Russell Packer - OFFICIAL..

I don't.

Packer and Matulino for Woods and Ava is an upgrade at best. Sideways at worst. JJ, Tatola et al will be a year more developed too.

Focus now needs to turn to the fullback situation.

Packer is what we need. Our forwards spend more time on their hair do's then playing footy. We needed a seething scumbag villian. As long as he is only let out of his cage on game days we should be good.

Alioai, Alex twal, mautilino, packer (if confirmed), tatola, jj. Prop rotation is looking good. Now a goal kicking winger and a fullback to get on the bus.

That rotation looks inexperienced and weak to me

Matulino at his peak played 58 minutes per game and Packer this year 47\. You need three top line props in the team not factoring in injuries. Can Sue and Aloai provide the impact for 60 minutes between them? I think they can but we need another experienced prop to cover injuries. Tagatese would be low cost but would offer a lot.

Look at the teams with the best packs, they have the best depth. And thats where we'll find forwards to sign, though I'd love pick up a super league forward to complete our pack for next year.

The way I see this playing out. Is Dugan signs with Cronulla then packer will stay. I hope I am wrong. We need Dugan to stay at dragons to get packer

I can't see the Dragons letting go of an origin level fullback to keep a front rower when they have Vaughn, AhMau, Debellin, Sims under contract. He's overpriced but fullback is important. Sharks are not serious it's a play to stir drama before this weeks game.

Not just that, is there necessarily a correlation between money they have for Dugan and for Packer? You don't necessarily plow all your money into another player if one goes, especially if not the same positions. You put a value on a player and try to get him close to as possible, but there is a limit.

I find the talk about Dugan to the Sharks hard to believe. Fullback is one position the Sharks don't need to fill. Holmes has made it clear he wants to be a fullback and is a pretty handy one too. I also suspect that they will re-sign Barba on his return.

I think we'll sign the core guys then keep some cap to get some of the subsidised guys falling out from cap mismanagement. Smart approach.

We could also do worse than resigning grant on a minimal contract for nsw cup depth.

This is a very good signing if true isn't it. His ability to get a quick play the ball will be just as important as the much needed toughness he brings. I was amazed at how quick he plays the ball.

So if all the reports are true matulino and Packer for Sharon woods…definitely a win for the tiges

Either of them are better than Woods..both of them for Woods money is doubly good….. no regrets

Instead of chastising Woods signs we should make up signs thanking him for leaving...

Tigerap you are wrong.Woods may be a total drop kick but as a prop he is well ahead of those 2

We do need another prop in the rotation, more an impact style type IMO.

I also think backrow depth is weak outside the starters as well.

Side note we need to keep in mind Sue, Grant etc aren't signed yet.

This is what I think as well.. you can not sign a championship side in 3 months ,there will be plenty of good playing talent around over the next 6 months on offer . Keeping the powder dry then pick them off when THEY are desperate ,this club has turned the corner good times ahead!
Want confirmation of Paker before commenting plenty of FAKE news out there.

Sue is signed beyond this year.

Sue is signed till the end of 2018 and Tim Grant has a option in his favour for next year

That's probably because he hasn't put Sue in there, who will be our 3rd/4th prop. Matulino, Packer, Sue, Felise would be fine.

Another prop shouldn't be our next priority now but if we've got some cash left after improving the back line and getting a strike second rower (if possible) it'd be good to go after a Paasi or Ofahengaue - a decent 3rd/4th prop with some impact.

One thing I think we need to keep in mind is that with all this new blood coming in, it will take time for them to gel on the park. I remember a few years ago Souths signed all these gun players and were absolute stink on the park. It will be improved, hopefully deep finals run improved, but it will take time to settle and for players to learn combos.
