I hate this attitude.

PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS!

For all we know they did "monitor" him….you can only hold someones hand for so long, the blokes 21 a so-called adult.

I hate this crap and if found guilty I hope he does hard time

Still gutted by the loss on Friday night, and now, this!! Again!! :frowning:

Maybe a sleepover at Benji's or Robbie's place was in order, then, send him home sober the next day? I don't know, but, as both of these incidents occurred on Mad Mondays (probably the only time he gets smashed all year) it does seem like alcohol is not your friend, Rob Lui! Violence against women is not acceptable!

Get some help!!!

x 1 million!

So many people today refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. Man up people and take responsibility for your own actions.

YOU are responsible for what you do NO ONE ELSE!

I see if so often in my family and friends and I can't believe that this attitude has crept so easily into mainstream society.

Makes me sick some times to see this attitude.

Its always some one else's fault never our own.

Quite. What was the club meant to do - stop him going home? Ever? I might be slightly more inclined to buy the "they should have looked after him better" argument if we were talking about a guy who got arrested for getting in trouble up at the Cross at 4am (though only on the basis that if you've invested in someone that dumb you've pretty much made your own obligation to protect that investment by babysitting it) but seriously: how do you stop a guy going home?

100%… I agree!

he has a problem.
let him stay at the club and help him address it.
the worst thing we can do is release him and make the problem someone elses.
we have a duty of care to our players and their families.

Violence against women is unacceptable. So is being found guilty in the public's mind on the basis of accusation and speculation.

If the presumption of innocence is to have any content then the course of criminal proceedings must be allowed to play out – as frustrating as that is to interested onlookers.

A criminal charge is not a criminal conviction.

Everyone has got problems mtd - but we don't go (allegedly) bashing our missus every time we get a bit upset.
The club has already done their part.
Lui also has a duty to the club and his fans - you can bet he got an enormous amount of counseling last year which proved a total waste.
Even though Todd Carney does some stupid stuff on the booze he hasn't been charged with anything as serious as this.
There were rumours the Broncos were going to announce Lui's signing at the end of their season but I don't think , even if true , he will be going anywhere in a hurry now.

So So true Mrs T !!

Lets see they were knocked out on Friday night so lets assume the drinking started then. Thats Friday, Saturday , Sunday and Monday drinking all day and all night. Not good for someone who can't handle their drink.

Peter Peters had the right idea about Mad Monday, hire an apartment and lock them in. That way the only people they could hurt is themselves!!

Such a sad sad situation, hope all involved get the help and support they need. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Very, very sad that this has happened again, if true, and totally unacceptable behaviour. I've always liked Lui, as a player, and I was really looking forward to seeing him develop even further next year. I do hope his girlfriend is ok - this is the most important thing right now.

alexaki….care to comment???

I really like lui and The stupid thing is the tigers will probably try do the right thing and sack him but some over club will probably end up buying him and we loose a promising young player while another club gains one. Didn't dane Laurie get sacked for assaulting his girlfriend and the penriff signed him ??

Rubbish, he's an adult and needs to make adult decisions. If he has problems when he drinks he needs to stop drinking. Humphries and co can't hold all our players' hands in every aspect of their life. We are his employer, not their babysitter.

just driving home from picking my 2 cubs up they heard the lui news report and asked me what happened, sat them down and explained hes been arrested for hitting his girlfriend and how wrong it is to hit girls, and probably won't play for the tigers again. My eldest (whos 7 ) responded well dad he was my favourite now mat utai is my favourite i hope he don't play for them ever again.

…really Wests Tigers Management should have kept a closer eye of Robert , considering what happen last year around the same time .

What should the club have done? Posted a security guard with his Mrs?

If this alleged act occurred, there is only one person to blame and that is Robert Lui.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY people.

Unfortunately these two words have been sidelined in our modern society. It seems it is every one else's fault but the perpetrator.

I'm extemely dissappointed with this "news". A sad day indeed for all involved.

Fair call Glennb , but basicLly the guys a great employee throughout the year , except he is a function drunk …he was more inclined to fall asleep in a seat near the dance floor than anything else.
But on Lui , Management & his fellow players should have been aware of what triggered him off last year , and as Mrs T said maybe he should have had a sleepover at Breakfast point apartment or another player's pad to go home sobber ...we all know that Mad Mondays is the downfall of some.

I not making excuses for him , as this act of alleged violence cannot be tolerated , bit if you know one of your young gun stars has a problem , maybe some safeguard steps should have been put in place , so innocent partners & the Wests Tigers Brand are protected

ShireTiger , a I agree with your post , but let me put it this way.
My company employs 30 staff , which my brothers & I take out every Christmas and have a 11 course Italian banquet with great wines , beers & Spirits . Of course we give them all cab charges to get them all home safe & sound.
On the first Christmas of this great salesman we employed , he drunk a lot & fast & by the end of the main courses he had gone walkabout , and had got himself in a fight outside the club we were at.

The next Christmas & the next 6 after that , we made sure he sat next to one of my brothers , and even though he drank just as much and in record time , we made sure he was placed in a cab safely every time with instructions to the cabbie to go directly to the home address we gave the cabbie .

All our employees , like the Wests Tigers are like family , and you quickly learn all the good & bad traits of them .
To me it's not just a coincidence this has happen twice the morning after mad Monday

Very admirable Aladinsane, but…hypothetically speaking, once your employee got home safe and sound in his company paid for taxi, how did you and your company make sure that this employee did not then beat up his missus?

I just hope thatits dealt with swiftly and, for Lui's sake it's cleared so he is able to get proper treatment for his issues because I wouldn't want to loose a player of his promise and so close to coming of age.

However, I won't complain if the authorities find him guilty and he is forced to leave.

There seems some here who view that it is ok to be violent if you are drunk. Im sorry, I love a beer as much as the next guy, but that attitude is wrong.

In my view, getting pissed doesn't give you the right to perpetrate violence.

If you got pissed and were violent against somone, the person to blame is you, not the grog.

You poured the grog down your gullet to get pissed. No one else. No one held a gun to head and said "drink".

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. I am so sick of this nany state mentality. It is everyone else's fault. Sorry, that is bull dust.
