Sack him Now

I'm 98% sure that JT actually forgets about his bench. He has the first one or two planned out to the minute, but once they're done he gets so absorbed in his own tactics/rear end that he pays no attention to it. I don't see any other way to explain Ava not getting any minutes early in the year, Lodge and Santi playing all of 15 minutes each coming on 50 minutes in and then not bringing Woods back til the 68th.
Luckily (and I use that term loosely) Simona got injured and reminded him that big Marty was sitting on the pine.
Potter admittedly had the luxury of Taupau/Gavet/Ava/Sue, but he used the bench to it's potential. Lodge has game breaking ability, we've seen Ava's impact in recent weeks, and Santi doesn't exactly offer much in a 15 minute stint. He either needs to adjust his rotation to maximize each player's input or adjust his bench to suit his tactics.

Unless there is a gaping big clause in the contract, ala poor performance/minimum win/loss ratio nets you zero payout with immediate effect, then I doubt he's going anywhere. We've already been burnt by Sheens' departure and doubt the board would be looking to part with the dirty moth balls lying in the WT purse again.

I was thinking that we couldn't afford to get rid of JT, but like most didn't think that we could afford to.
But surely there would be KPI's that would cover performance for him to meet.
If there isn't , then this Board and our recently departed CEO must be just as incompetent as our old administration
If there is, by the end of this year if things keep going the way that they are now , if he isn't below those KPIs, then they must have been incredibly low.
If (as he should be) he is below those indicators there should be a way to terminate him( I mean that in the nicest possible way, of course)
Would be interesting to get a look at the contract.
I'll bet that if there's no KPIs this Board will not fall in that hole again. Then again maybe they still would.. Is it just me or has anyone noticed that Marina has gone silent lately

God!. So many would be coaches, CE0'S, selectors, trainers etc etc. on this subject. Taylor is going nowhere. If you cannot accept that then I suggest that you go elsewhere.

Check out the "pick your team against Parra" heading. No fewer than 18 different team selections. Which one is right? Which one is crap?

Everyone has different ideas about which player should be selected. Who says that any one of these teams would do any better than the one official team??

Taylor will be here for awhile yet. So get used to it and stop banging on about something that will not be happening.

Moderators, if possible can all these threads / topics about Jason Taylor be merged into one.
1\. Who are you going to replace Taylor with
2\. Sack him now
3\. Taylor losing the room
4\. Result's don't matter
thanks

I cant believe that after such a short time as a coach that people are calling for Taylors head.

If we won two more games, we would almost be in the eight and you woukdnt hear this dribble.

We have some significant injuries and many players playing busted. We have obviously something going on in management with Mayers recent sudden disappearance. Taylor essentially inherited a shit fight. The whole organisation at the end of last year was a complete cluster-f@#$.

Im not happy about our current position at all.

I, like everyone else would like to see more games like the rabbitohs and less like manly.

But sacking the coach half way into the first season….really.

The Tigers need to consider sacking Jason Taylor
James Preston Roar Pro - By James Preston, 29 Jun 2015 James Preston is a Roar Pro
I have written several times since Taylor’s appointment last year that he is not the right man to lead the Wests Tigers into a golden new age.
I am acutely aware that as a club the Tigers do need stability and on the surface the last thing they need is a fourth coach in five seasons. But more importantly there is no point persisting with a coach for a further two years simply for the sake of stability.
The Tigers need to admit that they got it wrong and start again. The coaching direction offered to this young group of players over the next 24 months is going to be pivotal to how their careers progress in the long run and that is too important to place into the wrong hands.
For months now Taylor has been skating on thin ice but Sunday’s match against the Panthers must surely be the breaking point for many fans. The game highlighted that Taylor is not an NRL standard coach.
The decision to place a lumbering inexperienced second rower in the form of Kyle Lovett into the centres as cover for the injured Tim Simona, and then watch for 50 minutes as Dean Whare and David Simmons run rampant around him, was completely and utterly inept.
No less than four tries were scored through Lovett’s avenue during his tenure in the centres, including a hat trick to Simmons as time and again Lovett was out paced and poorly positioned.
In isolation that sounds like a personal problem for Lovett, but the key factor here is that playing in this side – the whole 80 minutes for that matter – was former Australian Test left centre Chris Lawrence.
Taylor, in his infinite wisdom, decided that playing a representative centre in a role that he has filled for nine previous seasons was somehow not an option. His excuse in the press conference after the game was just laughable.
"Chris has been doing so well at second row, we felt we had to keep him there as he has just gotten comfortable,” he said.
There are three big problems with this explanation.
Firstly, as mentioned Lawrence is a representative centre, Lovett is a fringe first grade second rower and has been shifted savagely out of position to cover for Simona. One would imagine it to be an uncomfortable situation for Lovett, but no matter because Lawrence was “comfortable”. OK than.
Secondly, Taylor has continuously hammered home his philosophy about defence being his key focus. Simona left the field in the 21st minute. In the 23rd minute the Panthers offered their first left-to-right back line shift of the afternoon – Whare stood up Lovett, squeezed between him and Pat Richards, and popped a ball to Simmons who then found Peter Wallace on the inside for a try.
Two minutes is all it took to prove that there was going to be serious problems with the Tigers’ defensive structure if Lovett remained at left centre. Anyone with half a brain could see that.
Thirdly, the primary role of a coach is to offer a tactical approach by analysing the game in front of them and making changes were necessary in order to attain a winning result. Taylor took 24 points and 51 minutes to identify this issue.
By this point in time the game was gone.
The fact that during his press conference he stated: “people are going to blame that decision for the loss, that is not why we lost” actually serves the exact contradictory purpose. He has self-assigned guilt in the most cowardly of ways.
Being a poor coach is one thing, but not being able to own up to your mistakes when offered the opportunity is a whole other thing. It highlights the lack of leadership Taylor exhibits.
A man with no accountability is not one who can be followed.
Now the reason I am fixating upon the Lovett issue in this article is because it so poignantly highlights Taylor’s deficiencies as a first grade coach. Every single commentator on Channel Nine and the 2GB radio broadcast pointed out several times how problematic this positional decision was.
A quick scroll through Facebook informs me that 99 per cent of the armchair coaches would create more confidence in their decisions than Taylor.
I will again iterate, the key role of a coach on match day is to assess the current climate of the game and make changes accordingly.
It is again worth mentioning that his use of the interchange bench has bordered on criminal by consistently removing Aaron Woods and Martin Taupau (and often also Keith Galloway) from the field all at the same time. He has watched every week as his team lose the ascendancy and the game in the ensuing 20-minute rotation.
Taylor has strangled the life out of this team by turning potentially the most exciting roster in the competition into a boring ineffectual slug fest. Even their captain who bleeds black and gold seems as inspired as a Nickelback song.
The Lovett issue ultimately acts as the straw that broke the camel’s back. Forget rehearsed plays, mental preparation, culture building or improving the Wests Tigers from a brand standpoint, the man presently at the helm fails to even get the fundamentals right. Without a foundation it is impossible to build.

Says it all !!!!

As I said in a previous post. If the club hasn't set KPIs in his contract after what's gone on here before then they should be sacked too.
I have agreed with those who have said that we can't afford to( sack him( despite thinking that he's out of his depth .)
But the more I think about it, there would have to be something in his contract, about his performance.
If not then the board is responsible for whatever damage he does to the club over the next two years, and the NRL has the power on the board.
If this season is repeated next year, we are toast.

When youve lost to an out of form Parramatta team, coming last on the ladder, the fans are frustrated and dissapointed and the coach talks up the loss i would call that being out of touch and out of ideas.

A Taylor quote from after the game -

“We are all working really hard to turn this club around because we’ve been a long way off for a lot of years,” Taylor admitted.

“The performance tonight is all positive and I said it during the week I am really excited about the future for the club.”

He tries to make out previous teams were worse off than his. Calls a scrappy loss against a struggling team a positive, fails to hold anyone accountable for poor performance. Sets the tone with the media that we dont care if we win,

**The club was in a stronger position under a struggling Sheens, Potter laid the platform for the next phase, then this guy comes in all talk, all cockiness, all slagging off the previous coaches but as of right now hasnt achieved anything he has promised and has us coming dead last**.

This club is drowning and headed for extinction or relocation under this myth of a coach. The time to act is now.

TITG,I understand your frustration,I to have had my doubts in regards to his coaching style, however, last night wasn't that bad with the players we had to put into the team because of Woods,Farah,Nofo,Simona and Sirro all out of the team…here at the WTs forum we can be a fickle lot, especially when we lose, but we have always given time and have had patients,it's part of our demeanour ....let's give Taylor his chance at turning this club around,he has better opportunity than Pots was given and a hell of a lot less injuries continually... 3 years..that's what he has got...after that, and with no improvement or recruiting, then the whole club must be looked at,from Admin through to playing group....

Things always get worse before they can get better....I will afford him the time to put his money where his mouth is....

Youre entitled to your opinion TT but the lack of accountability throughout this club has got to stop.

He has had his chance.

Potter got two years and I think Taylor deserves two years, you just can not keep flicking coaches every year and expect things to change. Our results are directly related to our bottom line, fix the bank balance and the team will improve, but with no money we are going nowhere

No Farah, Woods, Nofo, Simona, Brooks, Sironen, and others….

And Taylor has NEVER said this year we would be doing big things.

It is what it is. A changing culture and for the better.

I'm as p###ed off as everyone else, but fairs fair. Taylor is not looking for excuses and has said repeatedly that this is where he expected us to be.

We have had the players in past season and delivered nothing on many occasions. Think back, Taylor is right. Is he a better coach? Only time will tell.

TITG,yes accountability has been missing for quite awhile,I agree, however with the new board and some time, things will eventually turn around and I really think this is what Taylor and the Admin are striving for..look what happened to MAYER ..this was probably the start of some accountability, whether we liked GM or not, this new board under the guidance of the NRL are working toward making this club a hell of a lot better than the rabble it used to be…only time will tell if old TT has hit the nail on the head....

All well and good to want the coach gone, but the chances of it happening? We couldn't afford it anyway.

It's ok to say 'fix the bank balance' , but who'd want to come here ??

was a solid performance, this forum cant see much more than the scoreboard.

however, our season is essentially over now i think. unless we go through some cowboys-esque run to the finals we wont be finishing in the 8.

we had a few games we could have turned it around, the souths game obviously a standout. even beating penrith and then the eels would have put us in outside chance to snag a finals berth.

but right now, we can aim to finish outside the bottom 4 realistically. it was a better performance this week compared to last however, a LOT better.

I have no doubt that is what they are trying to achieve. Its admirable and needed however Taylor has done nothing to suggest he is the man to bring this to the club.

Ok some of you have bought and invested in his talk, so did i but ive seen through it. Its cracked and starting to unravel.

He is a myth.
