LIVE GAME Round 27 vs. Eels

Live Game Discussion
I wonder why it's taking so long.

Maybe the experienced guys who are options want no part of being under a rookie like Benji
Yep, we have a problem Houston, and it's bigger than a possible botched moon landing.
We can't appoint an experienced top coach as they certainly wouldn't serve under Benji as you said, and that would be an admission of failure with Benji anyway.
No current assistant coach would want to serve under Benji either.
Imo there is no reasonable option but to stick with Benji and hope as Richo has said...he is, or will be a good coach 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.

Not sure how any team can consolidate and gel with 12 debutants in a season and rarely players available to pick the same team two weeks in a row. I don't know if Benji can coach or not but given what he had to work with not prepared to measure it on with this squad.
Was interested in Flanngan's response when asked if he would make changes to his side after Parra debacle - "no unless I pull players out of A grade" - the reality coaches face when it all goes to crap.

That's been fairly consistent throughout the year, barring the odd performance here and there. Definately could not pay that guy marquee money. I'm glad he knocked it back, but you know he'll turn into the incredible Hulk down Melbourne you can bookmark it now.
Yep. These blokes that are prepared to take the BIG $$$ and not put in a big performance and bludge.
He'd have to be somewhere near the top of our list of famous PLODDERS.
I can't understand how our club didn't see him for what he is and then...... offered him a contract with more $$$ to stay with us 🙁.

Our backline last night apart from Galvin will not be starting next year, it was basically a KOE backline bar Galvin, and people are surprised we got beaten badly. Everyone saying sack Benji and this years team has been way better than previous sides needs to take a chill pill. Benji has had to blood young guys because there is only poo around them bar Api, what is he supposed to have achieved this year a premiership, please.
Let Benji have a year with Luai, Bird, Hunt, Turuva and more alongside our 2nd year juniors then see how he goes. Sacking him now only leads to another few years behind the 8ball.

No it doesn’t.
It is a professional, proactive approach.
This is top level football in the world’s most elite competition.
It is not a place for an L plate coach and his L plate players.

We have some promising young forwards coming through but our backs are still to young. Magaseni? and Large come to mind.
I'm sure that people on this forum who are familiar with our lower grades can add to the list.

Good times ahead.

Helps to have Tua (195cm), Nelson (200cm), Lazerus (190cm), etc to soften up the defence, off the back of returns from Coates (194cm), Warbrick (193cm), Horwath (193cm) and Anderson (187cm). An unstoppable Ei Katoa (193cm) running a great line towards a half. All big powerful bodies and will dominate the contact over the course of a match. Add the skill, speed, power, and agility around the middle of Hughes, Munster, and Paps, Saulauvi, etc. How could you not play decent off them?
Because he will be turning out in the feeder club.

See how Flanagan handled the press conference last week, and his side lost by 4, compare that to Benji this week, a sold out home crowd all to play for, it's chalk and cheese
Flanagan doesn’t have a team of youngsters , nor do I think he should be the hard stick given that he all bit cheated to win a comp! Was it his post match sprays or the team-wide peptides that brought success?

With young players you need to pick your battles as they are going to make plenty of mistakes - there’s been times where Benji has been furious in post pressers, but today? What’s the point? It will fall on deaf ears.

Go away, get drunk, come back in on review and work towards next year.

One would be forgiven thinking that our NRL side is preparing our kids for their pathways teams.

The youth policy sounds like the ultimate in excuse making for mine.

Hopefully we have taken a few of those eels loafers hostage and tunnelled them into the Zurich white elephant.

Funny what playing for ones contract can elicit footy wise.

Not at our club of course. No pressure if you’re on the Benji.

Suva beckons Benji, cram in another holiday before the 2 minute season review. In fact, no review required, there’s nothing to learn from this season. It’s best fogotten.

Farah was right, so counter-intuitive and unsettling.

I think Api needs to be stripped of his captaincy to focus on his game. When on song, he’s probably the craftiest dummy half in the game… lump that with a whole heap of responsibility on his shoulders and he shits the bed

The challenge in the first 10 mins
Kick out on the full
Sin bin

Great player, not so great leader. Not really sure who you’d give it to tho… Luai maybe
All his errors are symptoms of being given too much responsibility. Constantly overplaying his hand is making him look like a rubbish player, when in reality he's doing too much, not too little. A good coach would tell him to step aside and let someone else have a crack, but seeing as our 'standards' are to have fun and take the positives out of every loss it seems like nothing will change

I'm sure you'll email Richo about it then?
