Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well if there is not much so-called talent in the Macarthur area why are Souths, storm the ARU out constantly in the area talking to kids?? Do not get this narrative that the pipeline is drying if you spent the money and invested in the area properly then the talent will come through, and the best example of this is Penrith. They have regular training camps in the Bathurst,Orange areas and look at the steady flow of country kids coming through.

He has more value than being a good hooker. He is a clubman that gives his all for the team. That is the culture we want, not a snivelling me first brat.

Cmon …”the me first brat” has said nothing as far as we know ….its a quote from his agent ..

But personally I don’t gaf about whether they are choirboys or not …just win some freaking games for a change

Words may be from agent but he's a conduit for his client - same thing to me.
I couldn't care less whether they are choirboy but it's selfish behaviours that have been one of the causes of the constant failures as a club; both with players and at management and boardroom level.

If there isn't much then imo we are either bad at identifying the talent or we are way too slow at identifying it and grabbing it before other clubs do.
The pathways thing is a bit of a myth. When you go through team rosters, all teams, there's not many genuine juniors in NRL squads. Even Penrith who have the biggest nursery of all. To'o, Tago, Cleary, McLean brothers and Mitch Kenny are about it. Yeo, Martin, Luai and Critta as well but that was an exceptional period. Edwards, all imports. Manly have the 3 turbos, Hopoate and Koula, which is more than most. Dogs I think only have Kiraz. The Broncos and Cowboys have quite a few Queenslanders in their squads but not necessarily local juniors.

There are many reasons why the Club has failed for the past decade and more …selfish behaviours of players wouldn’t be amongst the top 10

Agree to a certain extent, but if we keep it in context understanding how disproportionatly big our catchment is compared to other clubs. Our development has been pretty woeful over the last 7 - 8 years. Hoping that will change. In saying that I totally agree that other clubs are bringing in players from outside and moving them into their systems, which is what we've been doing, which would probarbly account for why our junior nursery isn't pumping players out. Why invest in your juniors when you can direct that money to identify other clubs juniors you want to bring in. Over time though it's proven to be at the detriment of our teams long term success. It may work for other clubs but hasn't for us. We need to rely on our strengths, our nursery's particularly in south West Macarthur are our strength. Just through sheer numbers of juniors coming through.

Long-term it's better we are out of the media. He was bringing way too much attention to us. If we won a game it was because of Galvin. If we lost, Galvin was unsettled and could ask for a release. It was too much.
Agreed I’ve never seen such a media frenzy over a player who hasn’t even really done much in the game yet. I still really can’t understand why Galvin is such a big deal. Was it because Gould was blowing his trumpet touting him as the next big thing? Plenty of other young players way in front of Galvin (like Ethan Strange and young Katoa from the Dolphins for example) and doing much better on the field week to week.

Never said it was top. Just one of many selfish behaviours at differing levels.
Whatever and frequent they are is really irrelevant. All need to be on board.

Most of the selfish behaviour of players I can think of is usually concerning those busting their backside to get out of the joint

Exactly.. his manager did his job and even said talyn wants to stay and loves the club … we really need to show our players some respect and loyalty back IMO

So basically you want to throw away a kid ( local junior) you have developed and touted a few years now, who might be here another 10:years …all to get 2 more years out of a 34 yr old

Yep and it's the clubs mantra, Richo has said it many times.

It's all about becoming strong through junior development. If we can't land TDS after the Galvin affair, we are going backwards.......again.

Can you imagine the meltdown on this place.

If TDS is to leave, would there be any interest in signing Jacob Liddle? I think he is a free agent after this season and his form for St. George has been good. He is 29/30 I believe and maybe good for two years to support Api? We can then assess Heywood

Liddle would be an idiot to come here and play second fiddle again.

Hes rightly a starting hooker.

2 years out of the best hookers in the game at the moment.. definitely in the top 4..

And it isn't us throwing it away, it's TDS choosing not to develop under one of the best hookers in the game.

If said kid wants to make it Him vs Api now instead of being part of the future plan and keep developing

I don’t particularly care what he says… I just want the best player come 2027 …

This is his third year “developing “ and next year will be 4 under him …maybe come 2027 he thinks that will be enough and he would have learnt what he needs to by then ,,.. meanwhile Api will be 34 and might just be past it … it happpens around that age regularly in the NRL ( or sometimes earlier )
