Robert Lui charged with assaulting girlfriend

Could Fulton be the answer switching between hooker and half back Robbie Farah likes interchanging between hooker and 1st reciever
We have a heap of back rowers for next season
Fulton's running game isn't as good as Lui's but his defence certainly makes up for that over Lui's

What the bloody hell? What is wrong with this guy?

Yeah sure innocent until proven guilty, charges were dropped last time etc.

But seriously, what the hell is wrong with him?

lol at everyone wishing Moltzen was sticking round. I didn't think there was anyone who still thought he was a halfback. He never passes at the line and has no kicking game. Didn't anyone see the kick he put in from dummy half against the Dragons? Miller was alwayz above him in the pecking order

back on Lui, very dissapinting. Just hope theres not much in it. As far as the tigers 'should sack him' line well, no they shouldn't, not yet anyway. He wasn't convicted last time, so that should be a non issue for the tigers. Think of it like this, if Benji got himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and was charged, would anyone be calling for his sacking? not a chance

It's not the same thing if "the wrong place" is at home and "the wrong time" is whenever you're in a bad mood.

regardless what the stuation is, if Marshall was charged again, there wouldn't be a single person calling for his head

Marshall wasn't charged the first time for beating his pregnant girlfriend. Apples and oranges. Comparing the two is ridiculous.

If Marshall was charged with domestic assault, twice, I think quite a few people would be calling for his head.

Shocking news.
Wonder what the outcome will be? Have to wait & see….
Mrs. Lui should file for divorce maybe, lol.
Then we wouldn't have these situations?

Lui is good but it seems he can't handle himself @ all,
twice is two times too many.
You'd think he'd have a bit more respect for the mother of his child.
Horrible, bad look for the club also.

Apparently Lui has been stood down indefinitely.

Edit: official on website:

http://www.weststigers.com.au/default.aspx?s=article-display&id=43758&title=statement-on-rob-lui

Official statement:

Wests Tigers can confirm that Robert Lui has been charged by NSW police this morning with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The Club and the player in question have co-operated fully with the police investigations. Both Robert and his partner Taleah will be offered counselling by the Club.

Given the nature of the allegation, Robert has been immediately stood down from all Club duties until further notice.

It is important however that the legal process is now respected by all parties and as such it would be inappropriate for us to be making any further comment at this stage.

General comment, not directed at this specific incident, but I would argue that there's a lot more to domestic violence, and it takes a lot more to resolve issues of domestic violence, then women simply not seeking a divorce.

I think comments like this trivialize this matter specifically, and the issue of domestic violence more generally, and don't add to the discussion.

If we do have to let him go, another club are just going to pick him up and get the benefits. Its a sad day for all.

Although, Dane Lorry was never heard from again…

at least we got 25K from Penrith for Laurie, we get nothing for developing this kid

Very Sad situation :frowning:

As just about everyone else has said it's a terrible story all round.

If the worst happens and the club decides to cut him I do have faith that Miller could step up, perhaps not in 2012 but from 2013 on.

Just a terrible story and on the back of the Warriors debacle it's not a great time for the WT's.

This comment is not directed at Rob Lui, but the unfortunate reality is that many young men, particularly those with either indigenous backgrounds, or those from marginalised communities, see violence and confrontation as a way of solving conflicts. A UNSW some years ago noted that violence was a perpetual feature of up to 80% of indigenous families in Northern Territory communities. It's not hard to understand that some young men feel this is quite a normal way to solve conflict, given they've probably observed parents, grandparents and immediate family members practice violence over the years

Terrible news, terrible incident.

I dont think there is much I can add to everything that has been said, unacceptable behaviour, no room for this behaviour at our club.

Anywhere in life the more talented the indidual the more serious the indiscretions that others will put up with, Lui is no where near talented enough for the tigers to overlook this indiscretion. (2 counts of domestic violence is prob more than almost any players talent can see it being overlooked)

We are only discussing the facts of the case. Why do you think it needs to be closed?
