LIVE GAME Round 26 v Raiders

Live Game Discussion
Was pretty chilly up here in taree today dazz
It won't be long before it's TOO HOT🔥our way, (We live in Lansdowne) I've got to declutter and clean up our house. It's pretty much a mess as I started renovating back in 2015-16 but my injuries got worse so we have a complete kitchen in boxes including all appliances. I don't have much time to get it done so we can get the aircon we bought installed. Our place gets uncomfortably hot when the temp hits 28C. We have a Colorbond roof and the insulation batts are crap and not installed properly.

The breeze was all over the shop. They actually put some great high balls up that swirled and postioned their fullback to look into the sun to take them. I thought the kicking was pretty good
Yeah you're right, poor old Turuva lost sight of the ball in the sun, gifting the Raiders their first try.

Yep when you watch them live it’s very noticeable how off the cuff they play. I don’t have any issue with it but damn I wish we learned how to stab kicks into corners or put a grubber in Goal once in awhile

There’s a tonne of improvement left in this team, a better kicking game and a touch up on discipline would put this team in good hands

Api probably had his worse kicking day Today. We really missed AD.....who had been on fire until he got injured again. His high balls would have been very dangerous in that wind and he would have had a better short kicking than Api or Romey. AD would have given the boys better field position, more time in Canberra's red zone, he could have got a 40/20 or 2.
I'll be the first to admit I wasn't a big fan of his, his defence has improved out of sight! We probably would have won last week if he was playing 😔

turn it into fun - get em all involved. Only way to eat an elephant is 1 bite at a time

I love Bula, he is a fantastic player and I'd say in the top 5 speedsters in the game. However, twice he had the opportunity to pass to the outside man where we had numbers on the Raiders defenders.......at least one of those occasions would have resulted in a try.

I feel for the boys, they looked more dangerous than the Raiders except when they were 10 or so metres out.
Poor options and playing like headless chooks

The refereeing? The WORST we've copped since that infamous game v Cowgirls when they got that penalty that won them the game after the fulltime bell.

Put it this way, the game was refereed like it was scripted for a Raiders win, once again WT copped the rough end of the refereeing 🍍.

We missed the AD, in the recenmt form he was our best kicker,. aften looked to run.
Sadly L Fainu, is too slow,. and emails, SMSs, calls and teleghraphs his decisionm on
rare occassions when he decides to run.
It looks that by chasing Latu, we got the other brothers on a budget.
Sukkar is just another, and even worse version of Seyfarth.

I also thought T’oa blew a couple opportunities aswell, although to his credit … if it was anyone but Ethan strange he probably has a try to his name

A bit early to wash your hands of him. Latu is still only 20, has missed lots of reps as a play caller due to injury, Galvin getting the jump on him, and being played as a 14 for most of the past 2 seasons.

He’s finally getting a consistent run without injury, but needs a full pre-season developing as a half.

Benji will have at least 5 guys rotating through the halves in opposed sessions in the pre season with Latu, Luai, Doueihi, Maddden, and Andrews + any T&T’s they bring in. He’ll have decisions to make re Latu and Doueihi and their roles in 2026 and beyond.

Good effort today especially in defense we were always going to be up against it in this game with the Raiders attempting to finish 1st the old unconscious bias coming into effect affecting the refs.

Only thing I thought could have been a lot better was the 2nd half with the wind, where was the floating bombs that create the 50/50 chance of gaining possession.

That was a difficult game today, I'm proud of the boy's effort they really have improved from last season previously the sea would have parted and a flogging would have resulted now let's finish off the season with a win.
That’s where we missed Doueihi.

Really?
Our kicking was rubbish
How many times did we get caught with the ball on the 5th tackle at their end?
I was trying to see what reaction I got from the forum. Only one. The comment was a gee up. Now I can understand why our so-called coach's failed to instruct our captains to play the game down the Raiders end and use the wind to our advantage.
The referee was terrible and once again manufactured the NRL required result. That does not abstain our dumb coaches and leaders from not using the wind in the second half. Those 6 agains and penalties are less damaging in the Raiders end.
Short dropouts have only ever been an advantage to teams with very tall outside backs. Watching recent games, it seems the smarter coaches have caught on and are now driving the ball down field. As usual we are way behind.

Going down there with MP up for grabs after 35 years, plus Pap's achievement game, full house blinkered on crowd led by the most blinkered coach in the league - more positives than negatives. If they were accused of trying to slow the play down and it effected the ability of the opposition to play the way they wanted to - good on them. They were in it till the 75th minute with no favours - it was a gutsy performance.
