I guess I.muat be bias but I still don't think garner deserves to start

What did he do wrong today? Ran decent lines and defended well from what I saw. With Blore injured we don't have too many other options unless you want to throw MCK in there?

I def don't want mck and he probs is our best option atm. However he fell of his usual amount of tackles and had some lazy efforts getting back in the defensive line. Like I have mentioned nobody else comments on it so I must be biased against him. I can't work out why.

You saw MCK exactly the way i do,fine in parts but just does not have the mental temperament to spend much time on the field

After today's final hitout...

1. Laurie
2. Nofoaluma
3. JTJ
4. Joey L
5. AJ
6. Mbye
7. Brooks
8. Tamou
9. Liddle
10. Mighty Joe O
11. Garner
12. LL Cool J
13. Twal

14. Simpkin
15. Seyfarth
16. Stefano
17. Mikaele

18. Simpkins
19. Tuilagi

Throw Musgrove and Blore into the mix and we're looking formidable.

Why Simpkin Willow ??

Liddle was doing it on his ear today ....again true he probably won't get the same latitude in attack and will have to do a lot more defence .....but our middle will be key all year ..how it holds up under pressure in defence is vital .....4 forwards ...it's a no brainer for me

I'm not sure Liddle has 80 in him for the first few rounds. I think with the way the ruck speed may work, two 9's may be the best bet, or I'd at least roll with Mbye on the bench once AD is back as he provides genuine utility value.

Liddle made more tackles than anyone today and I don't think anyone can keep that up for the full 80. Liddle and Simpkin worked well together last week so It's not like you're just wasting a bench spot by only playing them both for 40. In fact I thought when both were on together last week it gave the team a different dynamic.

I think the way the game will be played this year (with the rule changes) not many will play the full 80 We have a very Mobile pack this year that will bend the line constantly and line speed will be of the utmost importance. Our starting 13 today minus Madden & AJ replaced by Mbye and Joey with a bench of SIMPKIN STEFANO PACKER and MIKAELE/ SIMPKINS.

We need to use PACKER while he's keen and fresh and hopefully continue the way he played today for the rest of the year.
GARNER could have a question mark over whether he can play consistently to hold a FH spot with all the young guys nipping at the heals of those in the top 19

No.1 option Daine makes great first impression in Tigers romp

Exciting Wests Tigers recruit Daine Laurie believes he's "ready" to start at fullback in round one after scoring a double in Sunday's 52-18 trial romp against Manly.

The 21-year-old, who played his lone NRL game for Penrith last season, claimed two tries within 12 minutes at Leichhardt Oval.

The under-strength Sea Eagles lost Cade Cust to a suspected broken thumb after 25 minutes and didn't play stars including Daly Cherry-Evans, Kieran Foran, Dylan Walker and Jake Trbojevic.

Cust's injury threatened to leave Manly without a hooker in a fortnight's time, but coach Des Hasler said fellow No.9 option Lachlan Croker would be OK and was only "rested" for the trial.

Laurie, who made his Tigers debut in last weekend's emerging players clash with the Roosters, said he'll "take my opportunity with both hands" if selected for the season opener against the Raiders.

"It's up to Madge [Michael Maguire] and the coaching staff .... If they put me in there, I'll do my job. I'm ready, I think."

Former captain Moses Mbye has trained at fullback in the pre-season but is racing the clock for round one with a hamstring issue.

Laurie, whose first try came from a blindside dummy-half scoot and his other from a Luciano Leilua offload, arrived at the Tigers earlier in February but already he feels at ease.

"Leichardt on a Sunday afternoon – it looks good when it's all packed and to see all the crowd come out tonight was awesome," he said.

"I only came over a couple of weeks ago, but the boys have just been working hard and I reckon [the trial] will be a good thing to go off."

Destructive centre Joey Leilua didn't feature for the Tigers due to a minor foot injury that required a moon boot but should be fine to lock horns with his former club in the nation's capital.

Josh Aloiai, facing the Tigers for the first time since his acrimonious off-season split, came off the interchange and had a decent hit-out with heavy strapping on the knee he injured last year.

For the Tigers, new centre James Roberts lined up on the right edge inside star winger David Nofoaluma, who grabbed a try after bagging 17 last season, and The Jet had some strong touches including a second-half touchdown from a deft Luke Brooks grubber.

Roberts was replaced with 17 minutes to go and earned a rousing reception from the passionate crowd of 5212.

Halfback Brooks himself was on song, first nicely partnering rookie Jock Madden and spending the second term with Adam Doueihi, who is suspended for round one, at five-eighth.

Brooks mostly assumed the goal-kicking duties – a skill he's been practising throughout the pre-season – in a sign he'll have the tee in round one. Doueihi took over once Brooks was on the bench.

After Laurie's quickfire brace, precocious Manly five-eighth Josh Schuster placed a cross-field kick for halfback Kaeo Weekes to score.

Tries to winger Asu Kepaoa and centre Tommy Talau, who started at left centre, ensured the Tigers remained in control.

A bloodbath ensued in the second half as the Tigers rumbled up-field with ease. Doueihi, Roberts, Kelma Tuilagi, Nofoaluma and bench hooker Jake Simpkin pushed the Tigers past the half-century mark.

Youngster Ben Trbojevic and Schuster provided rare highlights for the Sea Eagles as they crossed the stripe.

In more good Tigers news, promising pivot Madden has inked a one-year contract extension, and the club is also expected to announce the signing of former Rabbitohs prop Tom Amone on Monday.

With some of the new rules I actually think the game might slow down ...not actually speed up

Many teams are going to be kicking for touch and trying to control defensive field position ...thus getting better field position in attack

Tuilagi won't be playing until round 11 unless he is upgraded into our 30.

Sure. But, the call for including him is clearly premised on him being upgraded. Given we will likely need to upgrade at least 2 players, Kelma is in a good position to be in top 30.

It would only be for round 1 until AD slots back in. But also wouldn’t mind Tommy being on the bench either. The first month will be very big for Mosesas it could be make or break for him. Especially with Simpkin showing great skill with his stints so far.

Daine Laurie reminds me of a former superstar named Ben Barba . They look eerily similar in playing style.
