Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Don't care if you hate me, but its time to be brutal in our recruitment. Gauge Bula now regarding his commitment to WTs and if he's cagey, we throw a deal at Campbell and tell Bula he can gobafter his contract is up. I'm happy for WTs to rid itself of Isaac Moses wherever possible. Moses will pull another Galvin gate on WTs when Bula is due for a renewal

We have an option on Bula. Richo said on the ABC that his form leading up to his injury was worth the cost of his extension anyway. So I'd guess that's most likely what is going to happen at the end of the Season. His contract will go to 900k and he's off the market until 2028.

Moses gets no commision on Bula's current contract anyway, as it was established by his former agent. A few emails will pass between Moses and club recruiters, and that will get over reported by SMH grubs as 'gauging interest' or 'negotiations' with other clubs, but it's mostly a wind up.

As a low cost back up half he is serviceable. I don't think anyone is claiming it to be a revolutionary signing.

Giving a top 30 and first drop halves spot to an unproven teenager would be a pretty poor recruitment move imo.

We’ll agree to disagree ..the “unproven teenager” will be on a Top 30:deal somewhere next season … just like Makasini will be here …

I would rather AD or the u/20 Origin guy to be the backup half
Doueihi (if he re-signs) will play 13 by the looks of it, but can shift to 6 if needed.

We still need a 7 and 6 to play cup.each week and they need to be on low money and not expect to be first picked. Ideally they've had a few first grade games and not Wakeham standard in casebthey get a call up.

I think Jock fits that and if we get Javon Andrews, then we have him developing there too.

It's about as exciting as signing Kurt Falls, but necessary in relation to depth.

I would suggest AD looks gone after this signing ….

I think its unlikely he will be top 30. Fair play to him of he does but our days of throwing kids into our top 30 bar out and out studs (Makasini) is over.

As pointed out many, many times we need to continue building out the depth across the park. Madden is a good step.

Mate… this guy next year will be just as good as Makasini… he will definitely have a Top 30 deal as there are maximums you can pay otherwise and he will be earning more than that

He could have been retained at starting 13 and been still moved to halves if needed as dep5
Oh got it. Yeah he probably is as the 6...maybe for 7, Madden is the replacement. Doueihi has a strong running game, so maybe they want an organising half around as well.

You still need 4 halves in the squad, so maybe you're right..Jarome, Latu, Adam and Madden...makes sense.

shifting your team around if one of your halves is out isn’t ideal, wouldn’t it be better to have a back up come straight in and keep Adam at 13 if that’s the plan for him

If the Isaac Moses playbook goes the same way it normally does, he will be asking us to upgrade Bula’s contract and pay him 900k from 2026 and not be happy to wait until 2027.
That way we would have to renegotiate his contract to allow Isaac to get his cut of the new deal and if we say no, he will threaten to request a release.

I think Douehi would be the replacement for both … JL can play either position…

Anyway moot point now is my prediction… I’ve thought even prior to this that they would have done the deal with AD by now if they really wanted him …
