I'm sure if we didn't hesitate on TPJ he probably would've played for us last night, and we wouldn't have gone after Finucane as a result. there is no need to deviate from the plan just because Rothfield has hit the turps and rambled in his weekly column.
it's simple. if we're after a player we need to back ourselves to the hilt. get Lee out of the media or at the very least stop him from commenting on recruitment matters. if we're sticking with Madge, put the message out and target the players that will play for him. continue to poach elite talent stuck in other systems and develop them here. it's the only way up. who cares about established players, if they don't want to come to us then build it without them.
everything that is going on in the media is noise. Chammas, Rothfield and Crawley are gronks who write to drive up website traffic. we string a few performances together and finish the year strong then the heat dies down.
I don't get it - you finish up by saying everything in the media is "noise", but you open by quoting that same media as fact. What hesitancy about the TPJ and Finucane deals? What division on who we are going after? That's all pure speculation.
there was word from inside sources on here and the press that we were umming and ahhing about TPJ and Finucane for sometime. I could show you a post that Pom wrote about management being divided about offering Finucane a deal. obviously it's one person's word against another but I think that it's true.
the 'opinion' pieces written about the tigers i.e what Chammas and Buzz have produced in the past few weeks is the noise I'm speaking about. the club isn't going to come out and confirm that they were acting in that manner, that would be a nightmare. you may argue that that's speculation, but Lee coming out and saying that TPJ wasn't a good fit and then us going back in for him paints a pretty accurate picture imo.
