throwing urine over a crowd at the cricket…..

i wonder if taylor was thinking about his future prospects when he instigated the incident at souths mad monday.....

its just me ...i dont think its obvious at all actually.

I think 'Farah the legend', 'WT for life' hype gets in the way for many.
It doesn't matter how many times it is said, 'Yes Farah is a very good Hooker' but there are other factors. Perhaps his attitude and influence on team mates is at question. Some people can't/won't see that. They can't see past the glow. Taylor did not make this decision lightly. Anyone who has been a similar position will know that. Good on him.

Demoting someone because they wont leave is not legal.

That's true bobo, and I don't think you've ever been unreasonable in your comments.

My opinion is it is very easy to justify demoting Farah to reserves, and incredibly difficult to challenge in court. Hence if it came to court, WT would argue that they are demoting Farah due to performance and not because he won't leave, that any comments were to tell Farah he would have better first-grade opportunities at another club, because of the decision they'd made on his form.

It's far too easy to justify this and I can't see any way the RLPA or Farah's lawyer could win this case based on a single comment made (or not made) at a single meeting.

So to me, it is irrelevant whether Rod Reddy made this comment, but it seems to be the argument upon which the "Farah is winning the PR battle" is hinged upon.

I don't think there is any argument against Farah is being hardly done by, but I also don't see any decent argument that he is being treated illegally.

You two have been watching too many episodes of suits.

Can you please advise what laws you are basing your argument on or are u basing Ur comments on what sounds right in your head?

A look back to 2009\. Read with interest.

Mark Ellison was popular with Souths players. Taylor was not. Taylor sacked him but Ellison was
re-hired by John Lang who took over from Taylor. Ellison is now Football Manager under Maguire. What do we make of that? Taylor was under pressure and there was a rumour of a player revolt. Read between the lines.

JASON NOT TAILOR-MADE FOR COACHING

If there is a coach whose "under the pump" more than Jason Taylor at South Sydney than I'd like to know who. For the quality of the roster, the Rabbitohs are the most under-performing team in the competition and the head coach should be held accountable.

The combination of curious selections and even more curious match tactics, has severely dimmed the confidence of Souths' supporters who went into the season feeling their side were genuine title contenders after solid recruitments over the off-season and the bonus of picking up star backrower Michael Crocker.

Former player and radio personality Peter Tunks has been highly critical of Taylor's coaching methods and calls from Souths' fans to his show, Talkin Sport on 2SM, suggests the ground swell of discontent is growing by the week.

Tunks says the suprise sacking of assistant coach Mark Ellison - considered part of the fabric at the Rabbitohs - was he felt an indication that Taylor was unwilling to take ownership for his team's poor performances and a style of play which the former Test prop says badly lacking in imagination.

Souths' "tragic" Darren, a regular caller to the Talkin Sport program who travels to games as far away as Townsville, has been another vocal critic of Taylor's handling of his beloved club.

With a forward talent full of internationals and a backline boasting both speed and talent, anything less than a semi-final's berth and it can be considered a failed season by the Rabbitohs leaving many questions to be asked of the club.

And the one at the top of the list should be:- "Is Jason Taylor the coach who can bring us a premiership within the next two years?

If the team misses out on the Top Eight, it won't by just Peter Tunks and Darren whose unequiviocal answer to that question will be a definitive "no'.

Why do people work mate… Let me tell u... For money.... So if someone says to you here is all the money your contact is entitled to. Take it. Now piss off... There's not many legal grounds you have one that money is received.

So stop trying to big note yourself by providing the number for the industrial relations commission. I'm pretty sure in any event the commission is not set up to give out free legal advice .

Bobo, do you get the feeling that they don't want to really find out as it may prove someone's wrong.
It's easier to just keep repeating the same thing over and over and keep thinking its gospel??

Just change the club name and it's a very interesting post. Should also be interesting watching this one get torn apart. Keep your head down, Bobo.

Fair enough bobo. I assume by your reply that you are in ghost's camp that "JT is mad".

Based on your examples, you seem to believe that JT is somehow divorced from reality. That he doesn't understand that his actions today have consequences in the future; that he suffers some sort of disconnect from his actions.

He doesn't understand, for example, that it is critical for his future as a coach that the WT have success in the immediate future and, despite this knowledge, he punts Robbie anyway, even though he knows that Robbie's presence is crucial to future success.

This is a sign of madness indeed, I agree!

I must confess, when the anti-JT crowd resort to psychoanalysis to justify their attacks, I am inclined to be skeptical.

(For the record, as I mentioned earlier, I am not supporting JT or condemning him. Time will tell.)

And if the CEO and board are serious they would be telling him to stay out of player management matters.

hahahaha, id actually think that most of the people on the board are in awe of harry or are simply just scared to death of their careers in their real worlds.
you dont tell a billionaire - regardless of anything - to mind your own business. lol.

ROFL if you think Harry has never been told no, he is wrong that he would react that way and have people running scared of him you have no idea. He doesn't have a business which has a high employee rating by running business affairs that way.

See that's the difference between you and people who are high up in business involved in multi million/billion dollar enterprises is that board members are paid to direct the business in the best way to deliver outcomes. That's what they are paid to do, direct the business accordingly, not direct the sponsors and take on the sponsors advice on player retention/recruitment.

People say no all the time to CEOs and large business men it's not unusual, and people in doing so often keep their job and opportunities afterwards.

If anything it would be wise for Harry to not meddle in the business given his comments of wanting to increase his sponsorship stake some weeks ago given the NRL have an invested stake in our club currently. Harry is smarter than that and luckily so are those now leading the club.

Gee whiz, stumbled across this archived LU forum post from the time of Taylor's sacking at Souths. [CORRECTION: this post is from May 2008\. The mad Monday incident was Sept. 2009].

The allegations - I stress allegations - in the opening post suggesting Taylor getting his coach(es) sacked, his power struggles with the coaches and even his reaction to getting punted to reserve grade sound shockingly familiar.
