I think I might be the only Pascoe supporter on the planet, But as the CEO to get over 20,000 members at arguably the most unsuccessful club(decade no finals) in the NRL, and to be 1 of only 4 clubs to consistently make a profit at the end of each financial year from their own revenue. Salary cap management is poor but also different and is influenced by more departments at the club eg recruitment. Every year we have exceedingly strong sponsors, some clubs start the year without a primary sponsor. But to get a 70 million dollar center of excellence at the complete expense of state and local government, is some serious political lobbying, Lee H would also been on that one. How do we get all of those free to air games, other than Brisbane on Fridays, I think we get line share of what successful teams get on 9/gem.

Actually the West Tigers put at least $10m of their money into the project

Also, please remember this is just not a COE for the Tigers. It has multiple uses from indoor netball/basketball courts, community centre, creche, West Harbour rugby, a local soccer team. So the local and State govt have provide probably 1/2 of the new Concord complex to other sports and community requirements

And all of that just happened by itself?

Don't get me wrong the Tigers were the major driver for this to happen but there were many other groups assisting this push for the upgrade. You may not realise this but West Harbour rugby have the lease on Concord oval and do for another 10 years. They were also heavily involved in the design for the new stadium

What Stadium?

There is a very small ground included in the build, seat about 2000 from memory.

I think it has seating for around 3,000 plus standing room on the hills. Capacity around 5,000

I always looked at Wests RU as like a cousin to Wests Magpies, growing up in Ashfield as a Wests Jnr.... Many many players criss crossed between the two

And even Wests Tigers - Loti Tiquiri and if you remember Taqele Naiyravoro played for both clubs

Isn't one of the current Wallaby props a WT's junior as well

Will Skelton, who's plays 2nd row played, for Wentworthville Magpies

None of the others played League

Thoughts his initials were AA

Alittatoa something like that ???

Thats Allan Alaatola - Played for West Harbour rugby
Trinity boy never played League

Cool ...thanks for that

Used to enjoy watching Union ...couldn't pay me to watch now ....

I rarely watch Super Rugby and only Australia test matches
But I love Shute shield - the atmosphere is like going back to 70s League, a real tribal feel about it. Heaps of tries and the odd punch up as well

I love West Harbour too.
And the Shute Shield is light years better (for me) than Super Rugby and even Internationals.
It all begins and ends with grassroots, old fashioned district footy, colts and grade - we have seemingly lost that progression up the grades in rugby league from the fans perspective.

Interesting what Sheens said about he's role changed dramatically sounded like a pretty fluffy ambassador role at first

To develop the kids and offer support to the coaches if they want it. Almost word for word how Pascoe described his role in announcing the appointment.
If the CEO knew what his job was back in June, then why be so vague?

Yes we had a large number of Woodies players move to Wests this year, maybe 25 or more maybe because of this move to Catterson Reserve. TJ is a great oval but very poor facilities, dressing room were the worst of any ground only surpassed by Wollahara Oval

I wasnt aware of that. Fred Caterson is my old stomping ground, my Dad was on the Committee that built it, carved out of the bush. I live 5 mins away. A shock that the Woodies are moving there.

Sounds like it. I just watched the full podcast. It provides some good insight into Sheens early career and his later role as Australian coach. Fast forward to the last 4 minutes if you just wanna hear the Wests Tigers related info.

Agree mate, sounds very switched on still.

One thing I’ve noticed Sheens arrival the Josh Hodgson possible signing ramped up and the Luke Brooks to Newy has done a 180 in the media..
