Share Trading ASX - Stock Tips and Discussion

Yes and it should be closer to $2500. But for decades it's a very relatively illiquid market that the state's like to keep a lid on showcasing their dollar. Despite this I'm looking forward to possibly 3000 soon. But timing uncertain.

I really like all commodities especially oil, coal metals including grains.

The cold war coming up which I alluded too in the other thread is a net positive for Australia. Look for 88c for our dollar soon too.

Been busy with this lately. Seem like a 70s scenario finance wise.

Lime them.

Just got to keep an eye the AUD. Got caught once back around 2003 with NCM when it was $5. Gold was rising but so too AUD and it didn't move enough. Got some coins circa 2003. So gotta keep an eye on AUD gold price unless of course their operations are in third countries that are safe sanctions wise.

I thinkthe U.S. may go after crypto now using the excusethat Russia will skirt sanctions but it's really about U.S. dollar primacy.
Very positive for gold

Like South 32. Bought in around 7 years ago for $1.50 and been holding and adding to that since. Seen some good returns but I only have a smaller holding. Some of their primary materials like manganese will surely continue to become more highly sought after over time. Seems like a solid long term hold.

A couple of months ago I was scrolling through the market sensitive announcements and bingo! This nickel miner declares a huge find, just 35klm from where Poseidon was heading from $0.80 to $300 back in the 80’s. So I thought, gotta have some! So far it’s up over 200% . The largest known deposit of nickel cobalt in the world. More recently got the backing of our pm and government.

Nice find! Are you on a few in the materials sector?

Yeh, a little over my weighting in materials and energy, but I’ll fix that after the election by increasing financials. Expecting RBA to make a move with monetary policy.
I'm expecting interest rates to be many percent higher in coming years with superpower economicblocks forming and globalization in retreat and with further scaling back on U.S. dollar trade and it's diminished status as reserve currency.

Long commodities and can see AUD in parity in a couple of years.

yeah S32 is my biggest holding, have had them ever since the demerger and added quite a bit since then.

It will be interesting if U.S. oil majors make a play on WPL and STO in coming months for "security reasons ".

Another thing we have to navigate here is if there are increasing sanctions on China and how that impacts our LNG and iron ore exports as the globe is re aligned.

Certainly, I felt surprised that our oil majors didn't replicate the performance of U.S. majors before the war so I wonder if there will be takeovers.

If you’re keen to diversify into some other spaces, Brainchip is worth a look. It’s a tech/AI company. They’ve really made some strides towards commercialising and marketing their product (an AI chip and accompanying board). I think they look like good value at the moment. Saw a huge peak at over $2 recently on the back of Mercedes working with them to implement their technology in an electric concept car. However they have come right back down to just under $1 (they were just very overvalued by the market imo on the back of that news). I would expect them to see some huge growth over the next few years.

I’ll keep an eye on it. Been looking at the kiwi company Spark, especially since they headhunted WBC’s head of IT communications. Strong dividends. Another is Altium an IT software company makes essential chips for computers. I’ve got a spread across half the sectors, don’t want to get too indexed, if you know what I mean.

Out of curiosity moreso than anything else? What are your thoughts on a smart phone app that recognises a distinctive COVID cough? How accurate is it? It must have a reasonable level of accuracy if Pfizer has offered them $100m? Is this just big pharma closing down a startup? Any thoughts? RAP.AX trading at $0.115.

I thought it was a bit of a novelty but from all reports (made it into mainstream media) it's very effective at detection, and very accurate. I think it can analyse the cause of a range of coughs too, not just COVID. Pfizer would be more interested in owning the IP for the technology behind it, and probably hope to apply it in some future products maybe.

I was originally sceptical after just finished watching a Netflix Drama biographical “the dropout”. Based on the ABC investigation into the Elizabeth Holmes story. And how she became America’s youngest female billionaire very quickly from a similar healthcare product. Pfizer was very interested in her invention.

Oh yeah, that was insane. I have no idea how she hoodwinked so many high profile individuals and companies. Might have to check that show out, sounds good!

This cough detection system from memory is more of a consumer facing product, so doesn’t have a lot to hide behind. I think it’s been independently verified too, but I’ll do some further reading on it. I meant to look into further after hearing about it.
