You're hypothesising here simply because you don't like Taylor.
I have a high regard for Cleary both as a coach and as a human being. A smart operator who presents and speaks very well. He also appears to have good way with the players and is the type of figure who would attract good players to the Club. Supporters of the Eagles and Roosters have very good things to say about Cleary. The same cannot be said of Taylor.
What are your thoughts of Phil Gould?
He reckons Cleary can't coach.
That is not true as you have already been informed. I believe Greg Alexander suggested that Gould thought Cleary could not get anymore from the current squad of players after 4 years. Also that after 4 years and all the injuries, he was tired.
yeah thats crap for sure !
The powers that be at penrith really believed, the toll of injuries, some of the dramas and pressures at the club meant it was time for a change.
Simply put, Cleary was mentally exhausted and fatigued.
in the state - no one could expect him to manage, lead and inspire his players.
And at this level, thats actually what its about.
teams have specialists coaches for the nitty gritty.
Johns at Manly for eg
As for JT, like i have said many many times,
im not doubting his footy brain.
I believe he could contribute quite well in a position as per his role at the roosters.
and from all reports - he did do a good job at the roosters.
but head coach - thats not a job everyone can do.
thats a particular personality type
as the old saying goes….. (something like)
all good soldiers do not make good captains.
