Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Also Bula has potential and all but he’s not starting in many other nrl teams. Probably gets a start at the dogs and knights. Hopefully he has a big season for us in 2024
Knights? KP. Dogs, Dragons and Raiders the only teams he'd walk into as a fullback.

I was very pleased this news was announced. I believe he will continue to develop his game with the ball and the high work rate is always welcome. It is not a coincidence when a break is made he is in the vicinity to back up or get to the loose ball in defence. I know it is fashionable to have a go at him but he costs us little and after reading this article he is a fan of Marshall. Let's hope our other local juniors are of the same mind.

He makes my 17 in 2024,
How about you?

Kulikefu Finefuiaki 19 yrs, 190cm, 105kg - Cowboys 2nd row.
Í agree, and the Bronco prop.
Xavier Willison 21 yrs, 198cm, 104 kg 2/08/2002
They're the ones.. plus Bula, Dasilva, the new halves.. as well as the pick of the young crop coming through that kick on.. Large, mason, luilinii ?, makahesi..(spellings rough) and 2026 - 2030 looks pretty good

Would’ve been a fine signing if we had 4/5 spots left in the top 30 but wasting our last spot on Seyfarth is poor roster management for mine. Especially with Staines still unsigned.

I agree with Demps, he makes my 17 in 2024. You would have to think there is more movement at the station to come.

If we could get AFB for 200k more than Klemmer for 2025 would you take it ? Also think luai at 1.3m is a waste of money.. let's put faith in and properly develop the young halves we've got.. spend that money on the best 19-22yr old centre and a backrower.. Bateman and Ipap might be needing a rest by then and our need for an x factor centre is crucial.. there's got to be someone out there. Maybe Iro ?
If we can get AFB for 25 I’m all for it. Bateman might need more so a rest than Ipap if he needs it but not sure who’s on the market really.

Sorry but if he’s in our 17 we’re screwed. He puts his heart in I’ll give him that, but he just can’t produce. I don’t if he’s a prop, back rower or a lock but every time I’ve seen him play he’s just doing nothing. I don’t see him on the bench to cover any of our forwards.

#13 for mine.

Plays a role we've lacked for too long.
Perfect link man, playing like Yeo - but more aggressive.

Pushing Twal and Pole to the bench, into the prop rotation, where they also offer their most impact.

I agree Pole isn’t a 13 he’s a bench Prop I just don’t know if Seyfarth can take on the 13 full time. It is our weakest position in the forward pack.

Plus I think it was pretty evident sheens was past it his game plans had zero structure. Once benji took abit more control things started to improve

2 years in a row our seasons have been over after 3 rounds I’m just hoping we can at least keep the dream alive for most the season
I agree. Sheens seems to rely on no Structure, fast footy and lots of passes.
Which was sad as the team we had, were:
Gritty strong forwards. Not speed demons but strong guys.
Inexperienced/weak back line.

Sheens strategy was totally mismatched to our team. I liked what Des Haslier did when he went to the Bulldogs, he adapted to the team. Sheens did fast footy.

my memory of Des at the dogs, was get every behemoth n turn em into a 1/2 back, win a comp b4 ya get turfed from screwing the salary cap

Do you/does anyone watch the NBA ?

This kid is a freak and he is playing in a league that is miles beyond the level of the NRL. He is 19 and killing it.

We need to pray that Fainu. Galvin and Sullivan come into the league and have real elite level ability.

Yeah I do and he is absolutely smashing it!

Although I'm worried. Victor needs to put muscle mass on quickly, his knees and ankles look like they'll fold like a deck of cards.

Did you watch last year's WC? Luai dragged that Samoan team all the way to the final as the dominant half
Have to agree Luai was very good in that team and no Cleary , and some stats from Panthers say he is also very good with no clearly , panthers offer $ 850 k we should’ve in at $ 1.2 per year 3 year deal with a year 4 option in our favour , I want competition in our team , Sezer is only 1 year so we would have Bud , manly boy and Luai seems good to me , then go out and grab a centre , we have the cattle in the middle with Klemmer , Steph , Pole , Blore , Pappi and Appi

Jayden Sullivan, if he gets his father’s consent, may play his first game for Wests Tigers with a new name.
Known to family and friends as “Bud”, that’s how he wants to be addressed from now on.

“Everyone in my family calls me Bud and then Jayden if I’m in trouble,” he grinned. “Jayden is all right but I always ask the commentators to call me Bud. Personally, I like the name Bud, I want to actually change it to Bud.”
Whatever name you call him, Sullivan is ready to call the shots at the Tigers. At just 22 years of age, and with only 27 NRL appearances, Tigers coach Benji Marshall wants to hand the former Dragons playmaker the keys to the team from his first day of preseason training on Monday.

“Benji just pretty much told me straight up, he just wants me to come and own the team and make my mark,” Sullivan said. “I feel like that’s when I’ll play my best footy, when I have ownership and a bigger responsibility.”
Responsibility is something Sullivan knows a bit about. One of nine siblings, he left school in year eight to work as a scaffolder alongside his father, Jason. The money was good, but those early starts and long hours are a timely reminder of just how good he has it now as a professional footballer.

“I just felt like school wasn’t for me,” he said. “I was a scaffolder, I was waking up at four in the morning going to work, finishing at like three or four in the afternoon and then going to training with SG Ball and Harold Matts.
“I just felt like I didn’t want to work any more, so I was telling Dad I want to take footy seriously. I didn’t want to work 13-, 14-hour days as a 14-,15- or 16-year-old kid. It’s tough, it’s definitely not the life for me.”

The Dragons granted Sullivan a release from his contract to take up a four-year contract with the Tigers. The deal was sealed during a not-so-secret meeting at the club’s Concord base in July, which will likely result in the Western Suburbs Red Devils junior partnering with veteran half Aidan Sezer next season.
The move will shift him away from his family in Port Kembla, but he brings with him a constant reminder of the most influential person in life. Tattooed on his leg is a portrait of his father, whom he has played alongside during Koori knockout tournaments.
“I actually lied to my dad about that tattoo,” Sullivan said. “I said I was at the beach, when it was pouring down rain. He was like, ‘Where are you?’ He kept calling me all day. And I was telling him, ‘I’ll be home soon’.
“I was lying to him and then I was sitting there getting tattooed, getting absolutely demolished. I ended up coming home and my sister was behind me and she was recording and he was about to yell at me because I was lying to him all day.

“I’ve only seen my dad cry out like a handful of times. It was a pretty special moment.”
Sullivan’s closest friends are Dragons youngsters Tyrell Sloan and Talatau Amone. It’s unclear when Amone will next play after he was last month found guilty of a hammer attack on a roofing contractor.

The trio were inseparable coming through the grades and vowed not to drink alcohol, a commitment kept until Sullivan drank a pink of Vodka Cruiser on the Mad Monday that fell just a week before his 21st birthday last year.
“I set a goal a couple of days ago that I won’t drink until Mad Monday comes around again,” Sullivan said. “That’s just because I wanna focus on footy and put all my eggs in one basket and go hard.”

At some point next year, he will face his old club and his long-time friends.
“I hope it’s at WIN Stadium,” Sullivan said. “I hope Sloaney tries to run because I’m going to try to tackle him so hard, we were joking about it the other day. Remember the Morris twins [Brett and Josh Morris] when they pretended they were in a fight? We will do that, but I reckon he will actually hit me. It’s all love. Off the field we’re best mates again.”
After consecutive wooden spoons, little is expected of the Tigers in 2024. They will commence their preseason with a rookie coach and a new halves combination at a time when a club review could result in a radical shake-up of the board and management. However, Sullivan isn’t daunted.
“I like a challenge. Not everything in life is easy,” he said. “Coming into this season we’re starting behind the eight-ball, but we’ve got no expectations. The only thing we gotta prove is to ourselves and where we want to take it. That’s the most exciting thing, we’re gonna create our own legacy. We don’t have to live up to anyone else’s.”

I'm not against signing Luai but if we're giving him 1.2mil will there be money left over for a centre?

Sheens needed a young talented team, aka Penrith 80s, Raiders 89 to 94 Wt 05.

No good with structure.

I suppose what we saw with 3 or 4 weeks when close to full strength was his potential.

Needed a fit firing Brooks and AD and Staines all year plus Bateman in the off season.

Got none.

Madge also needs above average teams with a competitive edge and he'll take them to the next level......like today and probably with the blues.

Cleary was what was needed with the cattle at our ranch..........but..
