Sam Mclntyre

As others have mentioned, not really expecting much here.

Just shows how weak our 2nd row stocks are and unfortunately how much players like Lawrence and McQueen have regressed.

I've written previously you give him a. chance, he just might grab it and move to the next level. He has an ability. to get himself into. space and is mobile. Whether our backs are. sufficiently alert to this will have to. be seen.

Hope he goes well but can’t shake the feeling Madge is giving all these young guys a run to see how they handle it and if they are worthy of keeping in the squad

Yep. Some of our supposed senior talent on high $$ haven't exactly been cutting it for the last couple of years, so why not give some youth a shot. Not every junior player will set the world on fire m, but theres only one way to find out. The comp is still and always will be close and a win or 2 puts you right back in the 8. Id also be taking a chance on trailing some youth in the backs to replace our weaknesses there (Jennings and Mbye) or some sort of shuffling the decks.

I think a few of the doubters could be surprised how McIntyre goes. Although I doubt he will get much game time bar injury. I saw him in a trial early this year and he looked mobile and a high work rate

Seriously some people just want to complain at everything.

Madge is giving the kids a go, he is actually trying something and seeing what they are made of. It’s important to then make a call if they stay or leave.

I like what he is doing atm with the kids.

That is only worth doing if you are writing off this season. If everyone is accepting of that then no harm in giving the kids a go.

The other downside is that you can't make any judgment on Madge as a coach while our side is full of kids. If these ones are no good and we need to turn over the roster, at what point does Madge become accountable? Next year the replacements will be too young and in need of experience. Good way to either get yourself sacked or aim for an extension without any results to justify it.

No it isn’t. That’s a myth with our roster and myth in using youth.

You can’t tell me playing those reserves with more first grade experience will get us more wins.

If the kids stand up and are good enough then results go our way with a higher rate than our current tried and tested mob are doing. If they don’t they won’t get found out anymore than our current mob are.

He did look good in the trial you’re right

Glad this season is just a bunch of trial games.

Only trouble is, someone forgot to tell the other 15 teams.

Trying different players to get the strongest possible team is only worth it if you’re writing off the season? None of the bench forwards have impressed so why not try McIntyre and see if he’s good enough? Maybe he kills it and our team benefits for the whole year. Your logic makes no sense.

And if he's a dud, and causes our defeat.....?

He is solid at best.....Keep our expectations in check with this guy...he is not a Kickau type player....

One player won’t cause our defeat unless he drops the ball a few times gifting cowboys some tries. Most likely he’ll play about 15 mins.

Give the young guy a chance to show what he has to offer. The club has given a lot of chance to so many "sus " senior first graders who never really shone but were continuously selected in first grade

I thought he looked better in CCup than Seyfath did last season. If he’s trained as well as they say he has he’ll go ok

Wasn't it the Magpies which gave no names an opportunity because they thought a gem might be found and the Club couldn't. compete with wealthier clubs in the player market?

Your right he is not a man made mountain that has speed and skill, but 95% of backrowers in the NRL don’t have those skills. Cordner who I rate close to the best forward in the comp is not a wrecking ball, he just hits hard in both D and A and can catch a ball in traffic and run great lines. Okay McIntyre is way off that level but you never never know to you given them a chance
