Happens when you’re a shit side and constantly at the bottom of the ladder with a revolving door of coaches - and or coaches who have no experience…It's only at WT's where youngsters should be handed the spot & not have to earn it. Blake Mozer was happy to re-sign at Brisbane (has just as much wraps on him as TDS does) even though he's behind Hunt, Walters & Paix. Harry Grant didn't start regularly being a starter in the NRL until he was 22-23 so why should Tallyn just be handed the spot? You prioritise the guy who's currently playing better & has a bigger impact on the team.
Diminishing with every loss...and Reynolds has been ocassionally brilliant, but these are getting further and further apart..Benji has plenty of cred.
100% this season has been far more interesting to watch than any year I can remember for a while. Even the years we came 9th were pretty hard to watch as we were copping a lot of hidings in between the victories. We SHOULD be sitting on 18 points now, with another 2 coming this weekend that would 20 points coming into Rd 16.
We SHOULD have beaten the Knights in Rd 1, the Warriors in Rd 4 and Penrith last weekend. If the boys had turned up in the 1st half of Rd 13 against the Cowboys we SHOULD have won that game well as.
Discipline, bad options (last passes etc Galvin was good for a few per game) and some questionable refereeing decisions have cost the team badly.
As I've said before, we've only copped two real hidings so far this year, a huge improvement on last season.
What rival clubs are we in danger of losing Talyn to ?Happens when you’re a shit side and constantly at the bottom of the ladder with a revolving door of coaches - and or coaches who have no experience…
Bennett’s and Bellamy’s clubs are usually going well, and they’ve got the runs on the board to be able to sell a clear progression through to a player.
The 3rd factor is managers - we’d do well to admit most of the game (managers included) think we’re a joke and given the same money at a better club, we’d be second or third choice for most players
Heath Mason is an interesting footballer. He is clearly very good and highly talented, but he lacks one or two crucial skills required to be a genuine first grader at a few positions. E.g. you can't play him in the back 3 because he can't catch high balls, at 6 he lacks a kicking option, and at centre he is a bit small and he might struggle to tackle big guys like Crichton one-on-one. Haven't seen him at hooker before.I think Heath Mason is going to be our Wishart
That's my point...its not as tho we're premiership contenders next yr and are looking for a quick fix from a busted 35 yoIs Reynolds going to be dare I say it “our Cooper Cronk”?
Haven't seen the Pom 7 actually play at Souths but maybe we swap for Bud if he's half decent as a contenderThat's my point...its not as tho we're premiership contenders next yr and are looking for a quick fix from a busted 35 yo
Need a longer term plan
Having said that can't bet the house on Latu ,so we need an alternative..
Roosters and Dogs seem to have plenty, but they're still kids.
Latu can still be the long term plan. Not all halves hit the ground running at 18 like Katoa. That's my point...its not as tho we're premiership contenders next yr and are looking for a quick fix from a busted 35 yo

He'd be our best centre IMOwhere would he fit ? turuva and Skelton have mortgages on the wing and Cobbo defensively isn’t up to it at centre .
Even Katoa was dropped a few times for bad form at the same age as Latu is now. Definitely no need to rush in a 19-20 year old half back. Katoa is now 21 & has matured a lot as a player while also killing it. A couple years in & out of 1st grade is a good thing for half’s IMOLatu can still be the long term plan. At least with Reynolds we know it’s only short term. If you get one of the Roosters or Dogs cast off halves they’re going to want long term deals which is worse for Latu.
Cam Smith went till he was 37, I reckon Api has at least another three years in him. If Da Silva ain't keen well off you go. By that time Haywood would be ready.Really ? Why would he take that deal and put back his first grade experience for another 3 years and then come back to share it with somebody else.
At this point, why will Haywood end up any different to Liddle, Simpkin or TDS?Cam Smith went till he was 37, I reckon Api has at least another three years in him. If Da Silva ain't keen well off you go. By that time Haywood would be ready.
The game against Penrith would not have been a close result without Sukkar’s defence. The kid was a machine and tackled anything that moved. Sukkar while he was on and the big boss May were excellent in defence. You need those two on the field together..If KPP & Samuela are our 1st choice backrowers next season then Sukkar & a guy like this would be perfect backups (then we have Seyfarth & Bird who can cover). This kid is dominating NSW Cup already and definitely ahead of the likes of Broederlow & Saukuru. For those who want Harrison Hassett, Kayliss is worth consideration.
Well written! Sukkar is an excellent young second row forward. He also started the game against a quality team and did very well. The opposition know he is about with his strong tackling. The game against Penrith would not have been a close result without Sukkar’s defence. The kid was a machine and tackled anything that moved. I can't answer that question, but I know that Api is still playing great football and I reckon he could still do it for another three years. I think losing him just to keep TDS happy personally wouldn't be the right move. Api is still the number one hooker at the club by a mile and needs to be kept.At this point, why will Haywood end up any different to Liddle, Simpkin or TDS?
Yeah agree Sukkar would be also good coming off the bench with fresh legs but they need to use him more hitting those gaps with short ball need the line. The kid has something about him that tells me he is NRL ready! He is only 21 which is great for the club long term.I'm glad Marshall and his staff select the teams because it is a difficult task. We need to look in our own backyard for answers and I hope Marshall works hard with Taateo. His ability to carry the ball forward is excellent and he'd be a player Bellamy would polish into a v/good player. Sam Fainu imo is a very good second row forward while Sukkar can learn his trade coming off the bench or starting when needed. May has only played 8 games at centre and I'd suggest he may be good competition for a wing spot along with Skelton and Staines.
