SYDNEY Roosters coach Brian Smith has been sacked from the final year of his contract next season.

Smith, who has been head coach at the Roosters for the last three seasons, was tapped on the shoulder by club power brokers at the conclusion of round 26.

It is understood Smith was given the option of moving into a coaching director’s role for the final year of his club but chose to end his contract now.

The Roosters came 13th this season after being grand finalists in 2010.

Well we do need a cleanout and there isn't a better hatchet man in the business then Smithy. The guys ruthless

Was only thinking this morning that today , after the Dally M's , would be the perfect time to dump an underperforming coach.
Was hoping it would be Sheens …. maybe now our board will show the same ticker as the Roosters and follow suit.

yeah you get that feeling if they sign Taylor. FG coach next year & assistant coach to Bellamy the year after. Not too many people say no to uncle Nick.
