I'm too lazy to read through this thread so what exactly is the gist of it? Normal forum BS or something of substance?

Well I'm sure that comment will have people falling over themselves to update you!

TL😀R -

Apparently Phil Gould thinks Tim Grant is a done deal at the Tigers - which holds some serious clout as he is probably still paying a portion of Tim Grants salary, and would have to green light any such move as well as the Rabbitohs.

I think Tim would be an ok by at a low pricefor 2-3 years, he was smashing it back in 2011 and even got a Nsw call up so he has it in him to be a great player.

There is apparently a dispute between the the Rabbitohs and Tigers because of the money asked by the the Rabbitohs are asking for to much.

The club needs to have some morals, so its a BIG NO to any players on Sam Ayoub"s book!

Lot of WT's players already on his books Watto

They can go… We will probably save plenty on overpayed employees!

Damn ….so I guess Thurston to the Wests Tigers is never going to happen...

I thought it was David Warner to the tigers in a switch with Nick Kyrgios.

Nup… Dont need any of Ayoub's cattle.

This club needs management to step up and make the tough decisions. Maybe other clubs will follow suit moving forward and take the power away from the scum bag player managers extorting football clubs!

There are that many that you and Geo will need to come out of retirement , even if its only to play NSW Cup

No surprises there and i'm kind of glad this is the case. Rabbits will want us to pay as much as possible, but we're playing hardball to get him at what we think is a fair price. Good to see us not simply bow down to others clubs, and cave-in to panic buys.

How much do they want to get rid of him is the question? And are there any other clubs interested in him enough to offer more than us?

He would be an ok addition, but nothing amazing and should be paid accordingly. If we start paying overs on extended contracts for inconsistent players then we'll find ourselves in the same mess we're trying to get out of!

Moley covering his bets.
He's been saying for a while that the deal is finalised and Tigers just haven't announced it yet.

Rabbitohs may re-consider Tigers offer if they go after Copley given they were keen on Roberts. They may have to move quickly to ensure that Copley is not snapped up by another club which could result in the Tigers getting Grant at the right price!

Gould also mentioned that Penrith would be paying a bit of Grant's salary in 2016.

Sorry @king sirro - I was referring to this - The fact that Penriff are paying some of the salary of Grant.

Nah my fault mate. At first I was confused and didn't think Grant would be being paid by 3 clubs, but turns out that could be the case. Rugby League really has gone mad

I have a feeling that when Todd Payten came to us he was being paid by both Roosters and Canberra.

Unless the Rabbitohs are paying most of Grants contract, I'm really not feeling this potential Grant signing. He's done bugger all for years. Although there's not much out there off contract or perhaps looking to be moved on so I understand why he's a target for us.

I know we're in dire need of a big body with some experience to shadow these young guys in and Grant has always been known to be a very good trainer but I just don't see what Grant has that Galloway didn't. So again unless Souths are paying the majority what's the point?

Grant on a long term deal could be a disaster.

Sure, Grant has a bit of agro and his stats are ok, but he isn't the same guy who knocked Petero over once.

I'm probably gunna get hammered for this but I reckon throw Mason a lifeline on a one year deal. IMO he'd bring a lot more to the table. We pay diddly squat to get him, he's done more than Grant ever did, he's got a personality so we'd see the players smiling for once, plenty of mongrel and realistically hasn't been in bad form over the
last few years. Then reassess with more money in the bank when players are off contract next year….KLEMMER anyone?

Mason really isn't as bad of a bloke as many make him out to be and I think we made a mistake not signing him a few years back.

I agree we made a mistake not signing him a few years ago. I think I recall a few players saying it would be good, Farah was one, but many members threw a hissy fit, mainly on social media, threatening to not renew memberships. I think sponsors were a little worried so the club didn't go through with it. Mason actually played well at Newcastle after that and was talked up for a State of Origin spot by some. But I think now, at 35, it would be an even greater risk to sign him. Fox seems to be pushing his barrow a little but then again he is an employee of theirs and they'd like his public profile out there in the nitty gritty of the NRL.

Yeah because Willie went to the

Roosters and they got the spoon
Cowboys and they got the spoon
Knights and they went from 4th to 13th and then fell further after he left to last
Went to Manly and they missed the finals for the first time in 10 years

He is the worst influence you can get on a club

I think the title of this thread should of been '…..big sighing' because that is all that it has been so far. Tim Grant or no Tim Grant- he is hardly a big signing with the form he has shown in the last couple of seasons.
