TEAM LIST Round 12 vs. Cowboys

Team List
Quick hands and draw and pass SteveC, two things that we really struggle with. Might actually be a good idea for our centres and wingers to have dinner this week so they get to
know each other.
Can’t really remember when either of the centres delivered a pass for the winger to score, been Bula or a Brooks cutout of late.
Spot on Hal

And do you believe Joffa is the answer ???
Wouldn’t Blore be that go to guy ?
Another safety first decision ,imo?

I think that Spartan was thinking about impact off the bench, which has been lacking and I totally agree.

If Joffa is allowed to unload it could be a different story, as he created plenty of opportunities to do so again on the weekend, but it seems that tucking the ball away is the strategy.

Not the way I read it TS. I took it as inside info Joffa to start.
Perhaps Spartan can clarify ?

Blore in for Offa, Blore can play both 2rf and prop if required, but Offa is a prop only, and that does not include lock either.

Laurie in for Wakes unless we’re not keeping him, and in that case carry on. But we should be playing Wakeham’s replacement in the halves in reggies getting him ready for nrl. Pellow maybe?

And HTH does Talau get another run at nrl centre, I can only presume the centre replacements are even worse, missing more tackles and hogging the ball?

And rotating matamua with both nrl mins off the bench, and full games in reggies.

That’s just what I reckon.
We know that, for some bizarre reason (unbeknownst to us), the coaches love Talau. The fact is, after numerous opportunities, he has shown himself to be bog average, as he can't pass, catch, run or tackle to a first grade standard.
Now to the team - boring and numbingly predictable! Of course the argument was that we needed to stick to the same team to develop combinations. Really? Are Brooks, Wakeham and the rest of the backs really going to get better with more practice? Haven't we already stood by this bunch for a few games and seen nothing but confusion and a complete lack of creativity in the opposition quarter? As many have said, Wakeham doesn't take the ball deep into the line, actually neither does Brooks! Ok, let's persevere one more time wiith a team that scored 3 tries in pouring rain against a mistake ridden Penrith, three tries against an inept St.George and nil total points against Souths when we dominated completions and field position for the umpteenth time. Obviously, we have a major problem with our attack. High completion rates contain the opposition, yes, but does it deliver us points? No.
Ok Tim, have your own dull way again this week but, if the Cowboys beat us 4 tries to 2 when we dominate completions, possession and territory again, please take our advice( for once) and do this;

1. Replace Wakeham with Laurie
2. Replace Talau with Reilly
3. Bring Bloore in for Simpkin on the bench
4. Bring more creativity into the match plan with forwards charging hard and straight, a few offloads, backing up and some new set plays (come on shock us!)

Anyone who hasn't watched at least three recent KOE Cup games or highlights is not qualified to make comments on Reilly or Laurie and should shut up. They've both shown a lot more flair and ability than either Wakeham or Talau. Come on Tim, you can do it. You know that you need to see what you've got in the ranks...

Tirade over. You can wake up now....

Are you guys forgetting talau is only filling in for naden?

Reilly solves nothing the backs don’t get the ball outside of kick returns or hitups.

Laurie over Wakeham might help attack wise but he has next to no upside as he is totally disengaged.

The issue we have is trying something needs us to actually have better options which we just don’t have.
Riley is good in defence and what iv seen in attack the last few weeks through highlights and live games on fox looks better in attack.

Laurie has no kicking game, so that’s the only reason why I wouldn’t have him there over wakeham. Looks good in attack in cup, but average if that on his kicking game.

Talau missed a few opportunities to put Junior Tupou away. You just need to give him the ball one-on-one, doesn't matter if it's not the best ball. So long as he can catch it. On this basis he is lucky to still be in the team. Kepaoa did a better job of passing the ball to Tupou.

Talau seems to only pass it if he think he is no chance of pulling something miraculous off himself (Think back to when he passed the ball to Tupou who scored the last try against Dragons, he had starved Tupou of any 1 on 1 or open space opportunities. When it looked like Talau was 4 on 1 and ready to get smashed he finally passed it to Tupou, who did a miraculous job to score).

Any time Tommy has half a chance he tries to do it all himself. Naden was our best attacker at the start of the season and it was when he was at left centre(He was the only one making any breaks), after they moved him he had quite the dip in attacking output. Starford seems to have the right side locked down for now so hopefully they put Naden back on the left after the bye as I am quite certain he will form quite an attacking combination with Tupou, & neither of them are afraid to pass the ball (Think back to Tupou's flick pass to Kepaoa recently & Naden to Tupou in the trail against Raiders).

How long do we think it will be until we give Junior himself the centre spot though? He definitely has too much skill to just be used as a battering ram, reminds me of a young RTS with his footwork. Target Lomax and resign Charlie and next year we could have this back 5:

1. Bula
2. Nofa (Wild thought but try a player trade for Saab? Hasn't been great this year but was one of their best when they were firing, pretty much my same thoughts for Lomax and Dragons)
3. Junior
4. Lomax
5. Charlie

I think most of you guys are missing the point by saying x on the bench instead of y and replace m with n because we need more impact...WRONG ON ALL ACCOUNTS.....
If we are fairdinkum about our team, the forwards have laid a great platform nearly every game by getting the team in the opposition zone, and all we do is NOT score points, this is a coaching problem and they have to convert opportunity which the forwards provide into points...Benji,Farah and Sheens need to put their boneheads together and come up with the gameplan and structure that the team can pressure the opposition and cross the try line,I mean they are the COACHING GURUS given to us to show us that we have changed and we are going to be a force to be reckoned with,to me looking at the performances of this year they have been great,BUT we are NO better than when Madge was here better f/a but still on the bottom of the ladder and not looking like a finals threat.just as per the last 10 years...
