ANZAC round

Has anyone on here had loved ones who fought in the first or second war?

My granddaddy fought in the second against the Japanese. He was bayoneted on his buttocks but survived and met a nurse while in hospital which was my grandma.

He lived the rest of his life with PTSD and would scream and moan at night with nightmares

My paternal grandfather was at Gallipoli and on the Western front.

My paternal grandfather was at Gallipoli and on the Western front.

My great uncle Charlie was also at both theatres, in his case the Somme for part of it. I will try to remember to photograph a few pages of his war diary when I go to visit my sister who has it.

Gallipoli was his first deployment and he writes of the rumours of them going there from Egypt leading up to the landing. Never liked to talk much about his experiences, but would say that it was horrible and there was no glory to be had there.

I thought that was a completely fair tackle. He wasn't held, ref didn't say held. Ref blew the penalty because it looked bad, but there was nothing wrong with it.
