Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

May is a risk … but one they have minimised with the train and trial deal

There are limited opportunities of availability at the moment … like Richo is, im much keener on the still under contract players that fall out of a tree …I wouldn’t mind Hetherington, and see he is available and we know Richo was keen last year …

Need another bench forward … what about Bunty Afoa from the Warriors ? He is off contract
I think we need to look at May as a speculative signing. There are a lot of questions marks and as it stands he doesn't solve our depth problem in the outside backs. Will still be relying on Staines and maybe Naden for depth for 2026 (I've heard that the club has offered Naden a contract for next year. He also has a pretty large contract in France on the table and possibly the rabbits - he is leaning towards leaving).

My issue with waiting for players to fall out of the tree is ending up in a situation like this year where we have 3 weeks to fill 3 roster spots and plenty of cap left over - there is no guarantee the right player will come along at the right time

I would take Afoa on a minimal contract but I'm not too sure he solves many problems.

I’d take someone better than Afoa if available… But personally I would prefer his impact over say Bird who has been a Top 17 player all year … of course I have no idea if WT would make it worth his while to move countries for minimal money …maybe $350 k next year and then $400k when Bird leaves the following year …Doubt he comes here cheaper than that , or is worth more money…

I would be offering Charlie Staines a deal over Naden as depth …also would sign AD as depth … there is also Luke L who I have wraps on and Makasini coming through the ranks ..

We don’t really know where May is at … they do…so it’s hard to say how much urgency there still is at the position ..if he can get back to where he was he walks into the team next year …. It’s a big if at this stage …

Warriors have an absolute smorgasbord of young barnstorming backrowers in their ranks. This guy is gettable as on development deal and off-contract.

Kayliss Fatialofa - will still be Flegg eligible next season

Top 4 for tackle breaks & decoy runs in NSW Cup this season, 96% tackle efficiency.

Is this the guy you mentioned on your podcast yesterday @jrtiger @poopy_diaper ?

You would think Benji may be a wildcard if the club were to try to convince some of these Maori kids to come over.

I also don’t believe Reynolds would make that change for 1 year
Chances are what we give for 2 years is but front load the first year which would equal his actual value plus security of a second year that would probably be double the value of a coaching role hence being really 2 years in front. And then if he wants to coach I’m sure there will be an opportunity at a few nrl teams

I’m kinda looking for NRL ready forwards as a priority for now …but I’ll defer to your judgement on guys like this 👍

What you're forgetting is that Latu Fainu is TWENTY. He's not being groomed into a lock - he's being given time to develop his game

Even if he plays second fiddle the entire of next year, he'll be 21 and an extremely young half.

Tigers fans seem to think it's normal to play kids at 18 who have no experience playing against actual men. Look at Storm - they leave guys in reserve grade until they're 21/22 and ready to play grade.

As of right now Latu has practically never played 80 minutes in first grade. He's barely even played it in reserve grade. Give him time to develop!
Would it be alright if we stopped using the word "groomed" so much?

If KPP & Samuela are our 1st choice backrowers next season then Sukkar & a guy like this would be perfect backups (then we have Seyfarth & Bird who can cover). This kid is dominating NSW Cup already and definitely ahead of the likes of Broederlow & Saukuru. For those who want Harrison Hassett, Kayliss is worth consideration.

I think we need to look at May as a speculative signing.

Let's hope he doesn't go the way of some of our other speculative centre signings e.g. Jamal Idris, Joey Leilua, James Roberts...
FWIW, I thought all of those guys were worth the gamble at the time. Didn't work out, but worth a punt.
May certainly carries risk, but he is young with scary potential and if it doesn't work out, at least we tried.

The big difference is they were signed to long term contracts without proving themselves....May is on a T&T and has 13 rounds to prove himself
