Should Pascoe stand down if the players walk?

I refuse to call them the big 4\. As it stands Tedesco and Woods are the only ones who have shown they are worth keeping this year. But i digress.

I said in January that it was going to take one hell of a stuff up from there if the club didn't tie these guys up. We're almost in April now, Pascoe has given them a deadline (never a good sign) and now the Dogs rumour is gaining monentum. Did Pascoe catch wind of the Dogs deals and demand an answer either way? If talks were going well why would he issue an ultimatum?

So should he fall on his sword if we are unable to retain who we want? Idk about anyone else but i would have zero confidence in him going forward given the players mantra has always been "stick together". Tedesco has even called for them to not think about money. How could our club possibly stuff these negotiations up?

We are financially in a strong recruiting position. We are performing well off the field. We need a head coach to support recruitment efforts. Taylor isn't the guy. When faced with losing these guys, it dawns on me that Tedesco is the only one that matters. I couldn't care less about the others if it meant retaining him. As i said last night. He is the main artery of this team. He's the type of player you build a club around. The club has to do everything short of holding him at gunpoint to ensure he stays. That's how important he is.

I have said all along i believe what will keep our best players is if they feel we can win a premiership here.As far as i can tell Pascoe is doing well, even if our best players go i cant fault him i will however critisize him if he breaks our bank to keep them

People quite rightly complain that the players are wielding too much power, that there's a boys club, etc.
Pascoe is not being rushed into signing a coach just to appease these players - and nor should he. The coaching role is absolutely crucial to get right. If that doesn't fit the players agenda then so be it.
We can't have it both ways. Either we appoint the coach these players want, or we appoint the best coach for the job. (Hopefully they're one and the same).
I want this club to be here long after these particular players have moved on. The choices the club makes now re the coaching staff is critically important in getting this club into a strong position once and for all.
Let the players leave if they are too impatient to let this process unfold. If they do, to me it shows it is primarily about the money.
I mean, really, these guys are going to be paid a motza no matter where they end up playing. So, if they really want to stick tight and want to stay at the club, then surely a few more days/weeks shouldn't matter.
I totally support the management in running this club. We have had far too much of the players influencing management decisions. It stops now. And by the look of it, Pascoe is staying strong.

Ha, you abandoned the SS Taylor pretty quickly when it hit an iceberg (lettuce). You'll find other supporters are made of sterner stuff and understand Pascoe is one of our assets. We are on the cusp of landing a leading coach who has a history of rebuilding clubs. I am looking forward to the future and even if all four players leave (which I doubt they will), Pascoe has the smarts to position the club well for the future.

The tigers need some stability… I'm sick of shuffling through CEOs every 2 years. Priorities for Pascoe - sign cleary, and re-sign teddy. We'll be in a better place once those 2 steps are done.

I think we all share this frustration. However, I don't think the club or Pascoe are to blame for the delays relating to the big two and the two also rans. They are guilty of something else.

I think everyone has worked out that Moses and Brooks are a work in progress including their manager. Those two will be the losers out of this - each week based on their performances their values have dropped. They would have been better off signing with us or someone else in the preseason.

Teddy and Woods are must for us they represent skill, they are SOO and woods is a Kanga and Teddy may be soon as well. But most importantly those two represent hope for most fans, something we can build a team around.

What concerns me the most is none of them have declared an alligence to the club.

This maybe because their manager has told them not to, as it weakens their negotiating position however, I fear that it may be that they saw how RF their Captian was treated by the board and coach after all his years of service and thought, ok that's what this club represents so we will look after ourselves. I don't have a problem with RF being moved on I just think JT and the board did it poorly. This is what the board is guilty of.

It's not my intention to dilute the thread with RF, but I genuinely think it has had some bearing in the players minds.

Maybe I'm wrong, but money aside, why else wouldn't you commit to a club who has committed to you from the beginning

That is my view, sign Cleary and Teddy and the other 3 can chase the money elsewhere we will still be alright. There are still good players available for next year, we just need a coach to get them onboard.

Sorry mate re Taylor. I know how much it must have killed you that i was quick to move on and look forward seeing as how you made me the poster boy of Taylors fan club for some unknown reason.

I think what many ignore with the ongoing criticism of the players reluctance to sign - like the fans they have had to endure ongoing years of constant drama and incompetent management lots of promises, with very little signs of going forward
They have other options that probably appear to be very tempting and are rightfully looking after their own best interests especially after the clubs handling of the Farah exit.
The clubs reputation has had plenty of hits of late and that must be weighing heavy on them and their potential to reach career goals - and you can guarantee that other clubs are driving that home when trying to tempt them away.
Until a proven coach signs with some potential to attract players to the club I cant blame them for not signing on.It is definitely effecting their performance but that is to be expected and also wont worry opposing clubs that are targeting them.
The coach factor is major. It becomes more apparent why none of them would commit last year when negotiations started, or now when it is still not sorted .
The club has to start to stop yapping about future success and instead do something concrete starting with a proven and respected coach. Otherwise I fear we will lose who we want and end up with a club full of players past their best chasing the dollars to see out their careers.
If Teddy Moses Woods and Brooks still choose to move on well at least we have taken out first step moving forward.

My fear is the tigers have been in negotiations for a long time with teddy,and if he hasnt signed then the reason why he is waiting to see what moses,brooks and Woods do.As he has stated before he wants to play with these guys.If moses/woods/brooks are considering leaving because of better offers than i would imagine teddy would follow suit,

Yeah that's probably a good analogy, if we lose him we won't know what hit us.

I've felt the same recently too, Tedesco is the only signing that really matters, he's the only player there you could call a true star. If the club succeed at nothing else in retention, just keep Tedesco. It should be the number 1 priority.
