SEAN MEANEY

He'd be a solid First Grader…..

...

....In the ESL.

I think he needs a new manager personally - a player of such alarming mediocrity who has played a staggering number of NSW cup games should be making a much more comfortable living tearing up the ESL.

Examples include Rhys Hanbury, Adrian Purtell, and Daniel Holdsworth.

I wonder why guys make comments like this, maybe their just bored or have some need to inflate their ego at the expense of someone elses.

As far as I can see Meaney has given a good show of himself when called upon ( usually in less than favourable situations)

Your missing my point - it's certainly not an ego stroke. The point is he's not the best player in the team - and his skillset could be better utilised elsewhere.

Having said that the other three players I listed off were bog average in First Grade in the NRL - I'm not stroking my ego at someones expense there - I'm stating facts,

Geez we're being a bit rough on Meaney. Granted his two games this season were at best average but he is what he is. I don't think anyone would've expected him to set the world on fire. He'd probably admit his opportunities have and will remain slim. As long as he's enjoying his football.

Meaney is ok. He's just a footy player. A good one, not a great one. Takes a lot to train and bust your arse week end week out when your not a regular First Grader. Most here couldn't handle it.

I used to be in a band with a guy who played alongside the likes of Luke Burt, Mark O'Meley and Andrew Ryan for NSW Under 17s. Had all the talent in the world, got offers from the Roosters and Tigers while in school but just couldn't be arsed training. He played Centre. Turned out he was much happier pulling cones in Campbelltown.

Sounds like a couple of mates of mine.

Does his job, a good leader within the club and really well respected by the other players.

All you can ask for really.

He is doing what he loves and does the job when required.

Better option then Moltzen for much, much less coin. As such exactly the kind of player a club needs. For too long Wests Tigers have paid hacks with less talent then Meaney to occupy a spot and hang out with their mates

Couldn't agree more. I'd have him over Moltzen easily.

Agreed , always puts his body on the line & tough as nails …..I would keep Sean for the savings ...Don't forget the team has 100% win rate with Sean playing this year.

The club could pay Meaney in crisp chips and he would turn up for the Tigers every week.

Not the greatest talent and a professional reserve grader but shows more heart then most first graders ever will week in, week out.
Guys like him are great value to have around the club.

happens quite a bit.

THANK GOD someone made mention of Moltzen in this thread. Him not going to the Dragons for me is arguably the biggest mistake of the Sheens era. I cannot stand him. I put him in the class of fitzhenry….i have so many memories of fitzhenry growing up particuarly one game in 2004/2005 against canberra where marshall chalk was killing everyone whilst fitzhenry dropped the ball about 4 times and as many missed tackles. nightmare. Moltzen is the new fitzhenry, would be the first player id sell to free up cap money.

IMO meaney deserves a contract extension unless there is a plan to bring kurtis rowe up to nsw cup. Meaney's last match was quite an unhappy one but he is a solid player who gives his all and plays for a minimum price. A truly valuable player to this club or any other - reminscent of mitch brown, though brown was much more skillfull although meaney did provide a wonderful try assist a few weeks ago with a nice pass. I think he has done well by and large
