Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Statement off website baffles me.

Wests Tigers would like to clarify media reports tonight regarding Robbie Farah.
CEO Justin Pascoe said: “The Club has always maintained that it would honour its contractual obligations to Robbie.“This does not change the fact that Robbie has been granted permission to speak with other Clubs.”

We legally have to honour the contract why would we release a statement saying we would do what we are legally obliged to unless we have changed our course of action.

So, he still might be somewhere else next yr?

Basically, the club released a statement saying a whole lot of nothing?

I have a hunch the new CEO has made a call about Robbie which, has gone down like a lead balloon with he coach and the board who seem to close to Taylor. Gould did state Pascoe would sort out the Farah situation right away and Farah would stay a Tiger. Plot thickens.

I dunno. I can't see a new CEO coming in and overturning a decision already made by the board and coach.

Sounds like he is just pointing out that the club is not going to try and do anything to try and force Farah out, and if he goes it will be his decision to do so.
despite some opinions here that it won't be.
Good to see that there is a small amount of professionalism in the club at last.
Nothing about threats from coaches. Or leaks from Boardmembers partners
Just the situation as it really is.

Not really baffling. Media is reporting he is likely to stay and fans are saying things like "Great, now lets get back to business".

Club is saying nothing has changed.

Wests Tigers where always going to honour Farah's contract…..Wests Tigers have also told Farah he is free to explore his opions at other Clubs.....nothing has changed in Pascoes' statement that wasn't there on page 1....

More drama queens here than a DCE press conference....

As I said from day 1 Farah would stay , Farah's not even looking , he's had two offers we know about and has found some piss poor excuses not to go

Now will they stick him playing NSW Cup for two seasons as promised ??

Maybe we are that desperate for a premiership we should stick the entire NRL side in NSW Cup

That's the problem Geo , they will back down on the NSW Cup thing , that's what the hidden message is

Farah didn't need any"piss poor excuses"
He was within his rights to either say yes he wanted to go, or no he didn't want to go.
It was his decision to make, not Taylors. Or the boards

Farah won't leave , he couldn't survive at a real rugby league club

Going by the Holidays pictures he hardly looks worried .

I'm wondering whether Farah accidentally bumped into Brooks and Tedesco while in Bali ? The last thing you would want to do is Holiday with Mates that don't like you .

I think he would be carving it up being Coached by a real Coach.

Where is he overturning anything.
Maybe he's just told the board that they have no legal right to try and force any one out if they are contracted. No one knows what Taylor has told the board about the situation . They may have been fed a load of bull.
Maybe Taylor didn't think that this would be running by the time that the new CEO started., and it would be all wrapped up.
He's spoken to both the board and Taylor, and it's now up to Farah, he's already said he can work with Taylor. Maybe Taylors insecurity will prevent him from working with Farah.
If so then enjoy your next club Jason

They can pay him out what he's due. So they can force him out easily.

Your tin foil is on way too tight again…..the original quote in Farah's presser was MA Y MAY MAY find yourself in State Cup if you stay...it's back on page 22 or something if you wanna look it up.......

Low and behold the Club released a statement stating exactly what I said in my posy...go figure......

The release was no accident by Pascoe and it confirms exactly what Gould said he would do as soon as he gets in the chair. This is a big slap down of Jason Taylor's handling of the situation make no mistake.
I took some time to actually read the transcript

Asked if Farah would wear Tigers colours next year should he wish to stay, Pascoe said: “Yeah”.
“We will honour contractual commitments but in saying that Robbie has been given permission to investigate opportunities at other clubs.“He’s the current captain of the club and the life member of the club.“I hope everyone rests assured that the decision to let Robbie negotiate with other clubs, if that’s what he chooses to do, was not made lightly.”

I believe Taylor's position is completely untenable and his down fall is all his own fault. For the good of the club Taylor needs to accept Farah will stay and work out a game plan the team can work with that utilises their best players including Farah. If he is not man enough to change his ways then he needs to walk.

I still find it hard to believe a new ceo would over rule a decision already made by the coach and board.
