Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

This. KPP averages around 110m a game with 92% tackling efficiency. He beats out Seyfarth in nearly every category on a total (DESPITE PLAYING LESS GAMES THIS SEASON) and per game basis. I don’t think Seyfarth has even crossed 100m in a single game this season and has had sub 50m games despite playing 80minutes. That’s not even getting into his piss poor discipline that has cost us dearly many times. It’s a joke he’s even in the team.

Seyfarth has a delusional cult following on here the same way Brooks did despite clearly not having the talent or achievements to justify it. When one of your starting second rowers is averaging 66m a game and hasn’t crossed 100m once, your team is going to have limits.
Symptoms of being such a poor footy team for so long

People hang on to players like Seyfarth because of "effort and commitment" when realistically, he's a good depth player

He’s not Fifita circa 2022 or Olakuatu playing against us … so he’s shit ! That’s the bar .
Never mind the current edge forward is doing a really good job, so much so any team in The nrl would have him in thier 17 right right now , and many people around the game actively speak about this .
But he’s not dynamic and not huge, so he’s shit as well!
Just people with unrealistic standards , and confirmation bias . I mean we all have it … but anyways . With the way the fans talk about KPP I hope he doesn’t come here . He’s on a hiding to nothing . Unless he plays at the level I just mentioned people will bag the shit out of him . He’s already “shit” and “we need to look for better”, so everything he does will be viewed through the lenses of “alright do something , impress me “ .

Seyfarth is a good NRL forward and has incrementally improved over the years. I always enjoy a player who does this to maximise his contribution to the team. It is a team game and there is room in our squad for Seyfarth and KPP if he is recruited. Depth is the key and for the modest contract he is on Seyfarth offers great value. Love his work and when interviewed he is an articulate and likeable young man.

If we did sign kpp I think that he or one of fainu or seyfarth will fill the lock role with twally moving back into the prop rotation
Glad to see others have picked up on KPP's decoy runs at speed out wide.
It must be the coaches instructions.
As for his tackling efficiency, not sure how the count them. Is second or third man in counted as a tackle? Lucas was always 1st man in and KPP some time later.
Is KPP hard to bring down, need help on that question? Didn't notice it in the game I watched.

He has a long legged stride and his pace is deceptive. He is difficult to contain noting how regularly he unloads in traffic for second phase play. He made a brilliant tackle on Fermor last night when he got into a gap and took him one on one. The tackle needed to be made and he took a knock from it but got up and played on. Running of Luai and Galvin he would be a different player.

No doubt he is a great bloke but he just doesn't break the line. He doesn't have the power to run through tackles. He just runs a straight line and gets hammered and driven back every time. He needs to learn to run lines that makes the defence work rather than just stand there and hit him. He has the ability to do it as evidenced by the try he scored against Manly last year. Admittedly the pass from Fainu was exceptional but Seyfarth ran the line that allowed that pass and scored untouched. Unfortunately Galvin with his crossfield running looking for a straight running forward doesn't help.

He's scored a few tries breaking the defensive line right on the goal line. And at the end of the day the coach and his team value his contribution. You will find team mates want to play with Seyfarth and Twal because they are the ultimate team players. Players you can rely upon to make the tackles to be there to intercept a pass or race to score a try in the in-goal out of effort.

I would not be shocked if we signed KPP and Seyfarth went to reserve grade. He's excellent depth but who do you displace from our bench?

He's not versatile enough like Bird to take his spot. Obviously he won't take Tallyns spot, and he has no where near the impact of Fainu or Hunt

Valuable squad player for sure. Wouldn't be starting for any other NRL team
I would think Seyfarth and Bird would be competing for the same bench spot with the other being the 18th man. Which is great for squad depth.

Both cover the backrow with Bird also able to cover the centres and Seyfarth able to cover the front row. It may even change depending on who were are playing and who’s in the 14 jersey.

Either way it’s a good problem to have and not one to be worried about.

KPP from what Ive seen is NO...he would want $600+ and I dont see him much better than Seyfarth who would be on half that salary
Don't let KPP's form at the knights blind you, that whole team is just playing dogshit at the moment.
Even everyone's dream signing Dylan Lucas can't make an impression at the moment, look how poor they were at home last night.

Bring KPP in under Benji's coaching and our improved culture plus a big off season in the weights room and you have a different player, another 5kg of muscle and you have a beast.

Sorry but what a load of rubbish with no substance you just posted. Whole lot of nothing to dispute anything I said and a whole lot of strawmans. No one ever compared Seyfarth to any of those guys nor has anyone compared KPP to those guys but there is no dispute that KPP is a better player than Seyfarth based on both stats and the eye test. I’m sorry if that hurts your feelings.

Is it unrealistic standards to expect a starting second rowers playing full minutes to break 100m at least once over 10 rounds and not give away game changing penalties. Show me one starting second rower averaging 66m over 80 minutes in any top 8 (or frankly any side).

You want to support mediocrity? Go ahead but don’t strawman and make shit up like we expect him to be a Fifita because you’re incapable of arguing against the facts stated against one of your favourites. Team first, not your favourites.

KPP is a much better player then Seyfarth
I'm not a one-eyed Seyfarth fan by any means (far too many crucial errors and penalties in his game), but at least he plays full tilt, full time.
KPP looks the part, but I am yet to see a game where he looks fully engaged and committed. Maybe the structure is wrong for him at Newy, but Lucas plays in the same structure and looks 10x the player KPP is. But as I said, if Benji/Richo think he's a goer I'll trust them

Agree. I think seyfarth is a very useful number 18/19 who plays about ten games a year when injuries or origin strikes.

I like seyfarth as he gives his all and loves the club but he isn’t a starter if we ever want to get into the top four and doesn’t match how we structure our bench.
