I’m not sure what the club was supposed to do to keep players. Many of those mentioned were offered a contract and didn’t take up the offer.

heard an interview with Papz the other day and he said he chose melb because of what they offered him - not financial but from a medical perspective.

Maybe we should sign the melb medical and rehab staff.

We need a goal kicker even as a back up, I reckon Luke if he came cheap would strengthen the squad. Any cheap fullback s off contract ?

Another thought is sometimes junior 5/8 s make the transition well to fullback so Talau might be a contender he certainly has the pace.

I'm not sure ..the NRL grant covers the salary cap...you don't spend it elsewhere meaning you can't short change what's available..

It's not a case of needing a raffle it's a case of Cap management..and paying players what they are worth..

Exactly. The paying players what they are worth is the tough part.

Signing overs for long term contracts is as bad as it gets because you carry that load for the duration of the contract.

Moot point really... the salary cap is rorted so whether you are inclined to believe it or not it’s never going to be an even playing field

On 9 last night they were saying there are a few clubs after Fifita and throwing close to i Mill at him - given we have to pay overs (someone said 300k overs) I don't think he is worth anything like 1.3, don't even think he is worth 1 Mill. ( big diff between him and JT for the same amount). His defence - mainly reads or willingness to get involved needs a bit of work.

Agreed. There would be 100 transfers before David Fifita leaves Broncos. They have a young team and I don't believe anyone in the forwards tied up to massive deals. Broncos will release 10 other players before Payne Haas or Fifita.

Been reported that they're confident a new deal will be done with him by November 1. He and Haas won't be leaving as you say.
